Seems like The box will be the next no. 1 after AIWFC / Circles. It is no.1 in AM and possible be back at no. 1 on Spotify and its already no.3 in Shazam.

I think Mariah would need to work with a male artist to have a hit. I feel like female duets have initial hype and die quickly. It would also need to feel organic and make sense not like she was tacked on to the track. I could see something with Drake, Post Malone, or Bruno Mars working as they have very catchy songs and in the case of Post and Bruno strong melodic instincts which especially is Mariah’s forte.

Yeah, the annual "AIWFCIY" resurgence and re-peak had more to do with the popularity of the song itself within the holiday frame and little (if anything really) to due with a "comeback" or "return to form" in reference to Mariah's commercial prowess/viability as an artist. As a result, I don't see said success having any real impact on the interest of her next non-holiday release, but that's ok, as she doesn't really have anything to prove at this point in her career (obviously). The only way I could see her securing another #1 is through a direct feature or writing credit via a more popular artist. I really can't picture her accomplishing it solo.
On a personal note, I am still bitter "#Beautiful" wasn't her 19th and "AIWFCIY" her 20th tbh. That song was everything.

The Box just edged All I Want for Christmas is You for #1 in the weekly US Spotify chart. Circles remained #1 in the lastest Pandora chart.

Mariah Carey will be the first artist to be #1 in 4 decades and Maroon 5 will be the first artist to have top 10 hits in 3 decades since the 2000s.

US Spotify, week ending 12/26/19
1 The Box by Roddy Ricch 10,092,329 2 All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey 9,806,687 3 ROXANNE by Arizona Zervas 9,691,192 4 Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee 8,624,106 5 Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms 8,361,420 6 Futsal Shuffle 2020 by Lil Uzi Vert 7,959,941 7 Circles by Post Malone 7,519,188 8 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams 7,373,863 9 Falling by Trevor Daniel 7,180,944 10 Bandit (with YoungBoy Never Broke Again) by Juice WRLD 7,070,611
FS2020 decreased 40% compared to previous week, pretty large amount for new single. Album tracks usually drop that much but regular singles should have smaller decreases week-on-week with playlisting and everything.

If Yummy doesn't smash right out of the gate (or fails to have longevity), then The Box being #1 in the next few weeks seems inevitable. It just needs a music video and a radio push to solidify it.

For Yummy, something like 15M streams on Spotify should be enough for #1 with decent sales and some radio push. It can definitely do it, but it's not given of course: The best week of Heartless for instance is 11.2M which was enough for #1 in the end but still a bit underwhelming.

Yummy seems like an easy lock to debut at #1. And I think it’ll have longevity

I think the Amazon Music effect this week might actually be insane.... Rolling Stones chart for the week (which only includes sales + audio streams) has only 1 non-Holiday song in the top 25. www.rollingstone.com/charts/songs/Even Jonas Brother's Xmas song somehow got 18.5m audio streams, and Katy's Xmas song from last year apparently got 15.4m.

Also this is a little off-topic since its about albums, however HDD/Billboard don't publish mid-week album projections the last week of the year so nowhere else to post. Rolling Stones has Mariah's Xmas album projected #1: www.rollingstone.com/charts/albums/If it actually did go #1 on Billboard 200, it'd become her 7th #1 album.

^^ 4 songs potentially over 40m on-demand streams is insane. I think the only time that ever happened was in the Scorpion release week. The chart this week gonna be more of a mess than I thought

Nat King Cole's most classic track at No. 100? Really, Rolling Stone?

Judging by Rolling Stone's numbers, I again underrestimated streaming for Christmas songs lmao. I had Mariah at 81.7M streams, but that number could be closer to 90-95m

Nat King Cole's most classic track at No. 100? Really, Rolling Stone? I did a quick glance and there’s 2nd version On chart. Doesn’t appear they merged.

OTR had a great run even if it is gone next week who would've thought OTR would be #1 for #19 weeks despite the controversy around it.

seems like OTR will be gone sadly I'd say about 50-50 chance really. I hope it survives though because if it does it will alnost certainly hit 52 weeks, unless some crszy album bomb stips it
