2004. It had some of the best and most iconic hits and albums of that decade 2004 is the year that stands out the most for me too looking at my last.fm stats. My top scrobbled albums from that year (from 2 years of having a last.fm account). Sum 41 - Chuck Jimmy Eat World - Futures
Muse - Absolution Green Day - American Idiot Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway Arcade Fire - Funeral K-Os - Joyful Rebellion Avril Lavigne - Under My Skin The Killers - Hot Fuss Gwen Stefani - Love Angel Music Baby Keane - Hopes and Fears Kanye West - The College Dropout Mastodon - Leviathan My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News

outside of the hot 100 charts, 2017 easily takes the cake.

My favorite year in music is 1959, when I was 16 years old.

1994 is it for me. I wish I could go with both 1993 and 1994, but if I had to pick one, it has to be 1994. So many incredible songs and albums were released that year.

1999 is so special for me, because that's the year I fell in love with music and knew it was a passion of mine. Obviously there is a bias there, but I do feel like there was a lot of diversity in pop that year.

1995. Easily.
For one, a lot of classic albums were released that year: Daydream (Mariah Carey) Jagged Little Pill (Alanis Morissette) Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (Smashing Pumpkins) Tragic Kingdom (No Doubt) Relish (Joan Osborne) The Woman in Me (Shania Twain) The Bends (Radiohead) Pieces of You (Jewel) Brown Sugar (D'Angelo) Garbage (Garbage) It Matters to Me (Faith Hill) What's the Story Morning Glory? (Oasis) Fresh Horses (Garth Brooks) Dreaming of You (Selena) Waiting to Exhale soundtrack
There were also classic singles, some aided by albums carrying over from 1994: "Waterfalls" (TLC) "Gangsta's Paradise" (Coolio) "Name" (Goo Goo Dolls) "Dear Mama" - 2Pac "Before You Walk out of My Life" and "Don't Take It Personal" (Monica) "Candy Rain" (Soul for Real) "Tomorrow" (Silverchair) "Freak Like Me" (Adina Howard) "Run-Around" (Blues Traveler) "Kiss From a Rose" (Seal) "No More I Love Yous" (Annie Lennox) "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" (O.D.B.) "As I Lay Me Down" (Sophie B Hawkins) "Scream" (Michael/Janet Jackson) "I Wish" (Skee-Lo) "Soon As I Get Home" (Faith Evans) "You Don't Know How it Feels" (Tom Petty) "I Got 5 On It" (Luniz) "Back For Good" (Take That) "One More Chance/Stay With Me" - Notorious B.I.G. "This is How We Do It" (Montell Jordan) "Strong Enough" (Sheryl Crow) "Shook Ones" (Mobb Deep) "Take A Bow" (Madonna) "Santa Monica" (Everclear)
The variety in that music is pretty outstanding. I have a lot of good memories attached to all of that music as well.

2012 was the last year I remember having tons of music I thought was impactful. 2013-2019 are all a huge blur to me music-wise because in the wake of the digital/streaming era where so many artists and sounds could easily be discovered (rightfully so) there was no clear 'trend' at any certain year thus the impact of that year wore off pretty quickly in my mind. If I had to pick one year, I think 2007 was the one that defined my taste the most and allowed me to recognise when I hear a good song, followed by 2012 and 2014.

2015 holds a special place for me. Musically, so much great music, both mainstream and otherwise, but it's also the year I really started following music.

1955 to 1961. To choose one year, I'd say 1959

I honestly don't have A favorite year per say, but one of my favs musically was 2005. We had Emancipation and Breakway domination (which were two pivotal albums for me), great albums from Gwen, Destiny's Child, Faith Hill, the list goes on. We also had a huge list of songs by various artists that are now iconic to me. It was a fun, exciting year to follow music for sure! I'd argue 96 and 97 are up there for me too.
