SO disappointed to see "Out There" so early. That song is absolutely amazing, and PERFECT for Luke's voice! One of the reasons I love Luke is because he can do the country/rock style right, which is something that seems to be a true art form in today's modern country, especially for the male artists.

I absolutely love "One Number Away." Overplay on the radio did kill this one a bit for me, however I do still love everything about it. Definitely an album highlight imo!

The reggae influence in Don't Tempt Me is interesting at least.
The soaring vocal in the end of Must've Never Met You is a moment in this album.
Don't really like how poppy those percussions sound in Memories Are Made Of.
Idk whether I have commented on One Number Away in year-end rankdown or somewhere else, but this has always sounded like a Sam Hunt song.

I don't even know if I could participate in a Luke Combs rankdown. Picking between songs is like picking between adorable puppies at a pet shop, they're all 9s or 10s in my book. Beautiful Crazy is a toss up between #1 and #2 on my Best of 2019 list (the other song is God's Country), and yet I don't even know if it'd make it out of the Top 10 on this album (yes, I'm a total stan, although that should be quite obvious considering my profile picture).

What a strong top 5! Here's my prediction for how this will play out:
5. Houston, We Got A Problem (single bias, y'all)
4. Beautiful Crazy (this seems to have its fair share of haters. We'll see if they turn out to be a vocal minority or not!)
3. She Got The Best Of Me (Great song, but will get lost in the shuffle in when it goes up against the other two remaining hits)
2. Hurricane (Could win, but WIRIP exists)

I'm not surprised at all that the top 5 is mostly the singles, or that "One Number Away" is the first single out. I imagine that "When It Rains It Pours" will win (I wasn't sure that people loved it as much as they do), but it will be interesting to find out!

A couple of people had predicted "Beautiful Crazy" would make it as far as #4, but alas, it's the first song to exit in the Top 5! This marks the loss of gardyfan's, Darkest Hour's, and my own #2, while on the flip side .indulgecountry finally gets rid of his #16 and George Strait Junkie finally says bye to a #17. Amid all that, Kanenrá:ke, HeyHeyHey, and g8erboi all score a perfect ranking. I'm quite glad this at least managed to make it to the Top 5. It's just such a beautiful song. Everything from the lyrics to the instrumental is gorgeous. The fact that this song has haters...I mean, I'm single too but damn! What did Luke Combs do?! Up next, someone loses their #1! Who will it be? |
