Is this a mistake, or is the cutoff now expected to be lower than it was previously? Life Is Good was expected to miss the cut as recently as last week. mistake, LIG is not locked Maybe it would be if its chart run was 10 years ago.

Blinding Lights is taking time off the chart for the holidays on a well-earned vacation, but in all likelihood will be setting new records next week by returning to the top ten after the Christmas blizzard gets bulldozed off the chart. In the meantime, as of the Jan 2, 2021 Hot 100 here's where songs on that chart would appear on an all-time top 10,000 list. Last Week | This Week | Chg | Track | Artist | Total Pts | 919 | 657 | 262 | All I Want For Christmas Is You | Mariah Carey (combined runs) | 681,605 | 970 | 847 | 123 | Mood | 24KGoldn and Iann Dior | 645,252 | 1333 | 1315 | 18 | I Hope | Gabby Barrett | 551,208 | 1459 | 1418 | 41 | Laugh Now, Cry Later | Drake and Lil Durk | 532,185 | 1499 | 1492 | 7 | WAP | Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion | 522,325 | 1921 | 1905 | 16 | Dynamite | BTS | 465,120 | 2496 | 2187 | 309 | Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree | Brenda Lee (combined runs) | 428,332 | 3468 | 3172 | 296 | Jingle Bell Rock | Bobby Helms (combined runs) | 324,887 | 3691 | 3609 | 82 | positions | Ariana Grande | 278,460 | 3715 | 3659 | 56 | Go Crazy | Chris Brown and Young Thug | 273,088 | 3854 | 3774 | 80 | Holy | Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper | 261,545 | 4094 | 4050 | 44 | Lemonade | Internet Money featuring Gunna and Toliver | 235,943 | 4101 | 4058 | 43 | For The Night | Pop Smoke | 235,450 | 4525 | 4139 | 386 | A Holly Jolly Christmas | Burl Ives (combined runs) | 227,485 | 4643 | 4257 | 386 | It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year | Andy Williams (combined runs) | 217,015 | 6181 | 6057 | 124 | Dakiti | Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez | 126,905 | 6534 | 6154 | 380 | The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You) | Nat King Cole (combined runs) | 123,726 | 7372 | 6189 | 1183 | Feliz Navidad | Jose Feliciano (combined runs) | 122,830 | 7534 | 6458 | 1076 | Last Christmas | Wham! (combined runs) | 115,910 | 8959 | 7435 | 1524 | Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! | Dean Martin (combined runs) | 94,180 | 7978 | 7818 | 160 | Kings & Queens | Ava Max | 87,091 | 8390 | 8136 | 254 | Bang! | AJR | 81,022 | 9672 | 9382 | 290 | Therefore I Am | Billie Eilish | 64,277 | 10951 | 9901 | 1050 | Sleigh Ride | The Ronettes (combined runs) | 58,735 |
Of the Christmas tracks, rumor is AIWFCIY will be the only one to hang on to a high spot, perhaps top ten, as the Jan 9, 2021 chart will including streaming, sales and airplay for Dec 25.

Even though we're only 1/10th of the way through the 2020s, I think that Blinding Lights is probably gonna be the decade-end #1.

580 * Weeks charted
+ 20 * ((101 * # of weeks charted) - sum of all chart positions)
+ 20 * (( 80 * weeks charted above #80) - sum of all chart positions < 80)
+ 20 * (( 70 * weeks charted above #70) - sum of all chart positions < 70)
+ 40 * (( 60 * weeks charted above #60) - sum of all chart positions < 60)
+ 200 * ((30 * weeks charted above #30) - sum of all chart positions < 30)
+ 100 * ((20 * weeks charted above #20) - sum of all chart positions < 20)
+ 14000 * weeks in the top ten
+ 1200 * ((10 * weeks charted above #10) -sum of all chart positions < 10)
+ 400 * ((5 * weeks charted above #5) - sum of all chart positions < 5)
+ 18000 * weeks at #1
How does anybody convert this into a formula and it works for them?

OK so since we know what the decade end #1 will be for the 20s, is it too early to discuss the decade end #1 for the 30s? LOL

^AIWFCIY should be able to manage 4-6 weeks each year. Once it hits 52 weeks charted in the Hot 100, which should happen in a couple of years, it could be losing at least one week each year if it isn't in the top 25. Still, it should manage to get somewhere between 45 and 55 weeks for the decade, all in the top 50, most in the top 25.

Has anyone ever done this before? What I did was rank songs based on where they scored more points, the Billboard Hot 100, or my top 150, during the period from December 2014 to September 2019. So, the second half of the 2010s. When combining these two lists, you get one full decade of combined results. During the half chart decade, the multipliers in my chart and Billboard are the same, until August 26, 2017, when in my chart, it's a x0.9 multiplier for the rest of the half decade. If a title is in green, that means it had more points in my chart. If a title is black, it had more points in the Billboard Hot 100. - Taylor Swift - Style

Blinding Lights is now the biggest hit of the 21st century and will likely be #2 of all-time in about 2 weeks.

Week 58/521 Locked This Week: Mood I would like to point out: 100 DaBaby ft. Roddy Ricch - ROCKSTAR 101 Post Malone ft. 21 Savage - rockstar "ROCKSTAR" replaces "rockstar", and as someone who prefer the all caps one, I couldn't be happier. Post already has the phenomenal "Sunflower" and "Circles" to his name, either way. 😊

Looks like I Hope will be the next to lock for the 2020s Decade-End provided its run doesn't end too quickly.

Does WAP still have a chance for the decade end? Man, Dynamite really screwed it over 😞. At least it was a good song. . .

I'm looking at the 90s list posted on page 1. All four of Mariah's singles from her debut are in the top 100. Wow. That album/era was huge. Sony needs to get on that Diamond certification.

I think at the current chart pace, the 2020s Decade-End cutoff will require less points than 2010s.
Only 6 2020 hits had enough points thus far, and half were released in 2019 and benefitted from COVID stagnating radio. There's just not nearly as much songs passing the 2010s cutoff as there should be at this point.
I don't think any more songs that were released/hits in 2020 will be hitting the cutoff at this point either.

^Plus, since the decade-end are based on inverse points based on chart position rather than actual weekly points, the applicable multiplier for the different parts of the decade will define a lot. But, based on current trends, major hit songs seem to be charting longer and staying longer in the top 10.
