That is an astonishingly weak top 10. No joke, that point distribution is roughly the exact same as an average week during the pre-streaming era. Except that even then, 27k points was more typical of the #2 song, with the #1 usually averaging around 30k points.

I think 7 Summers will start getting pushed when they stop promoting More Than My Hometown, of all of the Morgan Wallen singles I heard I think this one has the most crossover appeal.

With two weeks left after this in the Billboard 2020 calendar year, things have mostly settled on the year-end chart. Here's my Oct 31, 2020 list:
Sorry, Taylor fans, but even if Cardigan stays on the charts another 2 weeks, it still doesn't look like it will reach the top 100 of the year.
Sorted by projected final placements:

The difference between 52 and 53 weeks will likely determine whether Lovin on You, ily, More Than My Hometown, Said Sum and Lemonade make the list. At their current pace, each are on track to get a spot with 53 weeks, but all of them are pretty unlikely with only 52 weeks. Tap In might also be able to sneak onto the list, although I’d say that one is unlikely to be able to pass any of the songs I just listed. Keep in mind that those songs would raise the cutoff line to ~180k, which would push Walk Em Down out of the locked cutoff zone

We haven't had one in 7 Years and the new chart year shouldn't be starting before Thanksgiving.

Speaking of that, the songs that are in strong contention to make the J-D list that aren’t currently locked on the official list are -Be Like That -Lovin on You -ily -More Than My Hometown -Lemonade -Said Sum -Bang -Holy -Midnight Sky -Kings and Queens -Tap In
That’s 11 songs, and that will leave 5 additional spots open
Songs that *could* make it (ranked in order of likeliness) -Positions -All I Want For Christmas -Rockin Around the Christmas Tree -One Beer -I Should Probably Go to Bed -Some Girls -7 Summers -Lonely -Franchise -Forever After All
Top 5 are obviously the ones that I expect to actually make it, but given that two of these songs haven’t even charted yet and two are Christmas songs, obviously anything is possible.

An astonishingly weak week. If every song near the cutoff were to repeat its points from this week they'd wind up with
ily 175737 (fuck you america!) Lovin' On You 174855 More Than My Hometown 170386 Said Sum 169967 Lemonade 169187 Tap In 165907
If these wind up being the actual points that would put Best On Earth at #100. Lovin' On You would have to hold very steady though and I'm concerned that won't happen. As well Said Sum and More Than My Hometown are on the rise and could potentially get in.

This is random but there's a Mandela Effect going on right now with Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's engagement. They just announced they were engaged but a lot of people (including me) thought they engaged or married for a while now, they must have been together for that long.

One *tiny* mistake is that Young T & Bugsey are actually a duo like Hall & Oates and count as just one

Watching Cardigan miss like this just stings for a number of reasons:
1. It’s just such a great song and it deserves it. 2. It not only ends her awesome 13-year YE streak, but also makes Folklore (probably her best album) her first album to not only not have a YE placing song, but a Top 50 placing one. 3. It came so close and could have so easily made it with like an ounce of promotion at some point. Or if radio didn’t say screw it and drop it at the last minute. 4. It could possibly have lingered long enough to slide in if it had more than 15 weeks to work with. We can thank Billboard’s wacky chart year for that. 5. We basically went through the same pain with “Lover” last year. This hurts even more because if she didn’t start the Lover album’s campaign a few months earlier than her usual schedule, that song would have been a shoe-in to make it this year. 6. It just feels wrong that a song that debuted at #1 and didn’t immediately crash could miss the YE chart, especially when it felt like more of a moment than a handful of songs that will make it. And it’s now gonna be lumped in with f**king “Trollz” as a terrible statistic. 7. I have a terrible feeling that if “Exile”, “The 1”, “The Last Great American Dynasty”, “August”, or even “Betty” were the chosen single, they probably could have made it just by being more radio friendly.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, are you ever gonna finish off ranking every song of hers? I know two albums have come out since you started, but you had already gotten to the top 20

Oh, the pure irony of the number of years Taylor is featured in the YE before unfortunately this year. Too bad, she had to join "TROLLZ" in the #1's that was not on the YE list club (Hoping she can pull through, but Ariana's album bomb won't make it happen)

Admittedly despite the very different levels of quality of Cardigan and TROLLZ, they did share a status as number one hits that were driven by sales and that did not attract strong radio, thus tanking their longevity on the chart.

Franchise is gonna be part of that statistic too and it's a decent enough song to be compared with
Also are we sure billboard isn't gonna stretch it out to 53 this year? They obviously should have done it last year but it wouldn't be an altogether surprising move for them to pull

I think a 53 week year is definitely possible, especially since they eventually have to do one or else the chart year will move even earlier.

I guess "Cardigan"'s sound doesn't particular fit well in the pop area, likely if she released more-pop friendly one, it could've got in.

What were the projected positions for Sign of the Times? I feel that cardigan has a very similar run to it

Sign of the Times was projected at #83 with 210k points. Which was actually too high, but also reflected that during its debut week, the charts were arguably at the strongest they had ever been. But more importantly, Sign of the Times charted in the top 30 for 10 weeks before just collapsing. Cardigan mostly hovered in the 40-60 range

It's crazy how clumped together almost the entire bottom half are on the year end list. Like the 100 cutoff itself isn't that insane compared to the bottom 3 of last year's list all of which were audacious displays of chart absurdism that seemed to be daring you to ask how they made it compared to Walk Em Down's innocuous 38-peak run.
But like the stuff that's in the 60-80 portion is insanely weak like most of the time a song like You Should Be Sad would barely even make it much less comfortably at like 80

Why does the 2020 YE list end on Nov 14 week and not Nov 28 week?

I know two albums have come out since you started, but you had already gotten to the top 20 Lol I knew someone would call me out for that eventually. I’ve actually just started working on it again after neglecting it all summer. I’m gonna finish all of the writeups before I post them again so that the next time I revive the thread I can actually finish it. And Lover and Folklore will each get a seperate post for their songs, which I’ll slide in to the final “updated” list.

Why does the 2020 YE list end on Nov 14 week and not Nov 28 week? For a while, the displayed date of the charts was like two weeks ahead of the actual publishing date, so Billboard changed the date in... 2018, I think(?) to be closer to the actual date. However, this caused the year to end earlier than usual. They haven't fixed this yet, preferring to use 52 weeks instead of "end of november", apparently. On that note: Week 50 - 31/10/2020Two more weeks to go. This one's pretty quiet as things return to normal after the 21 Savage bomb and subsequent recovery week. However, since the possibility of a 53-week year exists, I'll be adding the songs that might lock or cross the cutoff in 3 weeks as well. Current Status (100 biggest songs so far, 173.000 points to be considered locked):Added this week:Kane Brown with Swae Lee & Khalid - Be Like That Drop-Outs this week:Kane Brown - Cool Again Songs Locked this week:None Songs Crossing the Cut-off this week:Kane Brown with Swae Lee & Khalid - Be Like That Currently lowest Locked song:Luke Combs ft. Eric Church - Does To Me Songs predicted to lock within 3 weeks:1 week:Rod Wave ft. ATR Son Son - Rags 2 Riches Juice WRLD - Wishing Well Kane Brown with Swae Lee & Khalid - Be Like That 2 weeks:surf mesa ft. Emilee - ily 3 weeks (53-week year):Luke Combs - Lovin' On You Morgan Wallen - More Than My Hometown Moneybagg Yo - Said Sum Internet Money & Gunna ft. Don Toliver & NAV - Lemonade Crossing cutoff in 2 weeks:Luke Combs - Lovin' On You Morgan Wallen - More Than My Hometown Moneybagg Yo - Said Sum Taylor Swift - cardigan Saweetie - Tap In Internet Money & Gunna ft. Don Toliver & NAV - Lemonade Crossing cutoff in 3 weeks (53-week year):Megan Thee Stallion - Girls In The Hood HARDY ft. Lauren Alaina & Devin Dawson - One Beer AJR - Bang! Predicted Positions for Locked Drop-Outs:See image for all drop-outs #54: JP Saxe ft. Julia Michaels - If The World Was Ending #107: Kane Brown - Cool Again Entry Changes in 53-Week Year:Internet Money & Gunna ft. Don Toliver & NAV - Lemonade (#96) replaces NLE Choppa ft. Roddy Ricch - Walk Em Down Forecast (Songs must have 158.000 points when adding multiple weeks of the points gained last week to their total):

lol @ Lil Uzi Vert with 38 songs and none on the year end list
Also for the hot 100 artists chart how do the points for Whats Poppin & Savage work is it treated as if the featured artists were there the whole time? Or just starting when they were credited. Beyond that I think you misplaced Andy Williams he should be at like 160,000 because he had both It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year and Happy Holidays (The Holiday Song)
