It’s kinda baffling that she’s the most successful Disney girl but eh Is she? I wouldn't say so. Maybe amongst a certain demographic, but Miley Cyrus seems to be the most ubiquitous name when considering musicians from Disney. Miley's album sales and touring grosses trump all the Disney stars as well. Selena has managed to have amazing streaming and had amassed a massive social media presence, but when it comes to actually recognizing the star by name, face, or song by a the largest group of people, Miley pretty easily should have that upper hand. That's not to discredit Selena's success, though. Her ability to still maintain hits and secure hype this long into her career is unmatched by any previous Disney starlet, including Miley. (Though Demi isn't far behind. I'm sure her return will also be big, though not necessarily as big as LYTLM.) And I would absolutely say Selena is the second most recognizable of the stars in this category. Which is quite a feat given how huge Hilary Duff and Raven-Symoné were at their peaks too (even if that didn't translate into massive musical success). (Also is we're broadening our definition of Disney star then Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera all take the cake.)

Right, because what we want is more people running around saying every song sucks without giving an explanation as to why. This is why stan Twitter is the worst as it is No, what we need is for people to stop posting their opinions of songs in this thread altogether. How does that have any merit in a thread designed for discussion on the inner workings of the Hot 100? It doesn't. Posting all of these "this song sucks and here's why" in a thread meant to be "this song is #1 and here's why" is way more "stan Twitter" IMO. I feel like very little discussion would happen if all anyone did was talk about numbers. There would be far less engagements on threads related to the charts. Why is this song #1? Here's why. Okay, discussion over, folks.

Miley was definitely wayyy bigger than Selena at her peak, for sure. My mind is just blown that Selena is big enough to get these kinds of numbers. I would have never predicted it.

Selena hasn't had a solo top 10 hit since "Hands to Myself" which was almost 4 years ago.
Her next few singles "Bad Liar", "Fetish", "Back to You", "Wolves" barely made top 20.
So it's pretty amazing that she may have a #1 with "Lose You to Love Me"

I wish Lizzo broke Iggy’s record, but oh well I’m honestly sad that SelGo didn’t release at the beginning of the tracking week, easy chart topper. It’s kinda baffling that she’s the most successful Disney girl but eh I just kinda wish she released it on October 19th and she'd probably have a #1 right now :( But her chances look really good for next week!

Why is his new album divisive? Because it sucks but his fanbase isn't ready for that conversation. Don't @ me. Don’t worry I don’t speak millennial

Last Scottish no 1 was We Found Love by Rihanna and Calvin Harris, last major artist not feature Scottish number one was Simple Minds Dont You Forget About Me in 1985, before that Eurythmics and Sweet Dreams, last Scottish solo artist to have number 1 on Billboard hot 100 was Sheena Easton in 1981 with "Morning Train". More no 1 by Scotland's acts: Bay City Rollers 1976 Average White Band 1975 Lulu 1967 Donovan 1966 This is sort of a correction, but the Eurythmics aren't exactly a Scottish duo. Annie Lennox is Scottish, but Dave Stewart is English, plus the band was created in London, England. Not saying you shouldn't necessarily group the Eurythmics among these Scottish acts with a #1 hit, but I just thought it's worth making this clear.

The song is not that great (for me) but chart wise it's nice to see some action at the top. With Selena and Lizzo joining the fun next week it's gonna be even better.
I hope Circles can get a week at the top spot too.

2017 was such a light year for bad #1's though like what was the worst #1 of that year Shape Of You? Certainly a song with a annoying chart run but the song itself was only sorta bad. Look What You Made Me Do sucked This song is over-hated. Yes, the chorus is bad. Nobody will deny that. I will even concede that it is one of the worst choruses I've ever heard. But go listen to the first ~5 seconds. The background and environment it creates are just incredible. It is immediately followed by a catchy, lyrically snappy verse. After that, the pre-chorus comes in and it is close to perfection. It blends perfectly from the verse and the melody is beautiful, the words intimidating. (chorus yikes) Another verse is next, with a catchy, menacing addendum that leads perfectly ("Maybe I got mine, but you'll all get yours.") into the drop. And then it's the second pre-chorus. OH MY GOD THE SECOND PRE-CHORUS! It is incredible. Some layers of synths bring the second pre-chorus into overdrive and it is just perfection. Honestly the only problem with this snippet of musical perfection is that you know the disappointing chorus is next. After said disappointing chorus, the iconic bridge comes. It's such a cool part. The sung section is catchy and lyrically loaded, while the spoken part is laden with meaning (and made sonically fascinating by the quiet "look what you made me do" in the background). So yes, the chorus sucks. But imo, it's still a good song because of the awesomeness of the rest of it. Thanks for coming to my TED® talk.

Someone You Loved is the worst number one for years, I'm glad we can all agree on that Uh except we don't. Clearly you are just ignoring all the other posts in this thread that disagree with you.

Happy for Lewis. Someone You Loved isn't a great song, but it's nowhere near as awful as some people say it is.

God exists, and this is His gift to us. Thank You for giving us Lewis Capaldi. He's a very fun personality, and Someone You Loved is one of the greatest song ever.
BTW, I do think Someone You Loved will have a huge SD on Rankdown.

sorry to burst y'alls bubbles, but you aren't Todd in the Shadows or even Spectrum Pulse. we don't need a poorly written two paragraph analysis on how this song sucks, sometimes it ain't that deep. Not everyone needs to be Todd in the Shadows to express their opinions on a song in detail, lmao
