don't know if i would put Lewis Capaldi up there He scored a #1 hit and one of the biggest radio hits of the year. Lil Nas X did the same thing and I put him up there, too. Plus no one knows the future. He could become a legit star tomorrow. European acts, especially if they're playing more the adult-contemporary crowd, don't tend to be bigger artists stateside. Artists like Ed Sheeran, Adele and Sam Smtih are the exception and even then, they've starting leaning more towards pop. Nas X at least has the benefit of being an urban artist.

Why has it risen so fast? It doesn't have a video and it had less than a million views only a few days ago.

That app has spawned a lot of songs onto the Hot 100 / Bubbling Under or making them bigger hits, such as: "Old Town Road" "Valentino" "The Git Up" "223's" "Lalala" "Ride It" "My Type" "STUPID" "Envy Me" "Juicy" "Shotta Flow" "Womp Womp" "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" "Truth Hurts" and many more to come... "ROXANNE"

I think it's great that people find new music via TikTok! I wonder if we'll see artists trying to stack their music with meme-able lyrics in hopes that tiktok will latch on to it lol

Pretty much. Is TikTok the reason this song is somehow at #9 on the Spotify charts??? Cause that's the only way I see this nothing of a song going this viral. And if so, why did we choose this song instead of 'STUPID' by Ashnikko? Someone with actual charisma and who would eat all this melodic rappers for lunch? I do like ROXANNE to an extent, but I love Ashnikko, her latest EP is pretty great tbh

This year was just so extremely boring imo. Besides tu,n and Billie we didn’t have really any other notable albums till the summer. Jan/Feb was all Ariana but she slowed down quick. March-July was basically the Lil Nas X show. Then things started to pick up a bit in those summer months, but still 2019 just felt dull. Thankfully tho, 2020 is looking to be insane Have to disagree, this year had a lot of variety, especially compared to last year

If I liked anything about 2019, it's that it set up a bunch of artists to be future stars. Quick examples are Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Summer Walker, Lizzo, Lewis Capaldi. Hell, I'll even throw Lil Nas X in there. I'm excited that there's a new class of artists who have a chance to establish their own legacies. That's one of the things I'm excited for in this new decade. Throw in Billie Eilish, and those are the people who will start to define the sound of the next decade. I can't wait to see more from them - the first big album from Lizzo, LNX's debut album, more refined music from Lewis, Summer and MTS/DaBaby growing into big names in their respective genres... This is quite the list here.

This is probably so random but am i the only one surprised how heat by chris brown is actually charting fairly well. No guidance was obvious to why it was a hit but this was completely surprising considering who it is

This year was great, just like 2017. Last year (2018) was really dull and boring for me. I like the Lil Nas X run and number of songs that competed. I like how Billy Ray, Bastille, Panic at the Disco, Lady Gaga, Jonas and others rose back to the spotlight briefly. Would be interesting to see if anymore artists who hadn't had a top 10 hit in over 5 years, make a comeback in 2020.

Yeah, 2018 was the most boring year of the decade.
Imo for this week, Selena and Post for the #1 spot, SYL #3, TH #4, Senorita/Good As Hell #5 and #6.
"Hot" by Young Thug will probably be in the top 10 (top 15 for sure), it's #2 on Spotify (combined) and #8 and #15 on Apple + MV.
I can see Lipa's song debuting in the top 30. For example, let's compare this song to "Never Really Over" (#15 debut): radio: (in aud) - DSN (5.6); NRO (19.3) sales: first 2 days on iTunes: both songs in the top 3 streaming: Spotify: 1st day- NRO [1,027,000] DSN [968,000]; YouTube WW: first 2 days- NRO [21 million views], DSN 2 days [9 million views]; Apple: NRO was in the top 40-50 iirc first week, DSN is currently #98.
NRO is much bigger on radio, they are equal on sales, and NRO is bigger on streaming so far, we'll see, it's still early. I know my predictions are weird...but they are usually correct (70%).
Also a song to watch ~ 21 Savage - Immortal (top 40)

Tbh Rihanna and Adele deserve to flop let's boycott them. Stream "All I Want for Christmas Is You", the gift that keeps on giving. i prefer Adele to debut at #1 then AIWFCIY at #1 Filthy heathen, the power of Mariah compels you.

Also a song to watch ~ 21 Savage - Immortal (top 40) Dua is a streaming queen, so I think she'll do well with that. I mean her debut album has 6 billion streams combined. New Rules was also a SMASH on pop radio, idk if the US would be here for a disco song though.

I don't understand what you mean about Gaga rising back to the spotlight "briefly". She's been in the spotlight since at least 2015 since the ARTPOP debacle. She's been doing Oscars Performances (Julie Andrew's Tribute, Til It Happens To You, Shallow w/Bradley Cooper), collecting numerous awards for her acting and music, she had the entire Joanne era and the Super Bowl where Million Reasons peaked at #4 and Perfect Illusion peaked at #15, then she filmed the critical darling A Star Is Born and collected her first #1 since Born This Way. Gaga is someone who will always be in the spotlight with her eras. I mean there's a reason she's collected at least one Top 4 hit from every era now. Now, she has a successful Vegas residency and is coming with LG6 next year hopefully.

When I compare it to "Motivation" by Normani, Dua is pretty much bigger in every metric. Motivation debuted at #33 (#10 Digital, #25 Streaming~16.2 mil and 6,6 mil in all-format radio), DSN will probably be in the top 5 in sales with bigger lead on radio and equal streaming.

I'm conflicted on TikTok being used to get songs popular. I mean on one hand the quality of songs that get popular off of TikTok has been better than average: SLOW DANCING IN THE DRK, Juicy, Old Town Road, STUPID, Truth Hurts, etc. On the other hand, nothing songs like Roxanne, Ransom and 223's also got big so....

I really like TikTok because the artists benefiting from it are mostly small and unestablished artists. It's great to have a platform that can act as a launchpad for careers.
