More MLB soundtracks! I've honestly never really been a big fan of My Chemical Romance, as I've always found them to be super overrated, but I've always loved this song. Really good vocal from Gerard here. My condolences to American Idiot and wheatsquares33.

I was so hyped when they announced their comeback. They had released just one album before breaking up, and I loved Phantoms. Honestly, if they had not broken up, I feel like they would have been even higher on my all-time list. They're a really solid band, and I wish that Rise Records did something with this album on radio because I felt like it had some hits for Alternative.

The production on this is so damn crisp. The instrumentation on this one blew me away, especially for being a pretty indie pop song. Bombay Bicycle Club is a band that I haven't really gotten too into outside of a few tracks. I feel like they have some really good ideas, but they don't always sit with me. This is one where they knocked it out of the park.

This song was actually my introduction to Cold War Kids. I think their name kinda popped out to me, so I thought I would give this a try since it was their current single, and I really loved it on first listen. Ended up checking out Hold My Home, and the rest is history. It kind of sucks how bad this one flopped considering "First" became a monster hit the single after, and they've rehashed this song like three times now to good radio success. If only they resent this after "First" finished its torrid run.

This was my favorite song off of Watch the Throne. Just a real good track. I love the sample, and this is some of Jay and Ye's best verses on the album. I always thought this one was super underrated.

"Otis"'s beat annoys the hell out of me. "Try A Little Tenderness" is an all-timer, but its strengths are the momentum of the songwriting and Redding's loud impassioned performance, so looping it out of context and trying to make another voice the focus feels like destroying the point of it.

{HOLY CRAP, YOU ACTUALLY STARTED REVEALING...WORD WALL}#50: It's been so long since I listened to the songs for this rankdown that I've forgotten how a good chunk of them sound like. I remember this being the weakest song in a pretty strong group of songs. Maybe I should relisten to these songs. #49: I wish I enjoyed the songs on Native the same way that I do "Counting Stars" or, to a bit of a lesser extent, "Love Runs Out". This is not one of the worst songs on the record, though. #48: Hey, look, a personal where I liked a song in the bottom ten and didn't like putting it there. This has never happened before. #47: I think I've come to the conclusion that I just kind of feel apathy toward Mat Kearney. I don't dislike him whatsoever, but I just can't get into his work, really. #46: I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I regret ranking the song by the act with a guy wearing a giant duck mask in my bottom ten. #45: I mean, I said that my #43 was a song that I liked and didn't want to put bottom ten, if that helps you with my #42. I remember this being nice, but it might be a song where I need to give it multiple listens to really appreciate it. Country has a habit of doing that with me. #44: Out of every song in the bottom ten, this might actually be the one that I wanted to like the most. Just never got there. #43: Wait, Hailee Steinfeld was in the video for this song? That's actually more interesting than the song itself. #42: My first non-bottom ten ranking revealed is Maroon 5, because of course it is. Maroon 5's more recent years have done irreparable damage to their reputation, and I think that it's affecting how people view their better songs from this era negatively, even if I didn't rank this particularly high. #41: I thought this was boring. shrug#40: anti-country biaaaaaassssss Seriously, though, given her recent track record, I'm not sure if Cam is going to ever come close to reaching the heights of "Diane" or this going forward. That would be a shame. #39: Really, more than anything else, this is proof that the Peas never really lost the ability from their early days. They just pushed it aside for a while to achieve commercial fame. Once that fame ran out, it came back. Not a coincidence. It also would have been very, VERY hard to screw this song up, given the talent involved. #38: Oh, I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this more. I've still heard worse from The Used in the last decade, to be sure. #37: I'm actually excited to see how "A Taste of Silver" does in Indie III. I could see it being very divisive. #36: "He had some songs on this album that were better than anything than his work with Lady Antebellum" I've liked everything I've heard from Charles' solo career, including this. He's never topping "Need You Now". That was a once in a lifetime song. #35: Two perfectos in three reveals, it must be my birthday. checks date Narrator: It was not Red's birthday. #34: If I've already said that I liked my #43 and my #42...I mean, you probably know what's going to happen here. It's always nice to clear your bottom ten on your highest ranked bottom ten. #33: If I've already I said that I liked my #43 and my #42 and my #41... #32: TO THE WINDOWWWWWWSSSS...TO THE ONE OFFS #31: I doubt it will make you feel better, but this is how I feel when Rammstein gets shafted (almost) all of the time, so I can relate a bit. "Better hope I come back this time because I don't like when you guys eliminate SafetySuit early." 24 hours later#30: Just a really nice little song from a band that specializes in really nice little songs. #29: I guess the perfectos earlier softened the one off blows that followed. #28: FWIW, I actually expected to rank this higher coming in. This is the Walk the Moon that I still really like, not the abomination that would follow. (I was about to abbreviate it, until I considered the possibility that someone could think I was saying that "Wintertime Madness was an abomination" out of context. :kii: ) #27: I don't think this is underrated, to be honest, at least not outside of Pulse. Everywhere I've seen people talk about this album, this song is brought up as a highlight, and deservedly so. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think that I would have just ranked any Chevelle song top ten here, let alone top five, but "Still Running" would have made my top five in just about any rankdown I can think of. In fact, I'm almost shocked that I didn't rank it higher. #26: I won't lie to you, this being ahead of "Still Running" bothers me more than it should. #25: Is it a bit much to say that this was tanked because of the artist? I will say that it being in the top 20 for most of the rankdown (and even top ten briefly) is better than I was expecting, though. #24: I really should listen to more songs by Acceptance. I tend to like what I hear more often than not. #23: My thoughts on this song haven't really changed from RMD. Where I ranked it changed, but it's also going up against slightly less tough competition. #22: insert Nick Swanson throwing computer into the trash here It would help if I had a bottom 20 remaining that I could point to and say "why did this beat out one of my favorite Cold War Kids songs" right about now. (Hell, I'm almost clear of my bottom half entirely.) #21: Despite where I ranked it, I'm...kind of glad this isn't much higher? Compared to what they're capable of together, "Otis" just isn't one of my favorite songs from the Throne project. I like it more than gates does, but I think he explained my issues with the song better than I could. "I'll see you again tomorrow!" checks date

This album hit me like a truck in 2018. The first four tracks were put out as an EP before Offerings came out, and I was absolutely in love with it. The album didn't quite live up to the EP, but the album was still really solid, and it ended up being my second favorite album of the year behind Lord Huron's Vide Noir. This was one of my favorites from 2018. I love the songwriting and story behind it.

Honest Men is a band I came across on NoiseTrade, and they were nobodies at the time, and I really liked what I heard from them. I mean, they're still nobodies, but they have a bit of a bigger following. I've been using them in a lot of tournaments and personal rankdowns, so look at me helping out! "Mad Love" is probably my favorite from them. Just really catchy indie pop.

I feel like this song shows the growth that Donald Glover has had as a musician. I've always loved this one, even though I know sometimes Camp isn't as widely regarded as his later albums. I had the clean version / radio edit to this song for the longest time because All Access had sent me the download to it when it was sent to radio, and I didn't even hear the explicit version till 2018, lmao. I've always had a slight gripe with how much success this saw because it took Donald out of Community when he saw he had big potential as a rapper, lol. Troy was my favorite character on that show. It just goes to show how amazingly versatile he is.

I absolutely love the storytelling on this one. This is one of J. Cole's best abilities, and it is showcased so well here. I feel like I haven't liked much of anything from J. Cole after this album, which is such a shame because he was shaping up to be one of my favorite rappers. It's just now his stuff feels super boring to me.
