Does anyone know why “No Guidance” shot up the radio charts and now on kworb it looks like it has just stalled recently?? It got most of it's airplay from Rhythmic and Urban radio and it's now peaked on both formats. It was sent to Pop radio, but I doubt they gave it much of a chance. Now that it's peaked, it'll keep dropping in audience impressions. Check the CHR thread, it’s boasting some healthy gains. It just debuted at 34 on pop songs this week.

I don't think the longevity goes that far, I mean where it would go from here? Streaming is already in full effect and we haven't got top ten hits that have lasted 35 weeks yet. But streaming will continue to become the most dominant measure as sales die out.

We are gonna see a song in the Top 10 for 52 weeks eventually, I remember how cool it was in 2015 when Uptown Funk hit 31 weeks and All About That Bass/Trap Queen hit 25 weeks. That was a lot of songs hanging in the Top 10 for 25+ weeks, but now we have seen the record tied (Closer), then broken (Shape Of You), then tied (Girls Like You), then two other songs (Sunflower, Sicko Mode) coming close to tying it again. That's not even counting all the songs that have ht 25+ weeks like That's What I Like, Despacito, Without Me, Happier, etc.

But seriously, 25 weeks isn't even HALF of 52 weeks which is a YEAR.

Even if streaming peaks, there's no reason to believe a song won't obliterate the weeks top 10 record eventually. It's meant to happen. Records won't just stop.
A song will come along eventually and be monumental and for whatever reason stick around top 10 for nearly the whole year. It's not insane to believe. We've already seen that happen with dozens of albums, and now songs are available for consumption as widely as ever with no limits.
Album sales peaked after 2000, and nobody ever saw NSYNC's first-week record being broken, especially not by 2010s. Nobody ever thought a song could debut #1 before Soundscan, and now that's been done like 30 times. Nobody ever thought Glee Cast's ten-million entries on Hot 100 record would get snatched, and Drake is now about to surpass it before the same decade even ended.
Not to mention when Harlem Shake got 100 million streams in a week, nobody thought that would be touched. Now we have Old Town Road doing that like 10 times.
Almost all these records will get snatched one way or another. None of them are as out of reach as like to make it seem.

I know it’s rather far fetched but...
Imagine if Normani debuted at number one with “Motivation”?
😯 😯 😯
Given the fact that the Jonas Bros. did this year, Lord knows what could happen.
I’m curious to see the numbers she’ll pull.

^I was just thinking it would be fun if somehow Motivation, Lover and Circles managed to debut in the top 3 of the Hot 100 next week.

The new Swae Lee with Drake track might have more traction than Normani and Taylor, but I'm gonna wait and see. Happy there is at least some new music from various artists coming up this week.

P.S: Rihanna could EASILY score her 10th number one single this decade with her next lead single. If she does, she’ll tie The Beatles and Mariah Carey as the only acts to score 10 or more number ones in a single decade. LEGENDS! 🙏🏿 🙏🏿 🙏🏿 And the Supremes as well. They scored 12 number ones in the 60s. The original divas

either that or we’ll finally have an 11 week #2 song .. 💀 We do. Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)”. Yes, it spent 11 weeks at #2, but I think we all know that when someone says “a #2 song” they mean a song that peaked at #2, not one that debuted at #1 before a long stretch in the runner-up spot.

And still Sunflower is kicking it. Sunflower might be the song to have the best shot at Shape of You for most streamed overall on Spotify I'm shocked it outlived "Wow." and will probably pull the same trick with "Goodbyes". Personally, it has grown on me a lot and it's probably my favorite Post Malone single so far. (But I've liked all his singles since "rockstar" and what I've heard about "Circles" has me excited).

I’m really liking the new Taylor Swift single. I hope it has more staying power and chart success than the previous two singles. Meanwhile, Circles has yet to be put on Spotify.

The new Swae Lee/Drake song is meh. Not nearly as good as I thought it'd be. Motivation sounds like an Ariana Grande knock-off. Normani even sounds like her on lots of parts of the song. Lover is a decent song. Nothing mind-blowing. The new Jorja Smith and Charli XCX songs are good, too.

I am so DISAPPOINTED by Normani’s “Motivation”.
😒 😒 😒 😒 😒 😒 😒
I was expecting something vastly uptempo with a high octane chorus ala. Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” or Rihanna’s “Pon De Replay” or even something along the lines of Ciara’s “Goodies” - all of which were Urban-Pop smash hits and instant classics.
The video is great, I like the references to early/mid 2000’s R&B/Pop videos, and she looks as sexy as ever, but that’s about it, Overall, the hook is rather weak; the song simply doesn’t go anywhere in my opinion.
If it’s any consolation I see the song performing very well on Rhythmic radio and perhaps on Pop radio too. Urban radio isn’t touching it!

Normani even said in an interview that she wants to make music that honours her “two fave artists”. (I guess she meant the video/s).

Drake/Swae Lee: What TF was that? Charli XCX: Yeah... I’m good.

^^But current Beyoncé and Rihanna sound very different to what they sound 15 years ago.
The inspiration is one thing but to do what's commercially sensible is another.

I'm just disappointed that Normani sounds like Ariana Grande throughout Motivation. Even her hmms sounds like Ariana's hmms. I can't shake it off.

Just peeped the song credits and realized this Motivation is an Ariana song that got given to Normani. No wonder Normani sounds so much like Ariana.
The Swae Lee/Drake song is definitely a grower. It's a cool song with a mellow vibe.
