at this point i'm predicting that I Hope will end up in the top 10 of the year end list at either #9 or #10, kicking out either The Bones, Say So, or Someone You Loved (depending on what's actually the #10 right now)

Do y'all think Billboard is going to introduce new rules regarding holiday songs or are we in for another Christmas freeze?

^And this year the lyrics for the song can be even more meaningful for some.

I hate the charts too, but I get that they dont inforce any other rules, it's in fact the music most consumed during a month

I'm predicting that billboard will change the rules with Christmas songs at least regarding with the year end, because if not then we're gonna see AIWFCIY on the year end list for every single year

Circles will be gone by Christmas, and aside from that, I expect Blinding Lights, I Hope, Got What I Got, One of Them Girls, Watermelon Sugar, What’s Poppin and Dreams to all miss. Go Crazy, Before You Go, For the Night and Be Like That will all be borderline I see BL making it honestly I was gonna say, I really can't imagine "Blinding Lights" not still being in the top 25 until at least March or April 2021, lol. Especially if "Circles" managed to last as long as it did. Radio just isn't letting up on those two.

It's gonna make that Year-End list for sure.

Blinding Lights' chances of making the 2021 year end list depend on whether or not it goes recurrent due to the Christmas freeze.

^I agree. In particular, the tracking week that finishes for streaming and sales on December 24th could probably end making quite a few songs go recurrent.

Blinding Lights' chances of making the 2021 year end list depend on whether or not it goes recurrent due to the Christmas freeze. I think it's streaming and radio is gonna be stable enough to survive the Christmas Freeze (whereas Circles will go recurrent, if it hadn't already by then). Feel free to quote this if I'm wrong.

Some chart facts for this year:
- BLINDING LIGHTS is the biggest #1 of the year. - LIFE IS GOOD is the biggest song released in 2020 to date. - DON’T START NOW is the biggest song of the year to not reach #1. - ADORE YOU is the biggest song of the year to not reach Top 5. - THE BONES is the biggest song of the year to not reach Top 10, and the biggest song to not reach the Top 10 since 1998.

Now that I look back at it, 2016 was a great year for music but the charts didn't show it at all.

probably will leave after ariana’s album bomb How long do you think Circles would last without the 25/52 rule? I would say at the rate its going i guess about 70-90 weeks. What’s even crazier is how blinding lights could outlast circles and without the 25/52 rule it could probably go for 80-100 weeks

Circles has the potential to be the first song ever to repeat on the year end list while lasting through the entire second year. The list of the longest that songs have made it currently looks like this
Counting Stars: 46 How Do I Live: 45 I'm Yours: 45 Happier: 40 (out early from 52 week rule) Smooth: 40 Love Story: 39 Ho Hey: 39 Sicko Mode: 38 Closer: 37 (out early from 52 week rule) Here Without You: 37 Shake It Off: 37 Un-Break My Heart: 36 Eastside: 35 (52 week rule) Amazed: 35 (returned to the chart)
so if Circles could become the first song to get the full 52 weeks despite the 52 week rule that'd be utter insanity

For what it’s worth, Radioactive debuted in August 2012, and lasted until May 2014. With a 25/52 rule, it would’ve gotten knocked out at week 67, although it had 4 nonconsecutive weeks afterwards where it charted above the top 25, so it would be interesting to see how Billboard would enforce that

My personal headcanon is that it would have re-entered at #13 following its Grammy wins. We have seen Billboard occasionally allow songs to re-enter for award shows before like Uptown Funk in 2016 so I think it's plausible. It would also keep its week after then at #23 before being removed from the chart at 69 weeks. However there's no way to know for sure. The same principle is also why I give Rolling In The Deep credit for 55 weeks under a 52/25 system. However in both cases they'd fall off the year end hot 100 for their second year. I think the full list of songs that would have missed year ends if 25/52 were always there looks like Macarena 1997 You Were Meant For Me/Foolish Games 1998 You And Me 2006 Use Somebody 2010 Rolling In The Deep 2012 Radioactive 2014 mikerivera if you have any idea what would have taken their place in the last the 2010's years from creating the january-december ones i'd be very interested
