Prediction: If Sunflower manages to survive this week then it'll remain on the charts until the next major album bomb (Adele?)

Prediction: If Sunflower manages to survive this week then it'll remain on the charts until the next major album bomb (Adele?) That's assuming that Sunflower manages to rise a bit after the Kanye debut wears off rather than continue a slow decline. We'll see how long it lasts, though.

The comparison between Lose You to Love Me and Thank U, Next reminded me that there's really quite a few songs from pop stars that hit #1 with references (true or not) that it's about their celebrity exes Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball Taylor Swift's first ever #1 We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Katy Perry's #1 debut Part of Me Not a pop hit, but still about an ex: Highest in the Room. HITR is not about an ex.

Not a pop hit, but still about an ex: Highest in the Room. HITR is not about an ex. Yeah he wrote it long before him and Kylie broke up

So, Bill, random story about that particular Hot 100. When I was recently in St. Vincent during the course of an entire dinner the restaurant I was in kept playing "Said I Loved You...But I Lied" on loop over and over again. I took me about an hour to get done with the meal, and I was pretty irritated at hearing the song more than a dozen times, that's for sure.

Bill - Love how you use the actual single covers on your graphics. Many lazy or ignorant chart sites only use generic artist / Foreign Release / LP cover pix. Makes all the authentic difference!

It's looking like Lose You to Love Me, 10,000 Hours, Memories, Good As Hell, and Trampoline are going to be future top ten mainstays. Truth Hurts, No Guidance, and Senorita will probably linger for a few more weeks. Circles has a long way to go. Not that I don't like trampoline, it's an ok song imo, but it's definetly not a top 10 hit, billboard is totally missing the mark. I will ask any of my classmates and literally no one will know it.

Is Roxanne the next big rap hit? Reminds me of Post Malone, but it kind of a chill nice song. I can see it doing very well.

I would have said the same thing a few weeks ago, but the Zayn remix is starting to give it more of a streaming presence. It just reached a new peak of #30 on Spotify.

What do you mean by. "Billboard is totally missing the mark"? Billboard just collects the data and presents it. It's not like they choose which songs go where themselves. "Trampoline" is as high as it is because its sales, streaming, and airplay all got it there. Perhaps "Trampoline" is just big outside of your bubble.

Fun Fact #36729901
2019 is the first year since 2014 to only have one song peak at #1 for 10 weeks or more

Retro Hot 100: 26 Years Ago How did you manage to find out the units that the song sold that week? “+100K”? I’m always curious to know the weekly sales of number one songs around this time. A lot of the Billboard articles from the early 90’s are missing in Google Books.

Bad to You is out but I doubt it'll do better than Don't Call Me Angel. It's a little better only by virtue that Normani and Nicki make more sense as collaborators than Miley or Lana but it's still kinda underwhelming but I guess it makes sense. It's not like there was any pop songs this year about a female being "bad" and acting like a "guy" right?
Wait...

kierz7 I got that data from that week's Hot 100 Singles Spotlight column in the print edition. I own many years worth. Sometimes they'd give us some numbers in the formative years of the SoundScan era, sometimes not. In this case, it was strictly the sales data. In that case, do you have the sales data of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” during its 14 week run? Or at least some of its run? I’m so curious now! 😇

I think the worst thing about Someone You Loved being a smash hit is that is now going to be the go-to song for "emotional scenes" in TV shows for years to come, and what worse sound could there be to score a character saying goodbye or dying than "and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-"
