This is one of my childhood favorites ever, and one of my all time fave Amy Grant songs!
This is the version I grew up hearing. Brings back so many memories!!!! This literally gives me goosebumps!
7 inch single mix
original version
It was the third pop single off her 5Γ platinum-selling album Heart in Motion and the only one from the album to be released to both secular and Christian radio. It was Grant's second Christian radio single.
In the United States the song was No. 1 for three weeks on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, spending 13 weeks in the top 10 and 32 weeks on the chart overall. It peaked at No. 7 on the Hot 100 where it spent four weeks in the top 10.

I prefer all the uptempo singles from the album, but I like it. It was the third pop single off her 5Γ platinum-selling album Heart in Motion and the only one from the album to be released to both secular and Christian radio. It was Grant's second Christian radio single. I realize this is from Wikipedia, but it's wrong. lol She was massive at Christian radio throughout the 80s and 90s and had dozens of Top 10 hits including more from this album. Billboard didn't have a Christian Songs chart until 2003, but Radio & Records began tracking Christian airplay 20 years prior.

Heard this all the time on AC radio (like Lite FM 93.9) in my market. One of my favorites from her and one of the best AC ballads of the 90s.

29 years ago today, "That's What Love Is for" by Amy Grant scored its third and final week at No.1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. I did not like the single mix as much as the edit of the album version. Haha! Anyway, it's one of my favourite songs by her from her Pop masterpiece, "Heart in Motion." I love that album!

A good song. It has a pretty melody and I like it a lot, but of the five pop singles from the album, it's my least favorite. I prefer the album version as well.

In terms of the ballad singles from this album, I definitely prefer the single version of "I Will Remember You." But this is a lovely early 90's AC moment, the chorus is great. I definitely prefer the single mix to the album version (although that synth sax solo is awful, lol. They should have kept the guitar solo from the album version or at least got a real saxophone).
