okay, it may be a bit early for this, but since i have a lot of free time right now, and probably won't have as much later on, i decided to put together my top 100 rap songs of this decade. obviously, it goes without saying this list is subjective, and it may involve more "new era" songs than most people would expect. but with that being said, i'll be doing reveals one by one, and will probably go on until i'm tired.
here's the list so far:
100. playboi carti - kelly k 99. nav ft. ft travis scott - champion 98. chief keef - faneto 97. lil baby - freestyle 96. j. cole ft. dababy & lute - under the sun 95. lil skies - welcome to the rodeo 94. kendrick lamar - i 93. drake - nice for what 92. dababy - goin' baby 91. lil peep - beamer boy 90. travis scott ft. kacy hill - 90210 89. 6ix9ine ft. trifedrew - dummy 88. migos ft. lil uzi vert - bad & boujee 87. future - codeine crazy

#100: Playboi Carti - Kelly K
one of the many carti songs on here, but everything about this is great. carti's vocals, the hook and the production by southside. my main query with this is that it's a bit long, but that doesn't stop it from making this list. part of a great project, and honestly has one of the best beats of 2017, which carti manages to execute superbly. #100.

#99: NAV ft. Travis Scott - Champion
not the biggest fan of nav, but this song is amazing, albeit mostly due to the travis feature. the production is amazing, and i honestly think this is one of travis' best features, as he does carry the song hard. nav isn't awful either, usually he sounds incredibly uninterested, but he shows some emotion here and executes the beat pretty well. super-replayable too. #99

#98: Chief Keef - Faneto
the lowest of the 4 chief keef songs on here, but still a damn banger. this song always manages to get me hyped @ parties, and everything from the energetic/aggressive vocals by chief keef makes this enjoyable. honestly, one of the many trap classics from chief keef. my #98.

#97: Lil Baby - Freestyle
i'm upset this never managed to chart, and spent SO long on bubbling under, but hey. this has one of lil baby's smoothest flows, and it's complimented very well by davincini's production. i actually think his delivery suits this type of beat very well, making this more replayable. again, one of the many songs by lil baby that appear on this list. #97

#96: J. Cole ft. DaBaby & Lute - Under The Sun
one of the newer songs on this list, but i really loved everything about this track. lute's wordplay, dababy's charisma, and j.cole's flow. that, accompanied by a very nice sample and an infectious hook provided by kendrick lamar, this song manages to nab the #96 spot and make this list quite easily. great song. #96

#95: Lil Skies - Welcome To The Rodeo
a very different song from lil skies, but still slaps. great production, and lil skies flows and executes over it perfectly. whilst not necessarily "lyrical", the lyrics actually containing substance does help with its rank. #95

#94: Kendrick Lamar - i
this may be a bit low, but it's one of many kendrick songs that appear on this list. as w most other songs, the production is insane, as is kendrick's flow and delivery. and obviously, the lyrical factors. it's getting hard to write these without being repetitive, but hey. #94

#93: Drake - Nice For What
not the biggest drake fan, but this is one of his few appearances on this list, but this is just a feel good song. all the way from the production and the lauryn hill sample to the melody, the song is just infectious. however, i do still feel like the beat could have been used on someone better. but whatever, it's still a pretty great song. #93

#92: DaBaby - Goin' Baby
it's only dababy's first year of being in the "mainstream", but i've really enjoyed most, if not all, of what i've heard from him, and this is one of his best. the hard hitting instrumental by jetsonmade perfectly suits dababy's charisma, and he delivers, as per usual with a strong hitting hook and verses. very replayable and energetic. my #92

#91: Lil Peep - Beamer Boy
one hell of a song from peep, and one of the few that appear on this list. i don't really have much to say about this, but lil peep's vocals just suit this production very well, and it's just so smooth. great song. #91

#90: Travis Scott ft. Kacy Hill - 90210
i think this song just has a great atmosphere, and amazing synergy. travis' smooth vocals just accompany this beat too well, as does kacy's chorus. i just really enjoy the vibe on this song. #90

89: 6IX9INE ft. TrifeDrew - DUMMY
ah yes, a 6ix9ine song on a decade end list. not crazy. but 6ix9ine is carried hard on this track by someone i've literally never heard of otherwise. great hook, and impeccable production, probably one of the best of 2018. again, i quite enjoy the vibe of this track. #89

#88: Migos ft. Lil Uzi Vert - Bad And Boujee
here's another great trap hit, really is nearly 3 years old. but when i first heard this beat and saw that uzi was featured, i really didn't know how he'd do on it. but he really does kill it. not his usual style, but i do think his delivery and flow went well with this beat. offset's hook is very strong, and arguably one of the most rememberable of 2016. quavo, who's usually insufferable, is actually pretty good on this track, probably because he doesn't use much autotune (if at all), and does the verse instead. also, great production by metro as per usual. #88

#87: Future - Codeine Crazy
thank fuck this was finally put on spotify, but this is a trap classic, imo. this'd be higher on most rap-based lists (probably), but it's my #87. future's vocals just suit the production really well, and idk, it almost makes you feel like you're in a different world when you're listening to this track. one of future's best. my #87

#86: Young Thug ft. Lil Baby - Bad Bad Bad
time for some more reveals since i finally have the time, but this is the most recent song on this list, but it's here for a reason. amazing production by wheezy coupled by really nice verses from both lil baby and thugger, as well as an insanely rememberable hook. a lot of replayability, and honestly, one of my favourite songs by thug. #86
