Maren has never had a crossover hit. "The Middle" is a pop song she was featured that wasn't released to her home format. Likewise, none of songs from her home format have ever crossed over before. "The Bones" is top 20 on Hot AC right now and did crack the top 50 on pop a few weeks ago, though. If any song is going to give her her first crossover hit, it's this one. Especially now that it seems her labek might be taking the crossover potential seriously with the new Hozier remix.

Yeah, you're right, I had things mixed up and was confused. With The Middle, I was thinking of her being a country artist singing a pop song, so the song itself isn't crossover, but I guess you could call her a "crossover artist" at least for that one song. I actually didn't even know The Bones was a solo song of hers that has already been out for a while, I thought the remix with her and Hozier was a completely brand new song. But it does sound more pop-leaning, so whether it's classified as a country song, a pop song, or whatever, it has the potential to be big on pop.

This was before No Guidance and Money in the Grave were released, both of which have surpassed 100M streams on Spotify.

I wouldn't mind seeing a full list of artists with the most songs over 100M+ Spotify streams. I think I've seen one before, but I can't remember where.

Regardless of whether or not HITR goes #1, We're probably getting a change at the top. Truth Hurts lost all radio momentum and Senorita came out of nowhere with a massive boost, so it is very much a threat to that #1 spot.

Can anyone explain the hype surrounding Summer Walker right now? That's not to be mean or anything, I'm just curious why it's her of all R&B singers. I know her album just dropped but I feel there's more attention being given to people like H.E.R. or Dani Leigh.

Can you not do this. This has nothing to do with any hot 100 let alone this week's. I don't want to scroll through pages of arguments to see updates on how the chart is shaping up, it doesn't belong here.

She's been slowly building her fanbase for the past 2 years. Also, her album features Drake, Usher, Bryson Tiller, Jhenè Aiko, 6LACK, PARTYNEXTDOOR and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. It's also been highly anticipated.

Personally, I'm shocked she's projected to do those numbers. I had her doing 50-60K first week, but she has a much more supportive fanbase that I thought.

That won't happen. Total sales for the week are still only about 1,000, and streams less than a million. You have nothing to worry about.

Wikipedia isn't always correct since anyone can edit the pages. "Cry for Me" has not received a radio release. It is on Today's Top Hits on Spotify, but we've had non-singles on there before.

Hmm idk. I feel like co-signs play out differently in R&B. I mean if big co-signs and collabs really did make new stars, then acts like Yuna and Jorja Smith should've crossed over by now. And even her the Drake collab didn't last long after a few weeks. Not to mention, she seems to be playing towards a slower, moodier, more down tempo R&B and other acts like 6LACK, Bryson Tiller and every OVO signee that's not Drake and they tend to only get moderate hits, usually below the Top 50. And those are acts who've had sizeable fanbases for a few years now.


But if I'm wrong in hindsight, then I'll fully admit I was wrong.
