How long Carrie's Before He Cheats made top 10 Hot 100 after its initial release? I remember, it stalled like in the lower top 20 for ages, almost fell off the chart and suddenly hit top 10 after pop radio embraced it.

The Macarena would be the biggest one I can think of released in 1993, became a smash in 1996.

Celine Dion - To Love You More. Recorded in 1993, became a hit in Asia in 1995, hit in US in 1998.
Jewel - Who Will Save Your Soul. Originally released in 1994. Became a hit in 1996.
Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner. Released in 1981. Became a hit after it was remixed in 1990.
2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This. Released in 1991, didn't become a US hit until 1994/1995.
Christopher Cross - Think of Laura. Released in 1982, became a hit in 1984.
Patti Austin & James Ingram - Baby Come to Me. Released in 1981, hit #1 in 1983.
Barenaked Ladies - Brian Wilson. Released in 1992, charted in the US in 1997.
Crazy Town - Butterfly. Released in late 1999, became a hit in early 2001.

2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This. Released in 1991, didn't become a US hit until 1994/1995. Crazy Town - Butterfly. Released in late 1999, became a hit in early 2001. Get Ready for This charted on Hot 100 in 1992, just climbed higher later. Butterfly is one of those belated hits, because it took a while for the album to take off. The album came out in late 1999, and Butterfly was the third single, so obviously it didn't chart earlier.

Chris Isaak - Wicked Game. Originally released in summer 1989 but didn't crack the top 40 until winter 1991. It got new life after being used in the film "Wild At Heart."
Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle. Hit #1 3 months after his death, but was originally released on his debut album and never intended to be a single. It caught on after being used in the TV movie "She Lives."

Sheriff - When I'm With You
Released in 1983, but didn't hit #1 until 1989. Ironically it was 4 years after the band broke up.

Did the label intentionally push a re-release? And if so why would they do this after the band broke up? I’ve always loved this song but I had no idea it peaked in 1989. But now that I think about it, it fits in the 1989 radio climate way better than it would’ve in 1983. It sounds like a song that could’ve been off a late 80s film soundtrack.

A couple of radio station DJs began playing it out of the blue to positive results and it caught on from that. The label decided to re-release the song due to the callout. Although the band did not get back together as a result, two of the members did come back together and formed a new group, Alias.

I think this fits the “songs that took a long time to become a top 10 hit” more. Hits don’t need to hit an arbitrary number, especially one as high as the top 10.

The Belle Stars' rendition of "Iko Iko" was released in 1982, but didn't become a US hit until 1989 when it was used in the film "Rain Man."

"Forever Young" by Alphaville came out in 1984. When the song was re-released in 1988, it peaked at #65 on US Hot 100.
Just for extra information - other artists sampled this record over the years and in particular Jay-Z and Mr. Hudson's reworked version called "Young Forever" peaked in the US at #10 in 2010.

Not sure if this technically counts, but the movie versions of Summer Nights and You're The One That I Want, both originally from the musical Grease which released in 1971, became top 5 hits in 1978, with the latter going to #1.

Holiday songs are really a special category, but "All I Want For Christmas Is You" was popular from the start. But I don't think it was until after "Love, Actually" (2003) when it achieved its current level of "everywhere every holiday season" ubiquity.

I'm not sure if any of these were mentioned yet. Sorry if any are duplicates.
"Into the Night" - Benny Mardones: Charted twice, in 1980 and 1989 "Unchained Melody" - Righteous Brothers: From the 60s, charted in 1990 "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen: Charted twice, in 1977 and 1992 "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" - Four Seasons: Charted 1975 and 1994
Here are some that did not chart twice, but came out later.
"Alison Road" - Gin Blossoms: Charted in 1994, but surprisingly came out in 1991. Even though it sounds very mid-90s. Definitely not early 90s.
“She Hates Me” - Puddle of Mudd: originally recorded in 1993, but re-recorded in 2002 and became a hit.
"Broken" - Seether: I don't know if this should count because they originally recorded it on their 2002 album, but the version that charted in 2004 / 2005 featured guest vocals from Amy Lee of Evanescence, so it was technically re-recorded.

Boy Krazy’s “That’s What Love Can Do” was originally released in the UK in 1991. However the mix was more mellow and less dancy. In late 1992, Denver’s KQKS started playing the popular Hot Tracks remix. Radio stations followed. It ended up becoming a major hit in 1993.
