I think call out scores will definitely help this song along, as long as their good of course. I think radio has made it pretty clear with all her previous solo singles that their not that intristed in her material. Which happens for female artists on country, way more than it should. Road less traveled to me was a special case and I dont really give it credit for breaking her through. It was the iheart radio pick for OTV and got deal plays until radio pushed it to the top. So I would have to disagree and say shes not a big name in the industry. Hopefully radio can get behind her and this song though. I don't think people are saying she is a big name in the industry because of radio airplay. It's pretty much the opposite, we're complaining country radio doesn't support her even though she is a big name in industry. People do know who she is, she's well liked, known for her voice, she's been around for 9 years now and has a couple of big collaborations. I think her name ends up being bigger than what her chart history might imply.

A new version of this song (featuring Trisha Yearwood) will be released on Friday. Lol! This girl has made a career out of doing duets, why stop now? It’s actually pretty ingenious because she’s actively introducing herself to new audiences every time... Maybe not the largest audiences, but I’m sure she’ll gain a few Trisha fans through this, which is obviously a benefit to her career. I look forward to hearing their voices together, but this is a weird song for it imo.

I'm having a hard time imagining this song as a duet and with someone like Trisha Yearwood who is much older than Lauren Alaina (given the lyrical premise of the song). That said, I love Trisha's voice and I'm sure they will sound great together, and if it gives this song even just a little bit of a boost, it'll be worth it!

Could just be Trisha Yearwood on harmony possibly? Regardless I am excited as I am a fan of both.
Anyways this song had a decent week on both charts as "Getting Good" sets a new peak of #33 on Mediabase gaining 83 spins and 268k in audience while on Billboard, Lauren Alaina goes back to her #40 peak gaining 228k in audience.

With Luke Combs, Travis Denning, and Carrie Underwood all in freefall, is it possible for this to enter the top 30 in the next two weeks?

Getting Good is really close to making the Bubbling Under chart. This duet could manage to help get it there in two weeks. (if it doesn't make it next week)

With Luke Combs, Travis Denning, and Carrie Underwood all in freefall, is it possible for this to enter the top 30 in the next two weeks? She is at #35 as of today, but I imagine she is close in points to Dustin Lynch. In the next, I will say 3 weeks on Mediabase we should see Travis Denning and Luke Combs go recurrent and depending on how fast Carrie falls, for "Drinking Alone" to fall below Lauren Alaina, so that takes "Getting Good" up to #32 assuming no one passes her, if one or even a couple of the weaker links on the chart (*cough* Chase Rice, Gone West, Kip Moore, Midland, Jon Langston) give up that could definitely help Lauren Alaina. But I do think even if Lauren Alaina has a solid pace these next few weeks, I do think singles from Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and maybe Kane Brown "Worldwide Beautiful" will pass her so I can see her probably just staying in the #32 to #35 range for a few weeks. Hopefully she can stay solid and keep gaining (today's update was negative) as she has picked up 4 adds the past 3 weeks on Mediabase, and she is back in the Top 40 on Billboard. Also KKBQ please give this song daytime spins already, it is ridiculous that Hootie & The Blowfish "Hold On" still gets played in the daytime and this doesn't. What the actual hell. Getting Good is really close to making the Bubbling Under chart. This duet could manage to help get it there in two weeks. (if it doesn't make it next week) Really? That is kind of shocking since she is only at #41 on the Hot Country Songs Chart. If so then wow! Country radio really needs to get on it, and play this song already.

A new version of this song (featuring Trisha Yearwood) will be released on Friday. That would be awesome. Are you sure though? It should already be out on Australia/New Zealand and apparently it's not.

*Warning Profanity Ahead*
Hopefully something can come soon to save this song because Lauren fell all the way back to #38 on Mediabase, which makes her hitting the Top 30 even more unlikely as she is probably going to be at #38 on Mediabase officially tomorrow (I full on see Luke Combs passing her) and signs are starting to show this one has stalled out or is about over in terms of country radio. Maybe it can rebound, but at this rate I have massive hesitations. I am praying tomorrow is a good update and this can at least finish the week on Mediabase at #34 or #35.
If this song is done or will not go any higher, than fuck country radio again for letting another female song get unnoticed per usual that had potential and continuing to fill the status quo and notion that country radio is inherently sexist against women even though it is 2020 and quite frankly sexist and problematic behavior should be out the fucking door in society. But no country radio still has the image of looking inherently sexist against women or limits women (I know 2020 is better than most recent years but it is still bad). It is especially frustrating for Lauren Alaina because she has been in the industry recording music for 9 years, and everybody but country radio wants her to succeed.
I just hope this song can somehow rebound and can KKBQ, W1MC, and ALL the Radio Stations who have big audience play this, hell play it overnight or something or in the evening, but just fucking play it. It is truly disgusting to see how bastardized country radio playlists have become especially in the daytime where it is a set amount of recurrent songs, and usually only the Top 20 gets played in the daytime or if you are an A-Lister you just get an automatic pass right into the Top 20 within 4 weeks and get automatic daytime spins, stations should take a risk and play a lower charting song in the daytime for a week or two and see how the testing comes back. Like no wonder there is no movement on the chart because country radio follows a very strict system due to the higher ups, constant iHeartMedia debuts, which at best cause a one week hiccup for a song and at worse set a song back even more, and both of these things essentially stifles the chart, as everything tends to remain static for so long, hence why you see singles from Travis Denning, and Scotty McCreery take over 60 weeks to hit #1. But for some inexplicable reason a woman can't have a 50+ chart week run, or have a song be a hit that does not connect with the masses but a guy can (the only female song that was a total non event that hit the Top 10 recently was "Buy My Own Drinks" and that is it). Like it is great that singles from Maddie & Tae, Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde, Miranda Lambert, Ingrid Andress, Maren Morris, and Gabby Barrett have all hit it big, but that is because they have all connected and sold/streamed very well, but once again per usual there are a decent amount of male songs to hit the top of the chart or neat the top that just have not connected at all (singles from Travis Denning, Scotty McCreery, LoCash, Jimmie Allen's last single)
Country Radio stop being so reliant on testing when you only test a very small sample of said audience, or stop appealing to the demographic that is sexist against female artists, stop with the whole "gut feeling" when deciding what will be a hit as that is code for "Handful of female hits so we look not sexist", and get with the times.
*End Rant*

It would seem Lauren success will have to be defined without country radio. I still assert she is in more demand then The other females other than the top four Carrie Miranda kelsie and Maren. That is only to show you can have some success outside of country radio not meant to put anyone else down. If they choose to release the song If I was my Best Friend I believe it will connect in the ways you describe and perhaps she will finally get radios attention.

Radio just doesn’t seem to like her. While I think this was a bad single choice anyway, she has had 2-3 other songs during her career that should have been smashes and radio ignored them. She can still have a great career without radio.

It goes to show how artists CAN lead careers without major radio support. Lauren’s star power is a true testament to this - she’s had some moderate hits, and a couple big ones, but for the most part she’s relied on touring, collaborations, social media, and television to support her career, and it has worked.
Now I will say, I do think this was made possible due to ‘Idol’ giving her a massive fanbase to start, I don’t think she’d be where she is without her start on ‘Idol’, obviously, but what she has done to maintain her base and expand it is a credit to her work ethic, decision making skills, and pure artistic talent. She doesn’t need radio support to show what so many already know, she is the real deal.
She’s also REALLY young, still, and I feel like eventually something will give and her career will soar to the next level. She’s been active for ten years, but she only has two full length albums and a couple EPs to her name; on paper she’s still really new... I think the best is yet to come for Lauren.

Okay maybe I overreacted a bit since I was listening to one of my local iHeartMedia Country Stations and this song got added to the iHeart Women of Country this weekend and me being the music nerd that I am decided to look at how many iHeartMedia stations had the Women of iHeartCountry Radio Hour and were on the Mediabase Panel (why they don't just play more female songs in addition to this hour I will never know) and I counted about 40 stations who gave this song an extra spin today. So I am not losing help just yet.

What a nice moment for Lauren. They sound great together, but it’s really not meant as a duet... they did their thing, though.
Lauren is making all the right friends along her journey, it’ll pay off big time sooner or later. I mean, it very much already has, but there’s a lot more to come.

Didn't really envision this as a duet because of the lyrical content, but I actually think Trisha being on this works better than I expected it to, mostly just because she sounds fantastic on it and them singing together is just beautiful. What a lovely pairing vocally.

I am surprised to love this duet so much. It works as a duet when you think about it as Lauren and Trisha -- from very different walks of life and generations -- agreeing that life is good as it is. It is almost as if Lauren is having this realization and Trisha, some sort of mentor figure, is agreeing with her and validating that it's a real feeling.
This has given the song new life to me. I hope it can generate enough buzz to shove the song into the top 30/20.

I feel like this mix enhanced the music a little? It sounds more radio ready to me. I know this one has been out forever and is probably about done, but they should send this mix and a Lauren-only mix with this new production to radio and see if it helps. Maybe its just me and Trisha's what is bringing it to life but the music sounds better on this one.

Eh I think this song still has some life in it (evident by the bullet being at 83 as of today) as this has gotten at least 1 add on Mediabase the past 4 weeks. That and I imagine since this isn't in the Top 30 it is very unfamiliar with radio listeners as this is a song I can see radio beginning to convert a bit faster once it cracks into the Top 30, like we are seeing or have seen with singles from Jameson Rodgers, Maddie & Tae, Travis Denning, LoCash, and Scotty McCreery. Also I think with chart runs being so stretched out this song being at 36 weeks means pretty much nothing, since UMG is notorious for long chart runs and I imagine they will hold onto this song til the wheels come falling off and there is no strong indicator of that happening anytime soon. That and with Carly Pearce and Carrie Underwood in freefall country radio is probably going to need another female song to fill the airwaves and this song is definitely the closest to begin picking up some of those spins.

They ran a “top 30 bound” ad pretty heavily this week, so they will at least be pushing for that, and I expect them to try to push through the fall if they can, provided research doesn’t end up killing it off a la “Ladies in the 90s.”
I also thing the new duet version is very good. I always liked the song, but I do think Trisha’s voice really helps lend some weight to it.
