She just put this new lyric video out for "Dark Bars":
I love Bluebird and have to confess I am slightly surprised it turned into a hit, but Dark Bars is my second favourite of Wildcard, and if it's the next single I am here for it

She just put this new lyric video out for "Dark Bars": Well, I take that as indication that single 3 is/will be "Dark Bars." I hope country radio takes to it, because while I LOVE it to pieces, it feels a bit too slow for their liking. BUT it could also turn into another Top 5-10 finish for her when it peaks towards the end of the year/early 2021 so I hope for the best.

“Dark Bars” is one of the best songs in her entire catalog. Here for it.

Watching the lyric video, it feels like "Dark Bars" is the kind of moody sad song that fits with the times, in the same way that "Bluebird" blew up even bigger than it might ordinarily have due to its optimistic bent. They're basically pulling from the two ends of the spectrum, both of which are equally relevant with the pandemic still a huge issue. It was never on my radar as a possible single really, but I am actually seeing a situation where it's actually pretty fitting for country radio rn.

Dark Bars is one of my favorite songs from the album but I am not sure if I like it as a follow-up single for Bluebird.
I am just so happy with how Bluebird is doing in the charts as it is such a long time since Miranda had a song perform this well on radio. It makes me nervous though on their follow up choice at it can make or break the momentum from Bluebird.

I hope Dark Bars is the next single. It would be the perfect song to release right now.

This will be a great choice of single, as well as Bluebird and It All Comes Out in The Wash. Even though we saw sooo many country singers choosing radio singles poorly these days (Morris, Aldean, Gilbert etc) she is not one of them!!

I am assuming when you are talking about Aldean you are talking about "We Back" and not "Got What I Got" right?

Glad to see her back!😊 She deserves every success. Just a shame it’s taken so long for her to get another hit... Automatic, Little Red Wagon, Tin Man, Vice & Keeper Of The Flame All deserved to be number 1.

There's no doubt that "Bluebird" will be #1 on both Mediabase and Billboard Country Airplay next week. Sony Music Nashville is going all out for this push week -- as evidence by the 220 spins and 1.0 million in audience gained on Mediabase today.
Miranda was only 2.2 million behind Sam on Billboard on Monday and even though I don't see "Hard to Forget" (or "One Margarita") losing much in the way of audience, "Bluebird" was close enough where I don't think it will matter, especially since this push looks to be big with the massive gains in Tuesday's update.

So thrilled that they're going all-out pushing this one because man, it's been waaaay too long since she was #1 all on her own! Performing "Tequila Does" recently as the only non-single during her recent live performance set and declaring it her 'favorite,' dropping a lyric video for "Dark Bars," and now a 'music video' (it's more of another lyric video tbh tho) for "How Dare You Love"... and there's a chance none of them might be the next single. Miranda is so unpredictable and I kinda love that. Will be interesting to see what follows "Bluebird."

Happy for Miranda getting a strong #1 for the first time in....7, 8 years?
I'm down for Miranda having a nice little streak of hits into early next year, then Carrie coming back with a full-blown mega-hit era. Let the A-list, mid-00s gals keep their thrones for much longer!

This song hitting the top spot is well deserved and long overdue. So well written and the fans just love it. Like everyone else, who knows what direction she’ll go in for the next single!

It will be my ultimate pleasure to add Miranda Lambert's name on the list of those artists with the most #1s next week. She will be the 138th artist to do so. In the meantime, let us remember her first chart topper, The House That Built Me back in 2010. It became her biggest hit when it topped the chart for four weeks. Ready?
BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING JUNE 12, 2010: 1. THE HOUSE THAT BUILT ME-MIRANDA LAMBERT-COLUMBIA 2. The Man I Want To Be-Chris Young-RCA 3. I Gotta Get To You-George Strait-MCA 4. Huge congrats to Miranda, this is incredibly deserved and obnoxiously overdue!
Miranda has worked so hard for women in country music, glad to see her benefit from the work too.

That post by Miranda made me teary eyed being so happy her and thinking how long ago her previous #1 was. I hope they choose the next single well and will have the momentum coming from this.

If any of her singles deserved to be her first #1 in nearly a decade it was this one. I am excited about what song will be the followup.

www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9424978/bluebird-tops-country-airplay-chartMiranda Lambert's 'Bluebird' Flies to No. 1 on Country Airplay Chart, Becoming Her First Solo Leader Since 20127/27/2020 by Jim Asker 'I'm so thankful that after all these years, I still have a spot,' she says. Miranda Lambert ascends to No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart (dated Aug. 1), as "Bluebird" takes a 3-1 flight. The song increased by 11% to 32.4 million audience impressions in the week ending July 26, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. "Bluebird" marks Lambert's sixth Country Airplay leader. She last led as featured on Jason Aldean's "Drowns the Whiskey" for two weeks starting in August 2018. Before that, she last reigned with her Keith Urban duet "We Were Us," for a week in December 2013. Until this week, Lambert last visited the Country Airplay penthouse on her own with "Over You" for a week in May 2012. "It's really great," Lambert told Billboard after hearing of her return to No. 1. "I mean, 2012 feels like a lifetime ago; two months feels like a lifetime ago right now. I feel very proud. I've been putting out singles for, like, 15 years and when radio embraces me and really believes in the song, it shows. I'm so thankful that after all these years, I still have a spot." "Bluebird," which Lambert wrote with Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby, is Lambert's 32nd Country Airplay entry, a sum that includes 13 top 10s. Her first charted title, "Me and Charlie Talking," hit No. 27 in March 2005. She first reached the top 10 with the No. 7-peaking "Gunpowder and Lead" in August 2008. She initially led with "The House That Built Me," for four frames starting in June 2010, followed by "Heart Like Mine," for a week in May 2011. "Bluebird" is the sophomore single from Wildcard, which arrived as Lambert's record-tying seventh career-opening No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart dated Nov. 16, 2019. She shares the mark for the most consecutive out-of-the-gate leaders with Carrie Underwood. Wildcard's first single "It All Comes Out in the Wash" hit No. 14 on Country Airplay last November.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/country/9424975/miranda-lambert-interview-bluebird-no-1Miranda Lambert on Soaring to No. 1 with 'Bluebird': 'I Still Got It'7/27/2020 by Melinda Newman When Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby wrote “Bluebird” a little more than 18 months ago, they had no idea the uplifting song about looking toward the light even in the darkest of times would provide a salve during a global pandemic. And Lambert certainly didn’t expect that it would become her first solo No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart since 2012’s “Over You.” “We never could have known that right now the message of hope in this song is exactly what we need to hear, me included,” Lambert tells Billboard of the Jay Joyce-produced song that tops the chart dated Aug. 1. “So I'm very thankful. I think the timing of it was definitely a part of its success.” It’s been almost 16 years since Lambert first appeared on the chart with “Me and Charlie Talking,” and by her own admission, she and radio have had “our ups and downs.” But she adds she’s overwhelmingly grateful for radio’s support during her career and that with her latest chart topper, “I'm so thankful that after all these years, I still have a spot.” Did you worry that maybe you didn't have a spot at No. 1 as a solo artist any more after your last two No. 1s were duets with Keith Urban on “We Were Us” and “Drowns The Whiskey” with Jason Aldean?I didn't worry, because I’ve built a career. A hit is not a chart position necessarily. The reason why I’ve had the long career that I’ve had is because I haven't relied on chart positions to have hits, like “Little Red Wagon,” for instance, was somewhere low on the chart [editor’s note: it peaked at No. 18 on Country Airplay] and it's one of my biggest songs, you know? But it feels nice to know that I still got it (laughs). I had resolved that if there wasn't a place for me -- after The Weight of These Wings I think is when I really started to accept it because I had a song like “Tin Man” and it didn't do anything on the charts. So I was like, “Well, maybe this is my new course. I’ll just put out what I love and believe in.” But definitely I will say that when on tour, having a hit -- like a top five -- it changes the way the crowd sings along. It changes the way that your show is. And I can always tell. That must make it even tougher to not be on the road now and not hear the audience sing “Bluebird” with you. That's one down side to right now: it's the No. 1 song and I don't get to share it with them. I miss the fans and sharing this moment with them, but when [touring] comes back, I know it'll still be there. I can't wait to hear the crowd sing along. That's one thing I'm really looking forward to. You wrote it three days after you got married to Brendan Mcloughlin. What was that session like with Luke and Natalie?I spilled the beans to the two of them that I got married because I’d kept it a secret. So that same day we were writing that song, I’m bursting at the seams: "I have to tell y'all a secret!” Luke had texted us a group text. We're always on a thread. And he sent those lines [from Charles Bukowski’s poem “The Bluebird.”] He was like, “maybe there’s something to this. It really spoke to me. Did it speak to y’all?” I said, “Absolutely.” So we went in that day knowing we were going to write “Bluebird” or figure out if we could. You know, those are some big lyrics to try to build around, and so we wanted to make sure we did a good job of that. It's always fun writing with them. Sometimes it's hard and when it gets hard is when we know we're about to get something good. When your skin starts crawling because you can't think of it and you kind of want to leave the room is when something comes. So as a writer you’ve learned to push through that discomfort?Yeah, because as soon as [we] are all talking about what kind of jobs are we going to do since we can't write songs anymore [laughs], clearly something magical comes out of someone’s mouth and then we're back on track. Or we take a rosé break. That also helps. Did you know it was special after you finished writing it?Yeah, we knew right then that it was really just a cool song, something different. You even took the title of the album, Wildcard, from a line in the song, which usually means that the song has special significance. How did that decision come about? We borrowed from some amazing writers for this song, because we had the Charles Bukowski poem and I’d gotten a wildcard tattooed on my arm in October of 2018, a wildcard up my sleeve. I got it partly because I covered a song on my second record that was an Emmylou Harris song [written by Carlene Routh and Susanna Clark] called “Easy From Now On.” One of my favorite lines is, “When the mornin’ comes and it's time for me to leave/Don’t worry about me, I got a wild card up my sleeve,” and it’s always resonated with me. I got the tattoo before we wrote “Bluebird,” obviously, to remind myself be queen of your own heart and you know you can pull something out if you need to get out of the situation. And then, when we were writing this song, it felt like it fits totally to the message. How are you going to celebrate hitting No. 1?I’m probably just going to be on my porch with Natalie and Luke and maybe my manager and a very small group and have a little porch hang and celebrate. You know, it’s a big deal.
