So in the over 60 year reach of the Hot 100, 2 of the biggest 20 songs are currently on the chart. Stay should climb to #3 next week. Heat Waves could go top 10?? Yes, all it needs is 7 weeks at #15, or 9 weeks at #20. Assuming a huge album bomb doesn't come along and knock it off early, it should get there and even keep climbing within the top 10. I also think that with the current multipliers, As It Was could definitely make the top 25. With an additional 10 weeks at #5, 8 weeks at #10 (for a total of 35 weeks in the T10), 6 weeks at #15, and 4 weeks at #20, it reaches #23 all-time. If anything, those are conservative estimates (I could see it having more T10 weeks and definitely more in the T20) and it also only accounts for 45 charting weeks - it could easily clear 52. If about 2 songs per year can reach the top 25 of all time, there's probably an issue.

So I'm doing a year-by-year checklist of what songs I have on MP3 in a random year order, and was on 1981 when I noticed "At This Momemt" by Billy & the Beaters spend 3 weeks on the chart. Aficionados recognize that in late 1986 this song recharted and went all the way to #1 (sort of a Running Up That Hill scenario - the song was heavily featured on a Family Ties episode where Michael J Fox's Alex character fell in love.)
But my all-time list didn't combine the runs because the credit changed to Billy Vera and the Beaters. Combining the two runs (and Whitburn confirms they are the same recording) move At This Moment from #815 to #786 on the all-time list.
Try not to let this ruin your weekend.
(PS: Michael J Fox in real life married that actress and they are still together.)

Not the kind of thing I would put here.
To be honest, I’ve been waiting to know what you guys think about where each song would’ve gone in the 2000s decade-end (that isn’t from the 2000s).
I'm also astonished that Joy To The World would be #18 on the decade-end. It was #100 on the 50th anniversary GOAT. #99 was U Got It Bad, which came in a whopping THREE POSITIONS HIGHER at #15.

Could AIWFCIY top the decade end list?

I wonder if AIWFCIY would even be allowed.
Maybe it won't, as it would top every decade-end from the 2020s onward, even though it was made in the 1990s!

Songs may now be pushed out of the Hot 100 because of Olivia Newton-John's passing.
She's the first singer of a song that came in at #1 in a decade-end to die.

Aretha Franklin didn't even rechart with one song after her death. ONJ is in a similar situation. Lots of major hit songs to divvy up on streams (5 #1 songs, 15 top tens, older demographic). I'd be shocked if anything by her charts. ETA I've created a list of how every song with ONJ on it did on the Hot 100 pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/8240553

Olivia Newton-John seemed to eat healthy too. I was aware of her eating lemon chicken.
Maybe she refused medication and relied too much on healthy foods, which was like releasing a song and that spending a lot more weeks on the chart, not in the top 10, but you try to make the decade-end. Weeks in the top 10 is important if you want a song to be in the decade-end, just like medication is important if you want to survive.
My mother died of breast cancer towards the beginning of 2019. She refused medication and relied too much on healthy foods. Her fight with cancer lasted for most of my life, but it wasn’t confirmed until about a month before her death. Doctors said she had 4-6 weeks to live, and they were right.

Did you just compare a death to how long a song spends in the top 10

Can we talk about how so many people went recurrent in 2016? It was really sad.
I don't want to go recurrent. Recurrent demon, don't take me.

Let's talk about multipliers.
What do you think of these? 1958 - x1.4 1959 - x1.6 1960 - x1.6 1961 - x1.8 1962 - x1.6 1963 - x1.8 1964 - x1.8 1965 - x2.0 1966 - x2.0 1967 - x1.8 1968 - x1.8 1969 - x1.6 1970 - x1.6 1971 - x1.6 1972 - x1.8 1973 - x1.8 1974 - x2.0 1975 - x2.0 1976 - x1.6 1977 - x1.8 1978 - x1.4 1979 - x1.4 1980 - x1.4 1981 - x1.4 1982 - x1.4 1983 - x1.4 1984 - x1.6 1985 - x1.8 1986 - x2.2 1987 - x2.2 1988 - x2.2 1989 - x2.2 1990 - x1.8 1991 - x1.8 1992 - x1.2 1993 - x1.1 1994 - x1.1 1995 - x1.1 1996 - x0.9 1997 - x1.1 1998 - x1.0 1999 - x1.1 2000 - x1.1 2001 - x1.0 2002 - x1.0 2003 - x1.1 2004 - x1.1 2005 - x1.1 2006 - x1.1 2007 - x1.0 2008 - x1.0 2009 - x1.0 2010 - x0.9 2011 - x1.0 2012 - x0.9 2013 - x1.0 2014 - x0.8 2015 - x0.9 2016 - x0.9 2017 - x1.0 2018 - x0.9 2019 - x0.7 2020 - x0.9 2021 - x0.8

I highly doubt that. It looks like 0.899999999 will be added to that.
Let's talk about even more multipliers.
Remember when I brought up that '58-'69 had a x1.7 multiplier, and did this hypothetical: what if Billboard started off with a x2.0.
I shared what the multipliers would be, but realized that 1958's multiplier was probably the most generous.
So I decided to try this again.
1958-1959 - x2.0 1960-1962 - x2.5 1963-1966 - x3.0 1967-1972 - x2.5 1973-1975 - x3.0 1976-1977 - x2.5 1978-1982 - x2.0 1983-1984 - x2.5 1985-1989 - x3.0 1990-1991 - x2.5 1992-1993 - x1.75 1994-2013 - x1.5 2014-present - x1.25
Admittedly, '86-'91 are probably supposed to have higher multipliers, but they don't because songs tend to spend a lot of weeks on the chart for a pre-SoundScan era, and the ones I ended up giving them instead were compatible as well.
The decade-end cutoff may be about a million (if you use 65k, 60k should get you pretty close). I wish I had access to all chart data that way I could find out for myself. But I don't.
With the chart data, I could even be the Smogon of music charts!
And you guys must be wondering when you're gonna see a x1.0, and believing it will be soon.

That one point climb by Heat Waves means that song is now higher in the all-time shot than Hey Jude by the Beatles. The distant rumble you hear is the sound of millions of Boomers brains exploding.

It's been about 6 months since I last published a comprehensive all-time top 1000 so here's the update to May 14, 2022: | | | | |

Whoa!!!!! The order of Madonna hits differs from the order in the Billboard 60th anniversary top 600. Today's list appears to devalue the 1990 songs. I'll compare the new list to mine and try to figure out what the heck they changed.

The little blurb that is written to explain the GOAT methodology is similar in spirit to ones from previous similar articles but has been reworded, which makes me think it's very possible that they have switched up the formula. I've done some testing on this new ordering on Madonna songs and it doesn't seem like the change is just multipliers - there isn't a clear pattern of certain years being increased or decreased, and in some cases there are songs from the same year that go in fully opposite directions (for example, Borderline and Lucky Star both had their complete runs within 1984, but the former is up 6 spots among Madonna's songs while the latter is down 9 spots).
I think more likely is that the raw points assigned to each position has been adjusted, and specifically to decrease or even take away the big drop-off between #10 and #11 (maybe #1 and #2 too). It looks to me like the songs with the biggest position rises (Borderline, You'll See, Frozen, etc.) were those that spent several weeks just outside the top ten, while the ones with the biggest position losses (Dress You Up, Lucky Star, Don't Tell Me, etc.) were those that spent a few weeks just within the top ten. I'll keep experimenting to see if I can find anything else.

Justify My Love LinkAccording to the Wayback Machine, that top 40 they posted is the same as the one posted in the 2017 version of the article (for some odd reason, the list is repeated in the same order for 41-80: Madonna’s 40 Biggest Billboard Hits 8/16/2017
HolidayGuy mentioned in the Biggest Billboard Hits thread that a 2009 top 50 version of her biggest hits had been posted. That as well as later versions of the article were probably either lost with the Billboard website updates or overwritten with new versions of the article.
