From my predictions, Lemonade (predicted #86) is the highest song that missed the actual year-end, since Crooked Smile (predicted #86, 2013). FYI: The lowest song that made it to the actual year-end, is Hello (predicted #196, made it in #35, 2015). That's the difference between inverse points and chart points, I guess.

Missed opportunity to have "I Hope" end up at #11 instead of #12 so that it would pair up with last year's #11 which also has "Hope" in its name, which is P!ATD's "High Hopes". The idea of both songs hoping at ending at the Top 10 yet they didn't is crazy.

Just as an illustration of how busted covid made this chart year. Not complaining tbh it's just interesting. The first column is Everything I Wanted's weeks from highest to lowest and the second is Roses.
Everything I Wanted beat Roses...

When I saw the early 2020 songs were lower than expected ("Slide", "Pu$$y Fairy"), I was worried for a moment that "Even Though I'm Leaving" somehow missed it, but thankfully, that wasn't the case.

Do you think Circles would've topped the year end if it went to 1 the weeks AIWFCIY did?

Do you think Circles would've topped the year end if it went to 1 the weeks AIWFCIY did? Would this be if it had more points than AIWFCIY or if the Christmas songs werenโt charting at all? Because either way, I think BL would still be the YE #1.

Even Though im leaving ended a lot higher than expected a lot of songs that had all their weeks within the first few months or so of the chart year (Hot, Panini, AIWFCIY, Bandit) did as well, I'm betting it's that the Christmas effect on chart points was a lot greater than anyone really predicted it to be

I think a similar thing will play out in the 2021 chart year if COVID ends at some point, giving songs from later in the chart year an edge.

I think the gradual removal of UGC throughout the year and the "downweighting" of radio around the end of May also played a heavy part in this. Both of these resulted in more points for songs during the first half of the year, especially hits driven by either of those factors.

Both of these resulted in more points for songs during the first half of the year, especially hits driven by either of those factors. What does UGC stand for? User-Generated Content. Basically short clips of the song on YouTube (usually TikTok or meme compilations) or fan-made/third-party videos containing the entire song. Bad Guy was a prime example of a song driven heavily by UGC, which might explain why it ended up in the top half of the YE unlike what most people predicted.

The fact it still managed 10 weeks in the top 10 is impressive.

Not-so fun fact: "Blinding Lights" is the first Year-End #1 since Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" to not be nominated for any Grammys. Everything between those was nominated for either Record or Song of the Year, except "Happy" and "Shape Of You", which only got (and won) Best Pop Solo. It's also the first Year-End #1 since Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" in a year ending in 0.

When was the last time that a number one song didnโt make it in the year end chart? We have a couple of songs this year.

I've been thinking about this:
Will Post Malone change his direction in the next album? Circles was a pop-rock hit and it had huge longevity in the charts. Will that convince him to minimize hip-hop influences in his music and make a pop rock album? His next music will determine where his direction is heading as an artist, it will either be his magnum opus or a failed experiment.
