Don’t disregard the power of Roxanne, social media hits look to be a trend in the new decade.

-Circles could hold on to #1 for multiple weeks. Good -Here comes Dance Monkey. 2nd #1 hit of 2020 after Mariah I'm calling it -Very disappointed to see Don't Start Now stalling I think Don't Start Now will pick up a lot more eventually don't worry. Radio is still picking it up and I think once it finally does, it'll at least go Top 20. It probably will have a chart run similar to New Rules, specifically in where it makes massive gains after the Christmas Freeze.

How is No Guidance still in top ten? #34 on Spotify, #17 on AM, #11 on radio, not in top 100 on iTunes. Are people telling Alexa "play Chris Brown" or what...

I never get why y'all still do these posts, instead of simply looking at how its doing overall on metrics. As of this week: #11 Radio Songs #14 Streaming Songs Thus, not crazy it's top 10 in a time when plenty of songs high on radio struggle to even chart on streaming and the other way around. It's a rare instance of continually high charting on both radio/streaming. Sales are obsolete at this point, and don't matter towards Hot 100 when the Hot 100 #1 is selling 14k.

Regarding AMA's effect, biggest surprise for me is no appearance by Lizzo's Jerome. Her career is very clearly not lasting and the GP is almost over her

The real problem for the longevity for some of these songs is not streaming or radio, it's UGC.

The real problem for the longevity for some of these songs is not streaming or radio, it's UGC. I would say that it's the other way around. UGC are responsible for a songs popularity but solid streaming, sales and radio are responsible for long-term longevity. I don't think OTR would've gotten 19 weeks at number one if it was dependent on UGC later on during it's run. See also how quickly Harlem Shake and Black Beatles fell off once the memes stopped.

Real talk, can we nip this second music video thing in the bud? It's happened with My Type, The Git Up, Someone You Loved, Graveyard (kind of) & now Hot Girl Bummer and it's just so ridiculous. A song doesn't need two music videos. End of story. It's a cheap way to get a second wave of hype for a song and should be recognized as that.

I was surprised to see “Tusa” getting somewhat of a boost as well. My current number 1 predictions are “Good As Hell” and/or “Memories —> “All I Want For Christmas Is You” --> “Dance Monkey”. 2020 in music is looking very promising so far. I really hope “Don’t Start Now” becomes at least a moderately sized hit, because it’s a truly incredible song.

If Good as Hell hits number one, it being dethroned by Memories would be terrible. It would be like having a delicious, juicy burger only to wash it off with a plate of cold white rice. Like rice ain't terrible for you but like why?????

Like rice ain't terrible for you but like why????? That’s a surprisingly valid metaphor, especially since “Good As Hell” is one of my top favorite hit songs of the year while “Memories” is just...meh, it’s there, it’s harmless, but it’s no “Good As Hell”. Still, just the fact It might get to #1 is already an achievement in itself, regardless of what dethrones it.

Can Panic! At The Disco's "Into The Unknown" debut this week? I'd do whatever it takes to make sure Into the Unknown (both versions) not be a big hit in Billboard. It's just Let It Go 2.0.

Heartless has over 7M listens on Spotify WW, good start. For reference: Lost in the Fire got 2.6, Call Out My Name got 6.5. If it weren’t for being released on a Tuesday, IMO a number one would be pretty likely.

It’s really only similar in that it’s a big sounding song for Elsa they hoped would be the song of the movie. The melodies are completely different, as are the lyrics and theme.

I know their levels success is completely different but it's interesting that whenever people complain about Drake completely dominating the 2010s, I don't really see them including Justin Bieber in that discussion, even though he came out around the exact same time as Drake and has been around as popular as Drake this decade.

Bieber only has one legitimate non teen pop era lol. Hasn’t released an era single since 2016. Drake never goes away. I am thinking his upcoming era will be a step down from Scorpion though.

Um, so how is Heartless doing? Any early predictions?
The song has a radio deal at Pop, I'm assuming since it just had a massive debut there. Why they went with that song and not Binding Light as the pop single is anyone's guess.

Why they went with that song and not Binding Light as the pop single is anyone's guess. AFAIK it’s doing a little better than Call Out My Name. If I had to guess, I’d say Lose You To Love Me Numbers, barring a bad collapse.
