Guess I should have included "My Honest Face" in "Indie" III after all.

#20. Sputnik Sweetheart - Growing Pains This song was really good. Very melodic. The guitars really compliment her vocals. Especially in the bridge. The guitar cranks go great with her range. Probably wouldn't see the light on Alternative chart, but I would like music like this on AAA.
#19. Chance デラソウル - Summer Holy disco balls I heard the wrong F U C King song. How funny is that? I could have never sat through the whole 23 minutes of it anyway. The one I heard had a similar cool breeze disco beat anyway so #28 is about right. This is what I heard. That "Summer" title through youtube off. At least its the same musicians.
Chance デラソウル Summer Breeze
#18. Mopac - Cross-Eyed Dreaming Pretty cool song right. It appeared on my right hand side as I was watching another video on Youtube, and I though PULSE will like this one like the Bleached song I submitted. I like the vocals of course, but the synths add a nice little 80's flair that goes terrific with that bass.
#17. Guerilla Toss - Plants Everyone heard something different in this song. I heard ,and actually found my self singing "Everybody Wants You" from Billy Squier. One of my favorite guitar hooks ever. Since that is basically the song's hook it was gonna ended up high on my list.
#16. TR/ST - Unbleached Obviously a few of us still get floored when they listen to some 80's underground New Wave sounding discovery. Wow that synth was obviously inspired by Space Synth Italo Disco. Koto would be proud.
#15. Nothing But Thieves - Is Everybody Going Crazy? Aside for the guitar this was just ok. Good melodic rock that I probably would grow into if it would get some actual chart action.
#14. Mannequin Pussy - Drunk II This was actually the first song I grabbed to preview. I was expecting some more WTF its female Devo WOOZE sounding song. Unfortunately I Didn't get that, but this was a great female rock jam. Had a bit of a Glam Rock look and sound. Very catchy.
#13. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - Angel Wings I thought I had gotten the band confused with some other band. But no they are in fact the band that perform "Vampires" Lullaby" and "Kitty Sucker'. Except this one didn't sound anything like those. I realized I didn't like his vocals with slow music.
#12. Squid - The Cleaner I wanted to like this one. Loved the "Low Rider" intro and Psychedelic vibes, but it was the vocals that made me take a u turn. Not what I was expecting and didn't work for me.
#11. Soft Kill - Tin Foil Drip This had a bit of that Retrowave vibe. The softer vocals worked well for this song, because they don't overcome the bass which was basically what pushed this song onward on my list. Soothing and Pleasant indie vibe. Some one should tell Mike Kaplan that this is what we really want on our Alt format.

20: Sputnik Sweetheart- This was pretty good though I feel I should've liked it a little more. Seems pretty up my alley, nice song, just not very memorable. Would rather have ranked My Sputnik Sweetheart by Weatherday, but this was still nice.
19: Summer- This was a very nice first listen, very pleasant and breezy, good song to have in my regular rotation.
18: Cross Eyed Dreaming- This was another one I thought was pleasant and likable, just didn't stand out much at all
17: Plants- I've never been too huge on Guerrilla Toss, I think they're kind of annoying generally, but this is the one song by them I do love
16: Unbleached- This one was very cool. I don't like it enough to add it to the chart playlist, but still cool. I think I've heard other songs by this act I like more, but this is still good.
15: Is Everybody Going Crazy- Hmmm I put this in my top 10? I think that's a bit high, probably just artist bias on my part, which I don't usually do. This is definitely one of NBT's weaker singles.
14: Drunk II- This one ended up growing on me a lot. I charted Who You Are by this band briefly, but I think this one even more. The guitars are great and I love how it builds.
13: Angel Wings- I mean I'm always here for Frank Carter, this is a good song. More in the middle of the road in terms of Frank Carter songs, but still solid.
12: The Cleaner- This was super cool actually. This mind of borders on being the kind of overly annoying brand of post-punk I'm not so into, but it works. I love the like phases, really cool song
11: Tin Foil Drip- Very pretty song, though I do think it goes on a bit too long. I like it mainly for the aesthetic but it gets a little tired after awhile

#10 The Strokes - At the Door
Chosen By: Red Points: 484 SD: 9.693188058
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: My relationship with The Strokes is decidedly different than most of you. I started out mildly disliking them, wondering why they were getting all of the critical acclaim. It took me a little bit before I got into them, and, even then, I always seemed to keep Julian, Albert and the gang at arms distance. In fact, I liked Julian Casablancas' efforts away from his main band more than the main band itself. It's not like they haven't made songs that I really like before. "Machu Picchu" was in a Journey, after all. But "At the Door" is just something else altogether. I knew that *Julian* was capable of making a song that is different like this one (see: The Voidz), but I wasn't sure about the rest of the band. I am so glad to be proven wrong, because this is the kind of adventurous material that I have always wanted from them. shazam: i'll be honest, i feel like i haven't been as big on this era of The Strokes as the rest of you. everything is definitely good, but not much has been wowing me. this is definitely a cool track from Julian and co. though, i really like the retro synthpop sound

#9 U.S. Girls - 4 American Dollars
Chosen By: Daryl the Beryl Points: 493 SD: 11.32893361 (10TH HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: Meghan Remy really wasn't away for long, but it feels like she was gone for far too long somehow. I don't think any song I'll hear from her will ever top "Pearly Gates", but "4 American Dollars" works similarly, in that it's surprisingly groovy and precise. I dig the groove on "Pearly Gates" more, but "4 American Dollars" makes my foot tap every time I listen to it, so it must be doing something right. shazam: this is another one where i feel like i don't completely get the track like the rest of you. it's catchy and trippy for sure, but sometimes the vocals can just be a tad irritating. maybe i just need to be in the right mindset to get it

#8 Bat for Lashes - The Hunger
Chosen By: rowellfarm490 Points: 511 SD: 8.369587803 (4TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: As someone who's only really familiar with "Daniel" when it comes to Bat for Lashes...this is slightly different than I was expecting, certainly more brooding than expected. I like it, though! It's not that much of a radical departure from "Daniel" that it feels too out of place. It feels more like a darker progression. shazam: dark synthpop is almost always a plus for me, and that was the case here. a nice addition to our top 10 for sure!

Ok, catching up on last night's reveals... glad and surprised Soft Kill almost made it to the top 10! I thought it'd go out in the 20-25 range and that its length would tune some people off. They have a fantastic repertoire so if you liked "Tin Foil Drip" check them out.
As for tonight so far... Bat For Lashes have been a great discovery for me this year. "The Hunger" was no exception, fantastic track.

#7 BAMBARA - Serafina
Chosen By: @humanshazam Points: 520 SD: 9.330199975 (9TH LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: For me, this might wind up being this event's version of Hotel Lux. "The Last Hangman" was a song I ranked too low when it showed up in the first RMD event, and I regretted it almost immediately. I wound up ranking "Serafina" higher, but the regret feels like it's already there. Unlike with "The Last Hangman", we will be ranking "Serafina" again, so...we'll see how much my opinion has changed in the final. shazam: i'm pretty shocked this finished top 10, but i'm really glad since i picked it! the modern post-punk scene has been killer, and this track is no exception. i love how vivid the storytelling here is, and the instrumentation is fuzzy but discernible enough to kick ass. the singer also has a great voice for this type of music

#6 Inhaler - My Honest Face
Chosen By: wheatsquares33 Points: 548 SD: 7.051688861 (2ND LOWEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I didn't really know what to do with this song. I know that I like it, but I don't really know how much. It seems like a perfectly cromulent indie rock song. That makes it seem like I should have ranked it bottom ten, but, again, I liked it! A lot! So I don't really know what to think. Ugh...come back to me in the final. shazam: this one was really cool! it partially reminded me of 2000s indie rock while adding in some nice post-punk flavoring. definitely one i need to revisit more

#5 Caroline Polachek - So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings
Chosen By: BlurryKyle Points: 552 SD: 12.13693796 (7TH HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: I don't know how she would have pulled it off, but, really, this should have been a massive hit. It has all of the hallmarks of a big hit in today's market: Super bright, 80's throwback, supremely catchy...and yet, outside of critic circles (and Pulse, I guess), it feels like it has been a little ignored. It's a shame, because this is the closest any artist has come to making a pitch perfect pure pop song since "Run Away with Me". shazam: i'm sure Lord is happy now :kii: SHYHMF is one of my favorite tracks of the past year, so no surprise it's high on my list. the lyrics are yearning but playful enough to create a passionate dancefloor anthem, love this track

Sorry I don't rank songs high because of 'indie cred'. This song is terrible. Bland beat, completely annoying, awful vocal effects and DEAR GOD THAT BRIDGE IS ONE OF THE WORST BRIDGES I'VE EVER HEARD. It sounds like she's hosting a fucking robot orgy in her esophagus. This is disappointing and unacceptable that this escaped bottom five in any RD that isn't a rankdown of musical abominations.

#4 black midi - 953
Chosen By: lyhom Points: 554 SD: 12.71178483 (5TH HIGHEST)
Thoughts from the Hosts Red: This is "Sunglasses" for those who think that nine minutes is a little too long and that it's not insane enough. The energy that this song has is palpable, especially when it reaches the last couple of minutes. I love me a good climax in a song, and "953" has one of the best of the last decade. It is pure uncontrollable, unbridled energy, much like what came before it. As much as I liked Schlagenheim, every other song on that album is in the massive shadow of "953". It took a lot for me to rank a song above both of my picks here, but "953" is exactly the kind of song that is capable of pulling it off. shazam: hooooooooly cow i did NOT think this would be top 10, let alone top 5. at this point, i think Schlagenheim is my AOTY for 2019, and this is one of the best tracks off that record. it's frantic, busy, wacky, and it still manages to rock super hard. the "breakdown" with the gradually slowing down riff blows me away every time
