"House Lannister 99"  didn't include waffle bc screw him lol Appreciated. Every element of Bad Guy is designed to out-annoy the previous one, duh. Whether she's gargling lyrics, singing underwater or mumbling, the fact this won best song at the Grammys baffles me, duh. It doesn't help that the song switches from slow tempo to fast and then to really slow, duh. The instrumentation reminds me of a third rate Gold by Kiiara, duh. And those lyrics, duh. The part where she talks about seducing your dad had to be a reference to The Crush, duh. And why she keeps referring to herself as guy is so annoying, duh. I'd say I don't understand pop music now, but thanks to Don't Start Now and Blinding Lights, this might have been a hiccup, duh. |

SICKO MODE is the most overhyped song ever, I like it fine enough but there's so many better popular trap rap songs and at least half of the songs on ASTROWORLD are better than it
anyway I may have been singlehandedly responsible for its loss to Bad Guy seeing as i ranked it only barely within the top 40 and i was one of the last few people to send their lists in so i'm guessing i was the one that ended the progression of it at #1 that had lasted for almost the entire thing

Don't get me wrong, I love Sunflower but I also hate every lyric in it and if I was ranking these songs based on how much I least wanted them to win, I'd put it dead last.
But in case it wasn't clear from the Baby Shark #1, this was partially a joke list. I have come to terms with the fact that I love Baby Shark and I'll cope with that however I can~

Still, it really didn't deserve any bottom 10 rankings, let alone a #100. 🤨 "breathin" losing was unexpected, especially over the two lowest rankings I had left. I find "bad guy" to be overrated, but hey, it was a game-changing song and it gave Billie her first massive hit, so I'm glad it won regardless. Thanks for hosting, Lucifer Morningstar . It was very entertaining. My top 10:
1. breathin (#3) - exact same reasons as fearlessarrow . Listening to it is just so therapeutic, and it's simply a fantastic song with an excellent and raw performance from Ariana 2. Beautiful People (#52) 3. Dancing With A Stranger (#14) 4. Sunflower (#4) 5. Truth Hurts (#10) 6. God's Country (#37) 7. Tequila (#36) - I might have overranked this one a bit. It's still a great country tune regardless 8. Old Town Road (#7) - just one spot away from a perfect ranking 😢 I'm insanely happy it made it to the top 10, though. This song represents 2019 in music like no other. 9. Sweet But Psycho (#11) - I admit the song grew less on me over time, especially as I discovered some of the hidden gems from Ava's discography. Still great, though, but I'd probably rank it outside the top 10 if I were to re-do this list 10. Hey Look Ma, I Made It (#69) - sorry Mark from Spectrum Pulse, but I utterly adore this song, and do prefer it over "High Hopes" (at least when it comes to the studio version). I think the artificial aspect of the production works to convey the idea of living through fame and success while coping with its hardships behind the curtains, and the song just works for me. I'm not sure I'd put it in the top 10 if I were to re-do the list under further scrutiny (and I mainly put it here in hopes it would boost its position), but it would definitely be a honorable mention for me. |
