I feel like "Bang!" will end up more like "broken" as opposed to "Trampoline" but I guess it is still increasing so we'll see. I think it says something about the sad state of "alternative" music when the only good "alternative" music to get big this year came from Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, 24kGoldn, and Fleetwood Mac (and yes I know Level of Concern topped the alt charts as well but it was a minor hit as far as mainstream charts are concerned)

Honestly, this kind of makes me think there should be a thread for should’ve been hits. Would anyone else here look at it if I were to make one? I would, I have a long list of songs that were hits worldwide that didn't become hits in the US.

Shame, it looks like "Cardigan" will miss. Real shame if it did miss, hoping it can sneak in. The irony of Taylor Swift missing 2020 YE after 13 (!) straight years of doing so is frightening.

Out of the current top 20 of the 24th of October, which songs do you predict will not make the 2021 Year End list? Circles will be gone by Christmas, and aside from that, I expect Blinding Lights, I Hope, Got What I Got, One of Them Girls, Watermelon Sugar, What’s Poppin and Dreams to all miss. Go Crazy, Before You Go, For the Night and Be Like That will all be borderline If BL is expected to be in the top 3 next week, it’s for sure making the 2021 year end. It would take until it drops out the top 5 on radio and top 20 on streaming just for it to drop out of the top 10 on the hot 100

So if there's 3 more weeks left in the chart year it looks as if the songs that would get past 172,000 (using this because it's the beginning of that big clump) are
-Wishing Well
-Rags2Riches -Be Like That -Lovin' On You (this isn't a given)
-More Than My Hometown
Regrettably Ily is gonna be there as well because this is some type of hell dimension. -Said Sum (it needs to increase in points but it seems to be on the rise)
that puts 103 songs there. There's also a few that will probably fall short.
-Lemonade thankfully will be a bit short as if it maintained its current weekly points it'd wind up at 170,966 and probably out. It might get caught between years.
-Tap In is totally done even if it maintained its weekly points it would fall short of Kinfolks -there's no way Cardigan picks up the last 3 weeks. Even if it did it would probably be a bit short.
It looks like Walk 'Em Down is gonna be #100 because I think of the 7 songs I put up there one of them won't climb far enough to make it, maybe LOY or maybe MTMH. But it could be one of those two.
The interesting scenario is if there's 4 weeks left in the chart year. In this case all of those are easily safe and Lemonade would join them. There's even the horrifying possibility that Bang would have gotten enough points to join the party by then. All this would mean that out of Bluebird, Slide, and OTW one of those would probably be pushed out (they're so close together that I'm treating those 3 as having an equal chance against each other)

^Usually in the first or second week of December. It depends on when the last tracking week falls on. Assuming they go with the 52 week Year-End, first week of December.

Week 49 - 24-10-2020Late to the party as usual, it definitely didn't slip my mind that I hadn't posted this yet. Getting closer to the end, it's a bit of a rebound week after the 21 Savage album bomb, with Mood hitting number one, which is a big win. There are still a few songs that are really close to making it, so the Year-End definitely hasn't been decided yet. Current Status (100 biggest songs so far, 173.000 points to be considered locked):Added this week:Rod Wave ft. ATR Son Son - Rags 2 Riches Juice WRLD - Wishing Well Kane Brown - Cool Again Drop-Outs this week:Thomas Rhett ft. Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin & Keith Urban - Be A Light Ingrid Andress - More Hearts Than Mine Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care Songs Locked this week:24Goldn ft. iann dior - Mood Lee Brice - One Of Them Girls Pop Smoke ft. Lil Tjay - Mood Swings H.E.R. ft. YG - Slide Songs Crossing the Cut-off this week:Rod Wave ft. ATR Son Son - Rags 2 Riches Juice WRLD - Wishing Well Kane Brown - Cool Again Currently lowest Locked song:Luke Combs ft. Eric Church - Does To Me Songs predicted to lock within 5 weeks:1 week:None 2 weeks:Rod Wave ft. ATR Son Son - Rags 2 Riches Juice WRLD - Wishing Well Kane Brown with Swae Lee & Khalid - Be Like That 3 weeks:Kane Brown - Cool Again (will probably go recurrent next week) Luke Combs - Lovin' On You surf mesa ft. Emilee - ily Crossing cutoff in 3 weeks:Saweetie - Tap In Morgan Wallen - More Than My Hometown Moneybagg Yo - Said Sum Internet Money & Gunna ft. Don Toliver & NAV - Lemonade Predicted Positions for Locked Drop-Outs:See image for all drop-outs #44: Ariana Grande & Lady Gaga - Rain On Me Forecast (Songs must have 158.000 points when adding multiple weeks of the points gained last week to their total):Usually I'm letting this one speak for itself, but I'm going to just give my personal predictions real quick: I think all songs in the "songs predicted to lock/cross the cut-off" list above save Tap In and Cool Again have a good chance of making the year-end. Said Sum is a bit dependent on continued gains, but if they all make it, then Slide will be #100.

To all of the predictors, I realize y’all were probably planning on this anyways, but could y’all do a 53 week scenario just in case Billboard decides to extend the year by a week

We're down to the final lap - only 3 charts to go for 2020!
My estimate as to where songs are based on the Oct 21, 2020 chart:
Still a little movement in the top ten, but the top 100 may almost be locked. That is, among songs not yet in the top 100 of the year, only Lemonade seems to stand a chance of getting there:
So predicted final positions:
At this point, even a song entering at #1 and staying there the next 3 weeks would not qualify for the year-end top 100.

To all of the predictors, I realize y’all were probably planning on this anyways, but could y’all do a 53 week scenario just in case Billboard decides to extend the year by a week A 53 week year would obviously be very beneficial to songs that are gonna be peaking in mid to late November. More Than My Hometown and ily would almost definitely be locks, and it would give One Beer a much better chance if it keeps rising with it's current radio momentum. Although on the flip side it'll make things dicey for older songs that are clinging onto year end list spots for dear life.

If Ariana Grande drops her album on October 30th, then the resulting album bomb would fall on the last week of the chart year, right?

About the January/December predictions: I actually edited today’s weekly update by putting Senorita in it (I forgot it while listing the weekly updates, sorry).

To all of the predictors, I realize y’all were probably planning on this anyways, but could y’all do a 53 week scenario just in case Billboard decides to extend the year by a week I could do it, but a quick check shows that... honestly not much changes, beyond the songs currently charting ending up higher on the Year-End. Lemonade and Said Sum would lock, whereas Tap In would barely pass Slide for #100 (though it likely wouldn't at the rate it's currently falling). Higher up on the charts, it would make I Hope a lock for top 10, where right now it's got to pass Say So, The Bones and Memories in three weeks.

I really hope the album bomb doesn't screw over any songs making year end pushes out of a spot on the list

Can we count on I Hope ending up on the top 10 when the year end is revealed? It needs to hold steady and it will wind up a complete coin flip with Bones for #10. If it makes big gains it will get there and maybe #9 but I don't see that happening. If it falls off in the last 3 weeks its chances decrease. But those songs are all so close that it could easily make it despite not being predicted

Considering that the last 53 week year was in 2013 IIRC, it's about time that they do another one, especially since the end of the chart year has now drifted into November.

^If you're using a computer, when you hit Reply instead of Post Quick Reply, you'll get the option to do a lot of things including bolding text. I don't know how it works on cellphones, though.

Out of the current top 20 of the 24th of October, which songs do you predict will not make the 2021 Year End list? Let me add my two cents Almost certain to make it: Mood WAP Laugh Now Cry Later Likely: Blinding Lights Dynamite ROCKSTAR I Hope Watermelon Sugar Lemonade 50/50: Savage Love Before You Go Dreams For The Night Holy Got What I Want One Of Them Girls Be Like That Unlikely: Go Crazy WHATS POPPIN Circles (If not for the fact that the Christmas songs will almost certainly kick it out, I really wouldn't have counted out a potential threepeat)

It would be 15 repeats since Holy and Dreams are not repeats from 2020, plus theres a chance Lemonade does not make the year end 2020.
