Yummy may be the worst song Iβve heard all year, including last year, including Macarena by Tyga. With this two songs gaining traction, Iβm kind of worried for this year, but at least Sugar seems to be rising due to the lack of competition so I guess thatβs good
Also if Say So actually does what Juice couldnβt, this would be a great year despite Yummy and Macarena

Yummy is basic, mediocre and a surprising choice for a lead single after a 6-year hiatus, but it's an easy listen. I left it on repeat and didn't realize it has played back several times. It should do well on radio and streaming. I also appreciate that he didn't come with some massive, bombastic pop single. That would have been worse.

Ditching Skrillex was the real problem here. Regardless of Purpose's overall quality, most people credit the best parts of the album to Skrillex's production, and he masked how anonymous of a vocalist Bieber really is. Without that unique flavor of instrumentation, this just sounds like every other basic and generic R&B sex song out there and it'd be album filler - at best.

I'm kinda hoping for Ayy Macarena to be a hit. It's not a good song by any mean but it's so stupid and the video is legit funny that I kinda have a soft spot, definitely a guilty pleasure.

Not that I want it to be a huge hit because itβs terrible but the charts are still pretty weak, I doubt Circles or Roxanne could fend it off (tho with the reception itβs getting I doubt itβll last more than a week on top) |
