I actually disagree about the gender of the writters not mattering. As a woman I can usually tell if a song was written from a female perspective or not, and some of the male attempts to write woman perspectives are actually terrible. Not saying many female sognwritters don't do the same thing (see God Made Girls by Raelynn), but you can't convince male songwritters would have ever been able to write anything close to Mickey Guyton's What Are You Gonna Tell Her?
So it matters and I understand artists just need to go for the best song, but if only make artists and male perspectives are heard on the radio then songwritters are going to just write those songs (after all they have to pay the bills) and great songs will never be heard and artists like Carrie won't be able to find any songs outside of what they write themselves. And that is a shame for the Nashville songwritters community.

You read that COMPLETELY wrong. I said that if a female artist wasn’t using songs written by other women, then one could argue. Never did I say “only.” YOU took that from what I said. You said it would be an issue if a female artist did not use female writers, and also said it would not be a big deal if a male artist doesn't use female writers. Which directly translates to ONLY female artists being expected to use female writers... Edit: Oh, indulge responded while I was responding... Nope, I said there would be plenty of reason to be mad if women were not recording songs not written by other women. Like as a choice that the songs are written for them by men but without a female POV. Cause, as a man, I certainly cannot totally relate to everything a woman might have to say. THAT is what I said and meant. To insinuate otherwise is disingenuous. I actually disagree about the gender of the writters not mattering. And that is a shame for the Nashville songwritters community. Which was my basic point. I’m glad we have female writers and if their songs work for a male artist, sure. But it must work for them. But, I don’t expect a male artist to record songs written by females just for the sake of doing so. And I don’t expect the same of female artists. I was bristling at the thought that Travis Denning and other male artists need to have female perspectives on their records just for the sake of it. They don’t and shouldn’t. But we should ALSO have more women and artists on the radio.

I don't want a Female or Male to get noticed at there job because they r Female Or Male. i want somebody to be noticed because of how good they are in there respected profession. Getting back on topic, I like "After A Few Drinks" by Travis Denning. I cant wait to try out the rest of the album. I was surprised Ashley David Parker wasnt on there. I love that song.

Not a big fan of the limited Margo Price I've been exposed to, but I love that album cover! She is serving a strong Lee Ann Womack vibe with her looks on that artwork.

~ Skyline Motel, a band made up of Sarah Buxton, Kate York, Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, is releasing a new EP on March 27 called After Dark. The first song off the project is "Fields of Knowing" that you can listen to HERE. ~ Lee Ann Womack, Jason Isbell and Brett Eldredge are among the ten different artists that have contributed to the new album Music Moments, which will raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association, a health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The songs "honor the personal, emotional connection between music and the most important moments in life that we never want to lose."

That's interesting. Good move on his part, because that album is literally impossible to find since it's not on any streaming services or anything.

~ Beloved singer/songwriter Darrell Scott (Faith Hill/Dixie Chicks/Brad Paisley/Travis Tritt/Darryl Worley) will release a new album called Darrell Scott Sings the Blues of Hank Williams on April 24, 2020. "I grew up on Hank Williams - it came from my dad who idolized him - as I heard the entire catalogue of Hank from my crib and beyond, I recognized what he loved about Hank: poetic, yet totally understandable, honest, heart broken, love sick lyrics and the possibility of forgiveness from a woman, or from one's self, or from one's Creator. I listened closely" recalls Scott. "I was always struck by the blues in Hank's songs in that beautiful blend of black blues tradition and poor white boy belting, having way more in common than what oughta separate them in lyrics, in voice and in chords. I heard Hank, I heard my dad, and I heard the blues that was only a guitar grab away for me," Scott says. "It did not occur to me to play or sing it like Hank; but, I strive to be true to the spirit and throw my version of blues towards Hank songs. This recording is that."
~ Former Trick Pony lead and singer/songwriter Heidi Newfield is releasing a new album called The Barfly Sessions on June 5, 2020. The collection was co-produced by Newfield with Jim “Moose” Brown (Bob Seger/Erin Enderlin). “It’s inspiring to see an artist who’s had the kind of success she’s had be so determined to push new musical boundaries and get outside of her comfort zone,” Brown says. “Heidi and I have been friends for many years and I’ve always been a fan of her music, but I really had no clue as to the depth of her musicianship, songwriting, and general bad-assery until now. She is a deep mix of old school country, Texas twang, blues and straight-up soul, and she absolutely delivers the goods on this record.”

If so, I hope the album will be full of songs like that.
