You just have odd taste pal. California girls is a miles better pop song than That's What I Like .....yea it's so bizarre to prefer TWIL to CG, musicbox is such a black swan To be fair, "California Gurls" has more than double the number of ratings of "That's What I Like", which probably affected its average by a fair amount.

I mean, we're comparing 1,000 to 500, which thus shouldn't make THAT much of a difference. It's not like it was 2 vs. 1 or something.

Well RYM and Pulse both have their biases (although I still ranked That's What I Like more than 20 spots ahead of California Gurls).

The fact that my top 10 remains unscathed is honestly amazing and quite surprising. Hoping it keeps up this way at least until the top 25. Speaking of which, I'm glad to be back at #24 in terms of closeness, but I'm afraid I probably won't be getting any perfect rankings. 😄
And I'm actually pretty happy with that top 40, with the exception of one song in particular and a couple more that overstayed their welcome and stole Pitbull's spotlight.

Oof this set of reveals was ROUGH. But at least we kicked “Heathens” out and cleared my bottom 10 so I’ll take it.

Is blank space not popular on here? Like most songs, it can be rather divisive. I personally love it though, and I am delighted that it made the top 40. On another note, "Shake It Off" should have made it to the top 50 at least.

I would've ranked "Heathens" higher if it weren't for how badly the song burned on me, but as I love twenty one pilots, I couldn't put it much low tbh. (I'm still sad that "Stressed Out" didn't make the list; that one definitely would've been my #1.)

Now y’all knock out Cheap Thrills and That’s What I Like...I swear...
Also, the Wrecking Ball music video is one of the most iconic of the decade.

Katy Perry put Trap in the map and those are facts. True, or at least in the form of a promoted successful single (since Rihanna did experiment with some trap on her 2012 track "Loveeeeeee Song" with Future and 2013's "Pour It Up" had some trap vibes as well, but it was a minor hit). The production is definitely the best part of "Dark Horse", regardless. Pity the lyrics and the whole concept of the song don't work at all. uhhhhhhhh

Justin Bieber - Sorry: 4/10, ranked #67
Pretty damn annoying but not the most annoying Justin's ever been so there's that.
Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer - Give Me Everything: 5/10, ranked #56
The guests sound great but the beat is shite and Pitbull, while still charismatic, has quite the handful of cringeworthy lines.
Pitbull ft. Kesha - Timber: 7/10, ranked #30
Pretty much the ultimate guilty pleasure. Unlike Give Me Everything, the beat is great, only adding to it.
Katy Perry - Dark Horse: 1/10, ranked #89
Finally this is out. Katy Perry sounds like shit and her sex metaphors suck, and the song is just overall a slog.
Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera: 5/10, ranked #58
It's got a tight groove but everything else is just mediocre, especially the performances of Adam and Christina.
Drake ft. WizKid and Kyla - One Dance: 5/10, ranked #61
It has kind of a chill vibe to it and I surprisingly never really got tired of it when it was big on radio but it's still just another standard Drake song, can't give those too high marks.
Sia ft. Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills: 5/10, ranked #59
Oh boy, another perfect 5/10 song. Sean Paul is hilarious though.
Bruno Mars - That's What I Like: 6/10, ranked #43 (PERFECT)
Fuck yeah I thought I wasn't getting another. Mediocre in terms of 24K Magic-era Bruno but it's still a pretty fun time whenever it comes on. Versace On The Floor should've been this big though.
Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball: 3/10, ranked #72
Miley is just irritating on this song, and the production and lyrics can't save her.
twenty one pilots - Heathens: 8/10, ranked #28
Pretty damn good, the lyrics are a bit odd but Tyler and the production sells them.

I'm probably one of the few people here who is satisfied with this most recent set. I didn't lose a single song I really care about, and we took care of "Dark Horse" before it got too much higher. I hate "Roar", but "Dark Horse" is decidedly a worse song.

This is a pretty nice top 40. There's only one song which I really wish would be gone already.
As for That's What I Like, it just to be one of my favourite modern popular songs until it really sunk in how misguided the whole message of its lyrics are, now it's kinda meh for me.

"Give Me Everything" being out before "Timber" is disappointing, but not surprising. Other than that, though, I can't really complain about this set. "One Dance" did better than I expected, but I ranked it low due to it not being a favourite of mine. I do enjoy it very much, though. Okay I'm not doing well at all lol. Why is Eminem still in? Because "Love the Way You Lie" is one of the best hits of the past decade, regardless of how lazy Eminem's music has gotten in more recent years? What I want to know is why something as forgettable and mediocre as "thank u, next" is still in. :sip2:

So close to a perfect ranking again...just two points away... Still, HOW are we letting "California Gurls", "Love The Way You Lie", my #91 and my #79 ahead of Bruno's immaculate song? #79 pales in comparison to anything Bruno put out in terms of production, and yet nostalgia makes it seems like it was some sort of masterpiece? Also, if I lose any of my top 10 before my #91, I will riot, just saying. I'll let the "Love the Way You Lie" comment slide, since I'm relieved to know I'm not alone on "California Gurls". I really hope that gets out in the next set.

A fine chorus can only do so much, those verses are mediocre for days. And don't think I don't see your thank u, next slander! Hopefully that's a top 30 minimum~

#50: Sorry (#18): Y'all done this dirty.
#49: Give Me Everything (#9): See #50.
#48: Timber (#64): This is still a jam but shouldn't have been out after GME.
#47: Dark Horse (#29): This is still a jam.
#46: Moves Like Jagger (#84): So many people complained about this still being in I'm surprised it even went this high to begin with.
#45: One Dance (#56): This is a guilty pleasure song for me.
#44: Cheap Thrills (#75): This is overrated.
#43: That's What I Like (#53): This grew on me again.
#42: Wrecking Ball (#36): The song is beautiful but the video sucks.
#41: Heathens (#12): See #50. Still surprised THIS is in but not "Stressed Out".
Also if I'm that low in closeness again just don't tag me. I already feel like a failure.
