I've been seeing ads for a My OH My challenge I think that's the first song to actually be promoted through Tim Tok, right? That's kinda sad and desperate lol ....it's a popular app that has got songs more traction. How is it desperate? Usually songs take off on their own on TikTok, no “ad” needed |

Well, it's not like people expect her to move much album units anyway. She'd probably be like Jason Derulo/Flo Rida moving forward in that no matter how big her singles get her album numbers will probably just be mediocre at best.

Just learned the specifics (their quantity, scope, reach, and content) of this whole race scandal with Camila and am personally turned off to her and disappointed with how little blowback she is recieving. I have noticed a lot of (white) people quickly glossing over the "incident(s!)", as if they have any right to be accepting apologies unowed to them (embarrassing as usual), claiming circumstances of youth as justification, which is completely ridiculous. First of all this wasn't one slip up, but the continual cycling of dangerous stereotypes, tasteless/crude/racist jokes, usage of epithets, and more racially-charged offensiveness that breached several of her platforms and targeted more than one race. This, as a collective, is far more indicative of a mindset/of character, as opposed to a singular hiccup and should certainly take much more to rectify (if that is even possible). I am not saying anyone is incapable of change, but even her apology lacked any sincerity for me, was far too generic in its message, and lacked the specification of the groups of people she should have addressed directly, as opposed to a blanket apology at the masses to save face. And as an IG story, addressing the situation with the respect of a footnote?! Smh. It becomes even more frustrating when you think of how her career personally benefited off the talent and labor of those she was laughing at a few years ago. Maybe she can turn things eventually, but she ain't done a thing yet. No thanks sis.

It went viral TikTok, but wasn't actively pushed through TikTok. The difference is one is organic the other is a marketing attempt to go viral. Of course I highly doubt this is the first time it's happened, it's just the first time it's visibly happened. (I'd bet money other songs have been given marketing pushes through the app and either it didn't work or they kept it pretty hush hush and made it seem organic. "Yellow Hearts" seems pretty likely of that, for example.) Definitely disagree that it's sad and desperate, though. It's just a marketing technique no different from any other. |

How is it sad and desperate? It's where songs have been blowing up lately. It's a great promo strategy. Artists have been doing it like Ava Max and Alec Benjamin, they just aren't receiving the same success Camila is. Heck, I think even Selena did too when LYTLM came out. At least she was posting, I believe.
