This song and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” had a really similar run. They both had strong sales and took off with radio much faster than they would have been expected to considering the artists. Then all of the sudden they both just hit a wall. We all know radio puts too much weight in testing, but how is it that they really think their listeners were okay hearing these songs in an expedited chart run for 3 months and then all of the sudden they say “oh wait nevermind.” Testing doesn’t really take into account for a song’s chart run until they’ve been out a while and familiarity grows to a majority of listeners. Only extreme circumstances does it stop a song in its tracks before it begins (“Donkey”, “Vacation”). Radio programmers loved this song and Riley’s and that’s why they were quick adds out of the gate — and hot starts. Songs in top 10 rotation are the most played song on the average station and corporate programmers/PD’s don’t really go for poor testing songs in the top 10. It’s why Riley’s hit a wall in the teens and why this one is sluggish. This is weird because you can see radio themselves loved Carly and Riley’s songs when they first hit radio...but then testing and consultants get a heavy say once familiarity grows and that’s when songs stall.

This has already been at least her second biggest hit. I hope it goes #1 on radio but if not no big deal.

Officially Carly Pearce's second Top 10 single moving up 3 spots to #10 on Mediabase (still sad "Hide The Wine" came up just short).
This song's bad testing and slowness does continue to show with "I Hope You're Happy Now" having the second lowest bullet of all the songs being promoted in the Top 20 with an underwhelming bullet of 89. The good news for Carly Pearce is that the nearest song is over 900 spins away from her (Kenny Chesney "Here And Now") so I could see this song having a bit of a "We Back", "Buy My Own Drinks" where it ultimately dies out in the 5-8 range as there is no one looking like a threat, but I do think country radio is not going to convert this much higher.

While I'm disappointed it's not longer looking like a #1 I am happy she scored her second top 10. Hopefully whatever follows will be able to keep the momentum growing!

2 questions. This should hit top 10 on Billboard next week and we will have 4 females in the top 10. When was the last time we had 4 in the top 10? Second question is what are the chances they go with the duet with Michael as the next single? That song and the 2 singles are the only songs I’ve heard so far from the album. Going to go give it a listen in a bit though.

Looking at the push and the streams/YT plays - i would think the next single has to be one of these four: It Won’t Always Be Like This, You Kissed Me First, Halfway Home or Finish Your Sentences.

I think "You Kissed Me First" or "Halfway Home" should be the next single. "Dashboard Jesus" or "It Won't Always Be Like This" would be my next choices.

In retrospect, if you think about it, It Won’t Always Be Like This would be an excellent single choice for next. After all, it bodes a glimmer of hope during this hard, trying time with the COVID-19.

Exactly this. And I can’t see it doing too badly in callout scores, either. I hope they don’t choose the Michael duet because I think it would fare about the same in callout scores as this and “Closer to You”.

Moves up to #9 on Mediabase. With a bullet of 283 to boot and being 1140 spins ahead of Kenny Chesney the next song in line.
While I still remain hesitant for Carly's #1 chances (I am worried Lee Brice new single is going to cut into this one a bit with how well its connecting), "I Hope You're Happy Now" is in a good spot to get a Top 5 peak due to the amount of space between it and the songs below it, I do also worry about Keith Urban and Sam Hunt eventually (I think country radio is chomping at the bit to convert those two songs into the Top 10), but they are pretty far away. Very interested to see how this song's chart run closes out, I can see this going anywhere from a #1 to a Mediabase only #1 to having to settle for a Top 5 peak on both charts

45devour-----Miranda, LBT, Jana Kramer, & Carrie were all in the top ten on the CA/MB chart for the week ending 9-22-12; the songs in question were Fastest Girl in Town & Why Ya Wanna (both would peak at #3), Pontoon (falling to #8 from #4 following two weeks at #1) and Blown Away, which was at #5 and en route to a two-week stay at #1.
HTH.

This is connecting pure and simple, they should try and push to number 1.
So excited this is her second top 10, with hopefully more to come thanks to her great album.
Hope dashboard Jesus is next, people wish they could drive cross country rt now.

I feel like this may hit number one purely on good timing. It has a MASSIVE gap to the next song behind it (Kenny Chesney or Scotty McCreery depending on chart); After A Few is directly in front of it and will be on chart week #60 next week. With Luke Combs being a co-writer on this, I could see Does To Me playing nice too. Ingrid and Gabby are both falling...and the 'female' spins have to go somewhere (gag, that felt disgusting to type LOL)
The cards appear to be in Carly and Lee's favor.

Wow. Chills. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a brand new meaning to an already genuinely special song. I've mentioned wanting it as the next single, but the video has me even more convinced. It absolutely HAS to be the next single. It'll bring hope to all of us, especially the ones who are struggling.

I was already hoping and praying for that to be her next single, but now I'm 100% convinced it HAS to be. Such an incredible song, even more so now. That video was very touching and I think the masses absolutely need to have the chance to hear it.

I agree with all of you; the song is absolutely scintillating, her voice is as pristine as can be, and the video is superb and very touching with first-class musicianship from start to finish.
I see a future format superstar in the making.

I know the charts are not finalized til tonight but it looks like Carly Pearce scored her second Top 5 single with this one as she moves up two places to #4 on Mediabase. Honestly interested to see if this hits #1 on both charts, because Carly Pearce is a good 2000 spins away from Luke Combs and about 1000 away from Travis Denning. She is co-hosting CCUSA two weeks from now on June 6th and 7th so I imagine the label will probably max this song from June 7th to the 14th, but I have to also imagine country radio is going to slowly drop "Does To Me". I do think she can snatch the Mediabase #1 but right now on Billboard I would probably say there is at least an 8 million audience gap between her and Luke Combs. I do think more likely than not she gets both songs at #1 but there is a slight nagging feeling that she does not.

^ I wonder if the fact that Luke helped co-write this song will help it reach the top. There may be incentive to let Luke’s song fall from the top and allow this to make it in there. Travis’ song is so old that I feel like it’ll fall pretty quickly after it peaks so that shouldn’t block it.
From behind, there is Kenny, Scotty and Sam but I don’t think any of those songs will gain quick enough to block this. I think it should be able to reach the top and I really hope it does because I really enjoy this one and I have since it was released.
