surprised this is getting so much hate. as far as their late career stuff goes it's no Bang Bang, but this and Father of All are still super solid. if nothing else, they're miles better then the new Blink stuff.
the rest of the album on the other hand...

Obviously, I'm not going to hate the album like most others. I ended up giving it a 3/5, but I will say that it's disappointing. I can understand why most are complaining about the sound quality. It sounds so poorly produced and many of the songs have the similar hand-clapping in the background. If this were a Foxboro Hot Tubs album, I think it wouldn't get so much hate, but knowing that it's from Green Day, I think people expect better. I give them credit for this new try at a Garage Rock-Revival sound, but I just hope we're done with it after this era.

For some reason I feel like this is going to be a really big hit with longevity for them. Seems like a song that would be played at a sporting event.

I am legitimately enjoying the hell out of this song so I think y'all are being bozos about this. This album is Foxboro Hot Tubs Part 3. All I gotta do is flip that mental switch in order to enjoy this album and both singles so far. Unless everyone here hates Foxboro Hot Tubs, anyway.

This isn’t as bad as you guys made it out to be but of course it’ll never top their 1994-2009 work.

I realized I haven’t contributed here yet but honestly this isn’t as bad as some have made it out as & it’s actually pretty cool. I enjoy the album as a whole, reviewers like Fantano seem to be major purists for the earlier stuff. It’s actually a well-arranged album for what it’s worth. Change is a great growth tool & I think they made some well-executed dabblings in classic sounds.

Not a bad 70s glam rock style song. It's not Dookie, but they have done a lot worse. The Gary Glitter sample (which is why he gets a co-writer credit) probably didn't help the critical reception.

With "Life in the City" stumbling, the #1 on Alt is officially Green Day's to lose. Can this get there before "Caution" does?

This better not spend 10+ weeks at #1 on Canada again like their last single.

This better not spend 10+ weeks at #1 on Canada again like their last single. "Caution" will be on top of "Oh Yeah!" by tax day (April 15th) at the latest so I doubt it. It'll linger as Active's #1 for a while tho as Reprise won't stop pushing it until the Alt #1 is either achieved or out of reach.

i know i'm in the minority about this, but i'd actually kind of hoping this sneaks in a week or two up top before Caution gets there. there's a good chance this'll be Green Day's final (alt) #1 ever, and i'd much rather this hold that title then the impossibly lame Still Breathing (which imo is much more worthy of pulse's venom). plus, there's a good chance this not just reach #1 on alt and active, but hold down the spot simultaneously. when was the last song to achieve this? please tell me it wasn't Still Breathing.

This is finished, but with them hitting #1 on Alt, they're the first artist to hit #1 on Alt in four different decades.
