SO GLAD Bad Romance disnt win. I hate that song so much. Rolling In The Deep is solid for sure, but i do think Someone Liks You is the better Adele song (with RITD still being very good as well)

6. Adele - Someone Like You This is still one of my go to songs for crying to when I am unable to. This, Sade's "Pearls", and Sia's "Breathe Me." Just like they do here.

Yo Lukas, you did a great job hosting this Rankdown. Despite my #1 and #2 missing Top 5 (and Mylo13 π tanking them both, oof), I already figured that this Rankdown would go down to "Bad Romance" and "Rolling In The Deep", so I'm not complaining on the outcome. Those two really are songs that completely helped define the decade.

Sorry Not Sorry Mylo13 π 's basic taste strikes again! And manages to beat my unpredictable music taste, but I ain't complaining No matter how many Meghan Trainor songs finish bottom 10, basicness does win. WTM has had two top 20 hits win, and here we have two of Pulse's favourite artists at the top~

#10: We Found Love (#85): Guess I shouldn't be surprised. #9: Uptown Funk (#74): WHAAAAA...I didn't think I ranked it THAT low. This a low key bop that I'm ashamed of tanking this hard. #8: Locked Out Of Heaven (#60): This really isn't as strong as "Grenade" or JTWYA, but this is still nice. #7: The Hills (#55): Another one where I really shouldn't be surprised. #6: Someone Like You (#52): I overranked this. This is emotional but pretty lacking. #5: Counting Stars (#16): Low key BOP which I knew would do very well in this rankdown. #4: Blank Space (#39): CS beat this in the Most Loved Songs rankdown. What happened here? Anyway another classic that I knew would do great here. #3: Somebody That I Used To Know (#93): Freaking FINALLY. This is so boring. The only redeeming quality of the song is the chorus and I didn't think it would do THIS well. #2: Bad Romance (#47): This is a classic and gold song. #1: Rolling In The Deep (#86): I don't like this song but this was the expected winner that I forgot even was in the rankdown. Thanks for hosting Lukas!

15 canβt hold us (59): I admit I under-ranked this. It was just a matter of liking other songs a bit better for a minute, but yeah it deserved better so Iβm glad itβs this high. Itβs a good, highly energetic empowerment bop, with pretty good instrumental and good vocals. 14 call me maybe (10): and this is a major pop bop that I still jam to. Sounds great, itβs catchy, fun and melodic. Iβve always liked it and I still listen to it once in awhile especially in long drives :) shouldβve made the top 10 13 hello (5): everything about it was epic; the preview, the release, the video, the song itself... itβs a timeless power ballad, 12 royals (36): I wasnβt a super fan of this song when it was released. Iβve grown to appreciate its uniqueness in tens of sound, melody and vocal arrangements. I still prefer Teams, though, and think that #12 is too high 11 airplanes (38): Hayley does a great job hereβ a real highlight! (Much better than Rihanna as hook girl) I love her different inflections and ad-libs, which elevate this song quite a bit. The rap and melody are ok, but not decade top third worthy IMO. 10 we found love (14): itβs a simple but effective song. Rih has her best vocal performance in a dance song (I associate with the type of emotional vocals Donna Summer could have in a dance song), and the instrumental chorus works effectively to show the happiness/hopelessness mix of emotions. Good to see it this high. 9 uptown funk (3): a great example of how to bring retro sounds back; excellent instrumentation that brings back to the 70s with the use of percussion, bass and horns. Bruno does a great job in terms of vocals and attitude, and the melody works great, including with the post-chorus instrumental and the last part of the song. 8 locked out of heaven (15): surprised this ended up higher than UF. Itβs also pretty good musically and vocally, with a good dosis of rock influence. Maybe too close to sounding like a Police song or some repetitive effects that ended up a bit annoying after many listens, but still a great bop. 7 the hill (37): although this isnβt the type of music I gravitate to, I appreciate the dark and interesting production. My favorite part is the bridge, which I find inspired by Kate Bush. Far from a personal top 20 candidate though, so Iβm happy that it missed the top 5 :) 6 someone like you (12): this was such a breath of fresh air at that time. A heartfelt piano ballad that put strong emotional vocals front and center, at a time when heavily produced or auto tuned music was quite popular. Vocals and melody are amazing.

5 counting stars (22): strong timeless pop song, catchy, well produced, with great melody. I wasnβt a huge fan at first, but I grew to love it and find it quite uplifting and nice to hear to keep my spirits up. Not my favorite OR song, though. Good to see it in this position. This means the entire top 4 is in my top 10. Yay! 4 blank space (9): one of Taylorβs best songs, itβs a great combination of pop and balladry, with strong melody and lyrics as well as vocals and attitude. The production is subdued but epic too. Hurray for the pen click and the Starbucks lovers 3 somebody that I used to know (7): yay!! I thought this was gonna leave earlier after seeing so many posters predicting its demise lol. I loved it since I first heard it. Another case of sub sued but effective music, that allows for the amazing vocals do shine. Gotye uses his voice perfectly going from reflective to desperate, same with Kimbra. And their harmonies are heavenly. Plus itβs good to see a duet where lyrics make sense to be sung as duet. Love this type of storytelling. Hard to believe that this can be ranked bottom 10 in THIS rankdown 2 bad romance (1): one of the best songs and most exciting releases of the last 20 years IMO, and the most interesting, adventurous, epic sounding dance pop song of the XXI century :) itβs full of hooks, has a catchy melody, unique production, and Gaga sounds raw and effectively emotional. I donβt think it sounds stale. The sound may not be in, but the song continues to feel epic now as much as it did then. Also, the release was epic. The expectation was as high as it could be, and the video delivered greatly. One of the best videos of all time. That period reminded me of the times when Madonna or Britney released their first singles of an era. Great times! 1 rolling in the deep (2): Adele dethroned Gaga as popβs biggest star, and transformed the pop charts, so itβs interesting to see her beat Gaga and dance pop here too :) I loved RITD since I first heard it -I believe during the VH1 countdown. It was great to see it slowly become a huge song. And how a couple of tv shows played a role in making it huge -although theyβre sometimes forgotten. First, American Idolβs Haley Reinhart asked the producers to be able to sing this song that had just entered the top 10 of the hot 100 βand she helped RITD reach #1 on iTunes and move from 10 to 6 in the hot 10. Then, the Glee cast helped RITD stay at the top after their great performance in the chart. A great, timeless song with some rock, pop and classic elements plus her amazing vocals. I especially love the bridge and the overall crescendo in the production. Great top 2!!!! Thanks Lukas for a great RD!

Bad Romance will forever be #2 :( But can't complain about the #1! Will be interesting to see if Adele can pull a repeat in my #1s of the Decade Rankdown - submissions still being accepted for about another week! pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/187423/rankdown-decade-openAlso, super surprised Gotye/Kimbra made it to #3?!? And shocked and confused how Counting Stars got all the way to #5. What?

Thanks for hosting LukasIt was a fun rankdown, and even if I find it slightly overrated, "Rolling In The Deep" was a deserving winner, and "Bad Romance" a deserving runner-up.
