Brent Anderson doesn't have the greatest voice, but I've always enjoyed "Amy's Song". Shame to see it out so soon, though not really surprising considering how forgotten the song was. Would love to see a few more reveals where I'm not the highest ranker though...

Speaking of Christian Kane, I need to see if one of my TV stations still airs Leverage as I found the first few episodes of it kinda cute.
*gasp* ER's Goran Visnjic had a stint there too! :O

How is it not a political song? It’s literally about the football players taking a knee protesting police brutality during the national anthem which was then turned into a hot button political issue by Trump and many others. Anyways, there’s no need to go down this rabbit hole again because it serves no purpose. Suffice it to say I’d just rather listen to Neal’s 90s material over anything else he’s released since then. I * think* gardyfan was referring to "A-OK" and not "Take a Knee". Not really sure, though. No I was referring to "Take A Knee". I see where tim is coming from. i just feel like Neal is expressing his thoughts and it's more of a tribute to the military who have served us than it is political. And at his concert 2 weeks ago he was clear, at least to me, that it is not an angry song and that everyone has a right to believe in what they want to.

As I stated yesterday totally expected “The House Rules” to be out now as Pulse has an aversion to this style of country, but it was a GREAT rediscovery for me. I loved it back in 2011 but it’s a song that I lost track of over the years. Amazing melody and vocal arrangement, and the instrumentation is country/rock gold.

“Amy’s Song” was terrible tho. I don’t remember this song, but man, the dude’s voice is awful.

The guy always annoyed me on "Angel" and I never cared to hear his music till this, so The House Rules was a pleasant surprise? I don't think it deserved #122.

"The House Rules," "Amy's Song," and "A-OK" were all meh to me. Nothing really particularly strong about any of them imo.

I thought it was on Netflix? Maybe? idk i don't have Netflix; I just know it's a mainly Canadian cast and broadcast on Canadian TV This show is fantastic! I only just discovered it a couple of months ago and I immediately began binge watching the show...before I knew it I was finished with all five seasons! I'll probably rewatch the series again before moving onto the sixth and final season. Anyways, I have to agree that the idea behind "Amy's Song" is great but the production does it a disservice (same can be said for Brent's voice). This was a bit higher on my list at one point but it ended up getting pushed back after each edit. And my apologies to gardyfan as I think I misunderstood which Neal McCoy song you were referencing in the thread. I was only trying to make the point that some of the lower rankings can also likely be attributed to the opinions some have of him after he started airing his political views in music and on social media. I do think that Neal's '90s material is quite underrated here on Pulse and he was an artist that was played quite a bit around my house as my mom was a big fan. That said, I just haven't been a fan of anything he's released since the turn of the century.

The only thing interesting about this song was the fact that Frankie Ballard met his future wife on the video shoot of this song. Besides that not much else.

#119. Aaron Lewis - "Country Boy"
Total Points: 2,198 Average: 95.5 Year Released: December 7th, 2010 Mediabase Peak: #49 Billboard Peak: #50
Rankings:
Following:
"Country Boy" was released as the debut country radio single for Staind lead-singer Aaron Lewis off Stroudavarious Records in December of 2010. The single peaked at #49 on Mediabase in May of 2011. It was written entirely by Aaron Lewis. Despite not cracking the top 40 at country radio, it was certified platinum. It was also a top 30 hit at Rock radio. Knew this one would be polarizing. I came to appreciate Lewis' traditional country style as his discography in country grew but "Country Boy" is pretty cliche, although I'm not about to pretend to know that lifestyle. It was definitely one of the first country radio singles that sold super well with little airplay, which became more prevalent in the coming years.

It peaked at #44 in November. It was off their self-titled debut album --- written by Danelle Leverett (Nelly Joy), Peter Amato and Oliver Leiber.
The JaneDear Girls were a duo for Reprise/Warner Music Nashville from 2010-2012. Comprised of Susie Brown and Danelle Leverett. Their album was produced by John Rich of Big & Rich.
The only reason I didn't put this last was because it is a bit catchy. Otherwise, it's pretty atrocious if you ask me. The auto-tune is awful and it's not even full-on auto-tune -- it's this "halfway" kinda auto-tune that is off-putting, only used in certain parts of the song. I remember being blown away at the time that they thought this would do anything at radio. 11 of the 23 lists put this one in the bottom 10, with eight rankings in the bottom 5.

Still getting it wrong.
I do understand the auto-tune being a deterrent here, but the song is such a jam that I don’t care lol.

Yeah, I like Phil Vassar, but not that song. And "Merry Go Round" is the correct choice to be the first female-lead song out.

Phil Vassar is such a sleeze sometimes. LOL He's either hero or zero to me with his stuff.
JaneDear's worst single by far.

The JaneDear Girls are awful (as musicians not as people) and "Merry Go Round" is actively bad. They to this day have remained my least favorite act in country music, worse than Haley Georgia, worse than 2013-2014 insert bro country artist, and worst than modern day Keith Urban (sans "We Were). Terrible vocals, horrible writing that is just repulsive (pretty much the girl response to "Country Girl Shake It For Me"), autotune that is so blatant that it is embarrassing and said autotune does not help mask the fact that the lead singer has a terrible voice imo. More power to people who like this. But it is not for me and I am so glad country radio rejected this song so this did not become a norm/trend for women.
Oh and fyi their other 2 songs are shit too.
