Not surprisingly "Yummy" is #1 on iTunes. We'll have to see how big the lead gets, and if it sustains.

Let's hope that Bieber will block any talentless pseudo-singers from reaching the #1 spot in the near future. Especially those ones who can't even sing their choruses live.

I know this probably seems too premature, but Yummy is not lighting up iTunes that well and it should be higher on Apple Music at this point.
I'm not sure this song is going to stick around. Spotify/MV/Vinyl bundles can make it go #1 still, but it's really not doing damage out the gate.

It would be pretty sad and pathetic if Justin Bieber got outcharted by an alleged "terrible singer", but that's what's on pace to happen.

Talent and success are two different things. Selena might be very successful, but she has no vocal talent and will never have one.

@arigreedyfan I realize that Hot 100 threads aren’t exactly an exemplar of high-level discussion, but let’s not sink down to stan-Twitter levels.

It's so funny that when I gave the evidence that she's talentless and shouldn't be a singer, you suddenly change the subject. Maybe it's because Selena is such a terrible vocalist that she can no longer be defended?

Maybe it's because Selena is such a terrible vocalist that she can no longer be defended? Look, we get it that you don't like Selena. Objectively speaking, she is a weak vocalist, nobody is denying this. However, she's not the subject of this week's discussion - you just brought her up to bring controversy. Also, vocal talent is not the only factor of merit to a singer's success - charisma and catchy songs also count, and Selena definitely has both of them. I see you're a new member here (just like myself), so I'll just warn you that this community strongly condemns immature behaviour from stans, so no use going around trolling and hating on other artists. Spread love, not hate, as your idol Ariana so often says 😉

I will pray for both you and Bieber.

I apologize, there's no point in continuing this. After all, we all know that Selena Gomez is a terrible singer and that's an objective statement, so let's end this pointless conversation.

Off-topic (like everything else here) but last week's UK #1, Ellie Goulding's "River", is down to #28 this week. She's got The Weeknd wishing.

Okay, I think we all have enough of this. Sorry for the first comment, I know that it was immature and might sounded like I was trying to just make a drama. And yeah, I know that I might come across as sour - and that's because I'm sick of talentless 'artists' getting recognition and any form of success. Selena Gomez is just one example, there are others like Lil Pump, 6ix9ine and many, many more. It looks like you only have to make a catchy, autotuned song and it might be a hit. They're just a disgrace for real artists and vocalists like Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey. Fortunately, we have such singers nowadays as Ariana or Beyoncé, who actually have talent. But it's still pissing me off that someone like Selena is still achieving great success and people believe that she can sing because she sounds good on audio. Even worse is that this forum is still defending her and thinks that I'm just some troll. But yes, my comment was pointless, because I sadly won't change people's mind and GP will continue to buy and stream her music. Now, go on and report me for stating my opinion. I'm fine with that.

Some people in this forum can be very biased and suffer from illusory superiority. Don't worry. You apologized. Now just avoid talking too negative about certain artists from now on.

Well, now you voiced and explained your opinion in an educated manner, providing solid arguments for your reasoning. I don't see why anyone would report you after this. My apologies if I assumed you were trolling. You have Selena as your profile picture, and I'm way too used to trolls on Instagram, so that's why I was quick to jump into conclusions. You raise some valid points, and I used to share that opinion. However, as I previously explained, some singers are vocalists, but then we have performers/entertainers, and Selena is one of them. And it has always been like that - just think back to when Britney Spears was the biggest female artist in America among the likes of Christina Aguilera and P!nk. That doesn't make them less worthy of their success, they just succeed in a different category. In a similar vein, we also have the likes of Taylor Swift and Carole King, average singers but gifted songwriters. That's just my take on it, at least.

The Box is 35k streams away from 2 million on Spotify! Really impressive.
Also SUGAR is up 26 spots to #49, and Say So moves 19 spots to #54.

Ok, when Justin Bieber release What Do You Mean back in 2015, it sounded fresh, it shows maturity and growth, and it was the perfect comeback single. Yummy is clearly Bieber not trying hard enough and is a step back from the more superior productions of Purpose. It seems that JB listened to Stoney by Post Malone and said “Hey, I can do that” but more uninspired and plain-vanilla.

Ditching Skrillex was the real problem here. Regardless of Purpose's overall quality, most people credit the best parts of the album to Skrillex's production, and he masked how anonymous of a vocalist Bieber really is. Without that unique flavor of instrumentation, this just sounds like every other basic and generic R&B sex song out there and it'd be album filler - at best. Agreed. Yes it sounds like another "No Guidance" which is the vibe I am getting from the chorus.....darn.... wish he would stick to the usual pop sounds. The charts gonna be filled with mellow tracks this year....sad sad It's been 3 days

Lmao this is just embarrassing now, you're comparing Selena who has proved in the past she can sing (i'm not saying that she has a huge range, but she can still hold a note, one performance does not equate to talentless) to soundcloud rappers. The way you drew that correlation is mind-blowing and the fact people have just accepted your apology when your clear intent on these forums is to troll is even more confusing. Anyways, I wonder if it ever gets tiring to continue pitting women against eachother, or to even discredit someones success, especially someone who has used their success to bring awareness to the Immigration Crisis, Gun Control, and Women's Rights while also making large contributions to the WE! Charity that brings education and other necessities to impoverished cities. But yes, continue to get mad that she is successful because she doesn't have a range like Mariah, because that is extremely constructive and a good use of your time.
