I didn't realize "Always Be My Baby" spent 9 weeks at #2 on the Hot 100.

What's the record for most #1 hits in a single year? If not for OTR we might've beaten that at this rate Even if OTR didn't exist this year def wouldn't have beaten 1988 & 1989 having 32 #1's each. THIRTY TWO?!?!? Holy crap

Holy crap Results of trying to track popularity prior to digital technology and with clear label influence. The charts pace then was the equivalent of like every top 5 hit today going #1. (There's been 30 top 5 peaking songs so far in 2019)

Can an older, more seasoned, chart watcher explain the following: How on earth did Toni Braxton’s “He Wasn’t Man Enough” peak at #10 on the Hot 100 Y/E charts (2000) when it only spent 7 weeks in the top ten and peaked at #2 for a single week? There were a multitude of songs of which spent double digit weeks in the top ten that year and yet some ranked much lower on the Y/E charts, including several songs of which hit number one also. I’m stunned!!! 😳 I thought about this too! Here's the chart run: it actually had huge longevity in the top 20 (24 weeks!), and even 20 weeks in the top 15. I do find it surprising that it outranked "Try Again" (15 weeks in the top 10, ~24 weeks in the top 20) on the year end chart (#12) 7 Weeks: Top 10 24 Weeks: Top 20 37 Weeks: Overall 63-55-48-39-35-24-3-2-2-4-4-5-11-12-16-15-14-14-12-10-11-13-13-13-15-16-14-13-17-19-23-29-37-33-34-41-48 Try Again 15 Weeks: Top 10 22 Weeks: Top 20 32 Weeks: Overall 59-53-38-28-21-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-6-*1*-2-2-2-2-3-4-5-5-6-9-13-14-16-23-22-33-36-43

If Sunflower leaves this week, but has enough points to be top 25 next week (probably unlikely, but still), would it return to the Hot 100? No. Once a song goes recurrent, it needs to be showing active increases to return from recurrency, even if it is in the top 25. Otherwise songs would bump in and out of recurrency fairly often.

Preparing year-end lists and unless Robbery somehow sneaks in, SYL has the number one for worst on lock.
Old Town Road and when the party's over are neck and neck for the top spot for the best.

Thats a good song wdym I mean I don't like Juice WRLD in general but him doing an even worse "singing" that combines the worst of emo and trap rap while doubling down on whininess just makes him exponentially worse

Only three debuts this week, weird I was expecting more: DHL (BOTW), Internet Money (WOTW), and Lose You to Love Me
Wish Wish, boyfriend, Callaita, Lalala, Otro Trago, The Git Up, Wow. and (possibly) Sunflower are all gone next week. Also, why does it look like Circles is making a play for number one? I know it's radio is strong but are sales, streaming and Youtube also that strong as well?

Good As Hell might be the biggest competitor to LYTLM:
It's way ahead in airplay Way closer than SYL in sales Had about 65% of the Spotify streams of LYTLM yesterday.
Youtube might be the deciding factor there.
Would be amazing if we saw: 15->1 14->2 in the same week

It would be interesting to see how many weeks each song was ahead of the other. It's also funny that the last chart week for "HWMEFM" was the last chart week of the 2000 chart year. Anyway "HWMEFM" held on in the top 20 longer, and it still had weeks in the top 40 when "Try Again" was no longer charting.

It would be great if the end of the Billboard tracking year or the end of the year had Circles as #1.

Off-topic, but hilarious. Something happened in late September (his conscience kicking in?) that made Post almost completely scrap Circles from his tour setlist. 18 shows in October, so far, and Circles was only performed twice! And it's his biggest song right now, not some random album track.

Not Maroon 5 at #2 on iTunes and top 20 on Spotify (top 10 without Kanye's album bomb). I guess they didn't need The Voice after all.
