Right Side of My Neck was the second single released from singer-songwriter Faye Webster's sophomore album Atlanta Millionaires Club in May 2019. I discovered her randomly on a Apple Music playlist sometime last year and quickly became obsessed with her album. I love how she fuses her folk and country and alternative and R&B influences together so smoothly. I didn't expect an R&B groove with pedal steel to be this poorly received so I'm chalking it up to unfamiliarity basis uncultured hoes.

Ballin Flossin was included on Chance the Rapper's debut album, The Big Day, which dropped in July 2019. Chance had the beat and song recorded but the collaboration with Shawn was unplanned; he was on tour in Chicago, stopped by the studio, Chance played him the song and asked him if he'd write a hook on the spot. Holy Roller was the umpteenth single released by singer-songwriter Cyn, this one included on her Mood Swing EP which was the first full project she got released while being signed to Katy Perry's Unsub Records label. I believe they serviced this to both Alt. and Pop, where it did nothing on either format, but Katy did devote a fair amount of IG posts to Cyn so can't say there wasn't effort made!

“Holy Roller” is about sacred dedication and blind faith in someone. Although the lyrics are quite bold, I believe there is a marked adolescence present in the song. To me, the lyrics reveal the aftermath of a party from the night before but still remain serious in their declaration of a cult like devotion. I laughed out loud plenty of times while writing this song, and though I think it has an undeniable sense of quirk, I can hear the absolute climax of a romantic feeling in the chorus melody." - Cyn, 2019 Ones to Watch interview

Injury Reserve are a hip-hop trio from Arizona that dropped a couple of acclaimed mixtapes which led to a record deal with Loma Vista and their self-titled debut album dropping in May 2019. I knew this would be the most polarizing choice going into this but I love how aggressively off-kilter their music is and how they take such basic concepts and flesh them out in wildly creative ways.
