It sounds so good. It will be so refreshing to hear something like this on Top 40 radio again. Adele is a mood.

Um, it’s not very good. lol To be fair, she was about to go into the chorus when the snippet stopped but yeah… I find the song in the snippet very underwhelming too and i was one of those who dig someone like you, when we were young.
Also, does anybody feel like this sound a bit like turning tables in terms of the melody?

Based on that snippet, it sounds nothing like Marvin Gaye :kii:

It sounds like an album track from one of her last two albums. Melody is not as strong as her big hits.

tbh, I don't mind if it sounds like an album track, I just want to hear new Adele.

Reminds me of Remedy, but with those classic Adele heartbreaking lyrics. I love it so far!

Yeah that's Remedy and Turning Tables mashed together. I actually really, really love it.
Except when it got to the chorus, I didn't. I know it was only like 2 seconds of the chorus, but... Hopefully the full thing is better.

Based on that snippet, it sounds nothing like Marvin Gaye :kii: You should reread that post. They didn't state this song sounded like Marvin Gaye, but that another song on the album did.

I think it sounds really nice like a lot of her ballads. I’m looking forward to it!

Sooner than I thought! I'm sure that snippet made its way all over the world and they gauged the strong reaction to it.

I'm so f**king excited for this song it's ridiculous. It's so refreshing to have her back again; and I can't wait to hear her voice on the radio again. My local HAC station still plays "Hello" every day, and it's never been tiring.

She puts so much emotion into her songs and has the ability to make the listener feel that emotion.

So if this is debuting Thursday at 7pm in the U.S. that means it will more than likely enter the Billboard hot 100 a week early at a lower position. I’m sure those 5 hours will be more than enough to chart. Then the leap to #1 will happen the next week. If this is their rollout plan then it’s kind of a smart move. They realize it’s an automatic #1 and losing a few hours of chart points won’t effect anything at all and will just make the song looks like it has more longevity.

5 hours is just under 3% of the tracking period. The #100 song gets like 10% of the points of the #1 song, right? So even taking into account Adele could potentially triple the number of points of the current #1 in her debut week, 3% of that is still not enough to chart.
She'd have to absolutely ridiculous numbers in the first 5 hours to chart. I just don't think she'll do it. Bubbling Under seems probable, but the actual Hot 100? I mean, Taylor Swift barely managed to debut at #100 with 3 days of airplay tracking for "ME!." I don't see how 5 hours of airplay, streaming, and sales for Adele is going to be equivalent to 72 hours of airplay for Taylor Swift.
I'd love to be proven wrong and see her debut off of just 5 hours of tracking because that would be absolutely iconic, I just don't think it's feasible.

That math doesn't really reflect the fact that (most) big releases are front loaded by nature. She'll likely be No. 1 on iTunes within minutes, and probably do really well on streaming too. That will hold true even if the song is received tepidly and shows underwhelming performance in the weeks following. Billie Eilish's "Therefore I Am" debuted at No. 94 last year based on 11 hours of streams and sales (3.1 million streams, 5k sales) + half a week of airplay (11.7 million AI). Now Adele will only have 5 hours of radio play due to the adjusted timeline, but I also think Adele will be quicker to climb on airplay than Billie Eilish could ever dream. She is very much capable of making up the difference with more sales and streams. I'd say she'll be more likely to debut than miss next week if she does indeed release it 5 hours early in the US. But I also wouldn't bet on it given how close this might be.

I was about to ask this subject but thankfully I understood y'all answers. I hope she breaks the Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift record.

But I also wouldn't bet on it given how close this might be. I’m siding with you on this. “Therefore I Am” isn’t even nearly as hyped as this. It’s been a 6 year wait. I think Adele can pull it off just by how instantly “Hello” hit on its first day out. Adele will also come packing with massive YouTube views out of the gate. And I can see her getting at least 5 million A.I. in these 5 hours.

I've only heard the 15 second piano intro so far and based on that alone, I think this could be my favourite Adele single. It sounds made for me - really depends on the melody around the lyrics at this point...

Would be cool if this debuted at #100. Does Kelly still have the record?

Would be cool if this debuted at #100. Does Kelly still have the record? She has the biggest jump to No. 1 for MLWSWY (97 to 1), and Taylor has the biggest jump overall with Me! (98 spots from 100 to 2) with Kelly second with MLWSWY.

From that verse I don’t think this will be as big as Hello. No doubt this will debut at number 1 though, but how long is the big question
