I haven't seen it poorly received at all so I guess you guys are actively looking for hate on the song. If people hated the song it wouldn't be #1 on Apple Music right now.

Zeze also wasn't recieved well on Twitter, yet it debuted at #2 and had decent longevity at 13 weeks in the top 10. I don't think replicating Sicko Mode's success was the intention behind this single anyway. At least ZEZE sounded like a single, honestly, I just don’t see people returning to HitR, but then again with the whole break up thing going on, it could be fueled by tabloids and the song being the sound track to this whole situation.

Why don't you think this song was intended to replicate Sicko Mode's success? It was released with a video. It's getting a massive radio push. He has several bundles lined up to increase it's pure sale figures. It's his first lead single since Sicko Mode and he went out of his way to create a lot of hype for it's release.

Most Travis fans don't like the song. They all think it's a step down from Sicko Mode. Twitter was ablaze when Sicko Mode was released. People are treating this new single like it was a miss and he could have done a lot better. Reaching #1 on Apple Music isn't a big deal for a successful mainstream rapper. Drake does it in his sleep. So does DaBaby, Young Thug and damn near every famous mainstream rapper.

I'm not trying to insinuate that Travis is done or ruined. Rappers drop a lot of songs and a bunch of them tend to be misses that won't connect with fans. It happens to everyone. The difference with this is that it's the first lead single since Travis' most well-received and best performing single so it's a bigger deal. He's been on several songs since ASTROWORLD dropped and no one said anything about them being good or bad features because they were just that - features. This is different. Whether it sounds like one or not, it's being treated like a lead single and so it's getting the attention and reception worthy of one.

Summer Walker is absolutely smashing on AM. I knew she'd do well, but she's currently got five songs above No Guidance and Hot, which have been the most dominant songs on AM for the past few weeks. With this kind of performance, I can see her doing anywhere from 65k to 80k (she could do more if she has any presence on Spotify, which I'm not expecting).

I don't understand how releasing a video and sending the song to radio is considering trying to replicate Sicko Mode's success. That's what most artists do when dropping a new single. The bundles will probably not have much an effect on his pure sales figures. I haven't seen it poorly received at all so I guess you guys are actively looking for hate on the song. If people hated the song it wouldn't be #1 on Apple Music right now. Most Travis fans don't like the song. They all think it's a step down from Sicko Mode. Reaching #1 on Apple Music isn't a big deal for a successful mainstream rapper. Drake does it in his sleep. So does DaBaby, Young Thug and damn near every famous mainstream rapper. Most Travis fans are burned out on Sicko Mode from what I've seen. Plus he's been performing this on tour, so it's not like these "Travis fans" have never heard it before if they really are fans. Also, reaching #1 on Apple Music in the amount of time he did is quite an achievement, I'm not sure why you're trying to discredit that with naming other HUGE rap artists that also happen to be VERY successful on Apple Music. I'm not trying to insinuate that Travis is done or ruined. Rappers drop a lot of songs and a bunch of them tend to be misses that won't connect with fans. It happens to everyone. Whether it sounds like one or not, it's being treated like a lead single and so it's getting the attention and reception worthy of one. I think this is just a one-off to keep fans pleased. They've been asking for months for him to officially release this since he's been performing it on tour. If it is a lead single, it'll probably end up like "Butterfly Effect" where it's included on the album a while after it's original release.

With most rap singles I think we gotta wait and see. They all kinda do well on the first week, "omg top XX on Apple Music!!", but only a few actually hold on after that.
"SICKO MODE" aside Travis hasn't been a massive act so far. I think with that in mind the song is doing fine at the moment.

Mayman first of all, I had no idea Young Thug and DaBaby were HUGE artists and I didn't realize mentioning them was meant to discredit Travis. Travis moved over 500K units first week with ASTROWORLD and went on an arena tour. Something both Young Thug and DaBaby can't do. I said what I said about reaching #1 on Apple Music because it's not a big deal for mainstream rappers to reach #1 on Apple Music, in record time or not. That wasn't to discredit Travis and I honestly don't know how you got that from anything I said. So, you don't see how releasing a single with a video, radio push and bundles equates to an artist and a label wanting to see said single be successful, preferably as successful as the last single released by the artist? Really? How many artists release bundles along with their singles? In this case, a single you insist is just a one-off. Even in the case of Butterfly Effect, it being added to ASTROWORLD meant it became the first single off ASTROWORLD, the same way Hotline Bling became the first single off Views when it got added to the album. I haven't said anything bad about Travis. All I've said is that his fans aren't reacting positively to his latest single - a fact.

In other new music news, the soundtrack for the acclaimed TV series, Euphoria, was released today. It's scored by Labrinth. Sabrina Claudio released a new album titled Truth Is, Doja Cat released a new single titled Bottom Bitch and Majid Jordan released a new single titled Superstar.

Sorry, I thought you were trying to discredit Travis when you mentioned those artists, that's my fault. Of course he wants the single to be successful, but I don't think anybody, including Travis, think that this single will do as well as Sicko Mode. I just think it's normal to go all out when you drop a single, which lately includes bundles. Recently, Ariana did it with BF and DCMA. Post did it with Goodbyes. Taylor did it with ME!. I think it's just becoming a common trend in the industry to do that.

Mayman which is exactly my point. The label wants this single to be successful, which is why they're going all out with pushing it. Don't you also find it interesting that all the singles you mentioned making use of a bundle weren't one-off singles? They're all songs that appeared/will appear on a parent album. Not every single gets that treatment. There are promotional singles that don't often don't get music videos or a radio push. This isn't that. This is being treated as a lead single. Because it doesn't sound like the smartest choice for a lead single doesn't mean it isn't being regarded as such. Also, labels don't know what will work as a single these days. They're becoming more open minded with letting artists try things with the hope that something sticks. I doubt Travis' label saw Sicko Mode becoming the success it became. Drake sent in his verse less than a day before the album was released and it only got chosen as the single to push off ASTROWORLD because it was the song with the most buzz off the album.

It will be interesting to see where Travis Scott and Dan+Shay/JB will debut this week. I'm also curious to find out where Playing Games will be this week since she has 2 versions of the song in the top 10 of AM.

10,000 Hours is probably the real contender for the coming weeks compared to whatever Travis put out.

Apple Music Top 5 without Summer and DaBaby album bombs
1. Travis Scott - HIGHEST IN THE ROOM 2. Juice WRLD & YoungBoy Never Broke Again - Bandit 3. Young Thug - Hot (feat. Gunna) 4. Chris Brown - No Guidance (feat. Drake) 5. Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber - 10,000 Hours
I'm surprised at how well the JB song is doing on AM for a country type track. Spotify will be interesting

Summer Walker could do 100K+ first week, wow. And she is def getting a decent charting song or two.
Ella Mai, Summer Walker, SZA, H.E.R., and Lizzo all having *real* mainstream success since 2017. Nice to see the industry finally becoming inviting for more black female singers again.
Rihanna/Beyonce were the only 2 seeing any real mainstream success for like 8 years straight.

hot girl bummer is still doing well on strea-are we seriously doing this???
It absolutely repulses me a song as disgusting as this is going viral. The song is basically what would happen is every shitty nihilist ""comedian"" on YouTube like Amaz*ng Athe*st, AD*se*fBuckley or On*s*on, if they made a song "mocking"/"parodying" pop songs and female rappers, only for it to just be an excuse to make a bunch of basic, tired, gross sexist jokes that shows they're no better, or in this case they're worse, than the culture they're supposedly making fun. Like, it's the misogyny of Love Me and Lucid Dreams but maximized and even more explicit...and it's in the Top 10 US Spotify.
If it somehow has more longevity on the Hot 100 over Hot Girl Summer...>:(

How exactly is that song anything like what you described? You are probably assuming the song is parodying Hot Girl Summer, but its not. The song was written and recorded days before Meg dropped Hot Girl Summer, the song is in no way a response, it was just a strange coincidence that two songs with similar titles were released at the same time. Blackbear admitted that. Hot Girl Summer is trash btw, I do not understand the love around the track. It sounds like In My Feelings.

Damn Highest In The Room got 9,915,105 streams WW first day on Spotify, it will be discounted later today a bit when they update Global Top 50 but still this is way more than i expected from the song. Only 10 songs have gotten more than 9 million streams in a day.

Both "Hot Girl Summer" and "hot girl bummer" are plays off of the phrase "hot girl summer" that became popular this year. The two songs are in no way related.

He'll probably end up anywhere from 8.3-9 million streams on the official Spotify Global chart. I'm surprised the song isn't #1 on US iTunes yet but we'll probably get some ridiculous figure from all the bundles he sells along with the single that Billboard will count. I won't be surprised if he ends up doing 100K pure sales. I wonder if Mayman will still see the song as a one-off single when/if it debuts at #1.

Lol like I said, we should've let the song's performance speak for itself. 9.9 million WW means over 4 million US, assuming the play counter is accurate.
