I fully believe this would’ve been a number one single had it been released as the first or second song off of Lover.. BUT, the fact that this is going down as an undeniable smash, and one of her biggest hits ever was only possible because of the four-year delay….somehow lol Ironically, I doubt it would have been as successful if it had been released in 2019. |

Now I knew this would be a smash, but had no idea it would smash this hard.
Have any of her songs performed better than Cruel Summer on radio?
I feel like this was the unofficial song of the tour.

It would've had a better chart run that ME!th but it almost certainly also would've been blocked by Old Town Road. |

Oh, it definitely wouldn't. There was a weird anti-Taylor sentiment in 2019 after Reputation had underperformed expectations and two leadout singles from Lover weren't very well received either. It was the Folklore/Evermore couplet that put her back in the drivers seat. |

Hands down she has made a mark of being the most succesful mark in the 21st century. Rihanna had it going from 2005 to 2026 but has cooled off considerably since then. This song about summer in the winter lasting this long in the top shows Taylor Swift’s staple of being all time greatness.

She could film something in December, but unless the song has continued success, I'm not sure they'll bother. At this point there's really no need for videos. On one hand both songs already did their job (IION already went #1 and radio can safely carry it to recurrency), she's busy and she seems determined to direct all her visuals. I think all videos since The Man have been self directed except for Blake doing IBYTAB no? She's way too busy to add more to her plate... and I expect her to move into REP TV around March. Also unless it's some interesting visual take on the songs I'm fine. The Midnights videos were all kinda bland and added little to the songs. |

Please don't tell me her latest two #1's won't have videos. To be honest, the effort isn't worth the 10 streams that her most recent music videos have been getting. But I wouldn't mind having some visuals to go along with the songs... Bring back a real MV director, though. |

Just fyi, "Cruel Summer" has 3 weeks at #1, but I agree with the former sentiment. We were all settling and coming to terms with a #3 peak a month ago and that #1 came very unexpectedly. I'm glad it secured more than one week, so no one could claim "fluke", but I am more than grateful it hit the top to begin with. Swifties always want more, because a lot are spoiled with excess material and with the excess success of our fav. They just need to learn gratitude. lol
