For clarity, this comment is not in response to anyone or any comment in this thread, but rather the broader context in how our society is discoursing on Ye and the implications of what he is saying.
As our society has become more enlightened about mental illness, it's also become a convenient rationale for nearly any (and every) type of behavior. I think this is a giant distraction because it allows genuinely horrible people and their apologists to legitimize and mainstream this kind of vile, repugnant rhetoric. I am more concerned about the impact than the underlying cause. Psychopathy is a mental illness, and it is also seen among people with bipolar disorder (like Ye, who displays psychopathic traits). We don't create excuses for psychopaths when they demonstrate abhorrent behaviour, and we shouldn't do so for Ye - or make exceptions to what is acceptable because he's a wealthy, prominent public figure with mental illness, because that's a slippery slope.

The clips I've seen of that interview are really just... he is completely unwell, and it's frustrating because he had all the means in the world to not get there. Mental health doesn't excuse his actions obviously, what he's saying is completely disgusting and horrific, but I would not be surprised if he takes his own life in the next year or so at this rate. One can only hope. Get help.

I have to disagree with your initial point. People, whether inside or outside power, donโt seem all that enlightened about mental illness. Very few people are inclined to confront all the untoward manifestations in the name of โdestigmatizationโ or maybe just ignorance. Until now, campaigns surrounding โmental health awarenessโ seem comfortable addressing only anxiety and depression. Iโm generalizing but our peer group in particular views mental illness as some kind of personality quirk, not wanting to leave home today, or the pang of anxiety you get when you have to send an e-mail. Most personality disorders, particularly those that are untreated, undertreated, or misdiagnosed, are hideous and often dangerous. It remains unfashionable to say but, in American cities like mine, severe mental illness lies at the core of the crisis of homelessness andโyesโthe epidemic of hate crimes.

I agree with your points, especially the bolded. Most of my peers see mental illness in a very specific way, and have no interest in exploring the messier, more dangerous aspects of it. They think anything can be solved with some therapy and/or medication, and the rest is just a symptom of poverty. I probably should have used "aware of" instead of "enlightened about" - two different concepts.

KANYE WEST Donda Academy Sued ...
Kanye West's private Christian school only feeds students one thing for lunch, sushi, and they apparently have to eat it on the floor without tables or chairs ... this according to a new lawsuit.
Ye and his Donda Academy are being sued by two Black women who say they were fired from teaching positions at the school for two reasons -- retaliation for sounding the alarm on alleged education, health and safety code violations -- and for their race.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the women say they were the only Black teachers employed by Donda Academy when they were hired full-time earlier this year ... and they say it didn't take long for them to notice numerous health and safety violations, unlawful educational practices and extremely unusual rules at Kanye's school.
Among the alleged issues ... the women say the only lunch option available for students is sushi, every single day, and students are not allowed to bring any outside food or drink, except for water. The suit claims Kanye spends $10,000 a week on sushi.
What's more, the teachers claim Kanye did not allow crossword puzzles or coloring sheets at Donda Academy, classes could not take place on the second floor because Kanye is "afraid of stairs," and Ye didn't want children using forks or utensils.
The suit alleges Kanye did not allow artwork to be hung on walls, and no one was allowed to wear jewelry ... simply because he "did not like jewelry."
The teachers even claim Kanye didn't allow chairs, forcing children to sit on foam cushions or stand, while teachers were relegated to standing or using a stool.
Donda Academy, the suit says, required everyone to wear all black from head-to-toe ... and Nike and Adidas brands were forbidden.
The teachers claim the school doors were physically locked from the outside during the school day, and students weren't allowed to go outside until they went home ... with the entire school, pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, taking lunch and recess at the same time indoors.
The suit claims Donda Academy didn't have a janitor or a school nurse ... and there were no trashcans outside classrooms or in the kitchen. Meanwhile, they say student medications were stored in a closet with other expired medications just scattered around unsecured.
And, get this ... the teachers claim there are no lesson plans or proper disciplinary procedures in place, resulting in students going undisciplined for multiple instances of bullying and physical assaults against peers and teachers.
The teachers claim when they tried to run the alleged issues up the flagpole, they were threatened not to reach out to Kanye.
The women say they were ultimately fired ... and they're blaming their termination on retaliation and racial discrimination. They also claim their paychecks were often short up to $2,700 per pay period ... so they're suing Kanye and Donda Academy for money.
We reached out to Kanye's camp ... so far no word back.
We covered it all in a recent episode of The TMZ Podcast, available on all podcast platforms!
What kind of parents would send their kids to a school created by Kanye West? I feel for the kids who were traumatized by this experience, but these parents got what they deserve.

Ye Deactivates X Account After Announcing Yeezy Adult Content
Ye (the artist formerly known as Kanye West) has deleted his X account seemingly after receiving a wave of backlash for announcing a new adult content website.
On Wednesday (April 24), the rapper tweeted a six second video with the phrase โYeezy Porn Is Cumming,โ directing viewers to โgo to yeezy.com.โ According to TMZ, Ye is planning to build an adult content studio under his Yeezy brand, and is in contact with Stormy Danielsโ ex-husband Mike Moz to discuss leading the project.
Following the announcement, the Vultures artist received an onslaught of criticism from fans, who urged him to โreturn to Christโ following his Jesus Is King era. Ye has since deactivated his account, though its not immediately clear if he deleted the account himself or if the platform banned him.
West has expressed varying opinions on porn throughout the years. In 2018, after telling Jimmy Kimmel that he โstill looks at PornHub,โ the platform offered the star a lifetime of free premium membership on their site. He later admitted to a โfull-on pornography addictionโ that โdestroyed my family.โ
In November 2022, Ye revealed that he will be taking a โfastโ from speaking, alcohol, sex and porn. โIโm not talking to nooobody for a month,โ he captioned a post that reads, โIโm taking a 30 day cleanse, a verbal fast. No alcohol, no adult films, no intercourse.โ
See below for fan reactions to the Yeezy Porn announcement.
