Surprised no one’s mentioned Candle in the Wind by Elton John. Originally it was an album track on 1973’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, it was released as a single in the UK in 1974 (where it hit #11), but not in the US, as the label chose instead to promote Bennie and the Jets. It would not get a US release until 1987 as a live recording, where it would hit number 6 the following year. And of course, in 1997 it was rewritten and re-recorded following the death of Princess Diana, with the proceeds going to Diana’s various charities. This version would become the highest selling song of all time

I think we may be able to add Sia's Unstoppable to the list. Originally released in 2016 it's getting a resurgence.

Pharrell's "Just a Cloud Away" just cracked the pop chart and was originally released in 2013 (along with Happy).

An obvious current example in the US is Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill". It was a moderate hit in 1985, hitting #30, but post-Stranger Things has reached #4 on the Hot 100 and moving toward the top 20 at CHR. (Of note, a couple of years ago Meg Myers' cover went to #1 at Altermative.)

A few more of late 80s or early 90s dance hits (and in some cases weren't exactly pop hits). They were mainly played on rhythmic/dance top 40 stations of that era. Pretty Poison is best know for their only pop hit "Catch Me I'm Falling" from 1987. The follow-up single in 1988, " Night Time", was actually a remix of a song that was originally released in 1984. George Lamond's 1990 freestyle dance hit " Bad of the Heart" was actually released two years earlier as part of the act Loose Touch. Paula Abdul's first single "Knocked Out" in 1988 was re-released as a single the following year after achieving pop success with "Straight Up". The first time around, "Knocked Out" wasn't making much traction in the pop charts. Not sure if it ever made the Billboard Dance/Club charts but the 1992 NY house track "Follow Me" by Aly-us gotten airplay on a few rhythmic or urban stations in 1994. It was a big record in Chicago that year, getting heavy airplay on B96 (then a rhythmic/dance pop station) and urban WGCI. It was also played in Los Angeles, airing on Power 106. Expose's 1987 hit " Point of No Return" was actually a remix/re-recording of an earlier release from 1984/85 (the group also had a different lineup). Don't believe it was ever a pop hit but DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's first single " Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble" from 1986 was remixed two years later. It's probably best know for appearing in an 1990 episode of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" where Will and Carlton try to impress girls at a mall. Gabrielle's 1993 hit "Dreams" was originally made in 1991 in the UK but was re-recorded over a sampling clearance issue (Tracy Chapman's "Fast Cars"). The re-recording version is the best known version of the song though there were also dance remixes which were heard on the rhythmic top 40 stations of that era. Real McCoy's "Another Night" was first released in Germany and other European countries in 1993 and entered the US market in 1994 (charting in late 1994/early 1995). Technotronic's 1992 hit "Move This" was part of the group's 1989 album "Pump Up the Jam" (which featured the megahit of the same name). Not sure if it ever charted on the dance/club charts but Lil Suzy's 1991 release "Take Me In Your Arms" wasn't a club/dance hit until various radio stations (mainly rhythmic ones) playing it between 1992 and 1994.

Robyn's pop hit "Do You Really Want Me (Show Respect)" was first released in 1995 in her native Sweden and few other European countries. The song did not become a pop hit in the USA or UK until 1998.

These are for the UK:
N Sync's first 2 singles became hits over a year later after their international status blue up.
"I Want You Back" was released in November 1997 but didn't hit the UK top 5 until February 1999. "Tearin Up My Heart" was released in September 1997 but didn't hit the top 10 until June 1999.
Celine Dion - Misled was released in April 1994 (hit #40) but didn't peak until re-released in December 1995 (reached #15).

Lady Gaga - Bloody Mary
Miguel - Sure Thing (Back in 2010 it was a hit only in USA, it became a worldwide hit only very recently thanks to tiktok.)
Generally with the power of tiktok it's going to be more common. Especially since less and less people are listening to new music these days........

Wasn’t Latch by disclosure released in 2012? Yes it did and it was a crossover hit on urban/rhythmic radio in the US during 2014.
