Not surprised based on what I was told and what programmers were told last week. They didn't want any news of the second single getting out though but obviously Billboard's Country Update news tonight made it official.
"Ocean" is a song that's getting live TV performances and Sirius/XM play. I think there's an argument to be made to have different songs be played at multiple platforms (think about Chris Stapleton's Traveller album). This song is right in Lady A's wheelhouse. I'm not sure I see it doing as well as the lead single but if it wasn't the different-sounding "Ocean", I thought they might stick with this kind of tempo.

I really just hope this ends the sophomore slump streak. That's all I ask. It doesn't even have to do *that* well.

I had never really paid attention to this song until that instant-grat music video, and wow. This is incredible. What a beautiful homage to their families, too. Even though most people aren't traveling music artists, the message is very relatable.

I literally mentioned Picutres in the other thread! The concept is amazing! I wish that was a single, but I'm certainly not mad with this song choice. And like I said before, how can you not tear up at that video?

I like this a lot. I'm not sure how big I see it being at country radio, but they have at least released a great song.

Can anyone tell me anything about the songwriters of this one? It's a good song but none of their names seem familiar. Have they written any other country hits other than the previous single which I seen Sam and Laura co-wrote?

I found that Micah wrote "Back To You" for Selena Gomez (2018) and if I remember correctly, I believe Laura wrote a song that was a #1 hit back in late 2013 for Eli Young Band for "Drunk Last Night".

I was just reading some of Sam’s writing credits and What If I Never Get Over You is his biggest hit he’s written so far. I say so far because he’s a co writer on Ingrid Andress’ current hit More Hearts Than Mine. Thanks for the info because I’d never heard of any of them before.

Officially at radio today. Impact date is February 18th, since the 17th is President's Day.

Officially 51 adds this week. That really surpassed my expectations (I thought it would get 40 at most, considering the fact that “Heart Break” got an abysmal 26 adds on impact). I’m still not so sure about “What I’m Leaving For” as a single, but after seeing how they were able to get WIINGOY to #1 I’m confident in Big Machine’s ability.

"What I'm Leaving For" enters the Mediabase Top 50 at #48. Solid start for this song to be entering the Top 50 a month after adds and besides Sam Hunt this song has the highest bullet of all the songs below #35.

I haven't been into their material for years now, but this is really nice! I'll have to give the album a listen now.

This song was the clear biggest beneficiary of the ACM Our Country program that aired Sunday night as this vaulted into the Top 40 all genre on iTunes (at #32 as of this morning) after being pretty much nowhere on a sales or streaming front.
Listening to this song the past few days after kind of forgetting about it after it went to radio, I forgot how much Hillary Scott is on this song as she sings about 75 to 80 percent of the song. Not complaining as I find her very underrated as a vocalist and this song honestly shows how soft and warm her voice is.
Fingers crossed this can be a hit, as it has had a decent run so far (at #47 after 7 weeks on the chart) and at least on Billboard this should begin closing in on the Top 40 as Kane Brown, Jake Owen, and Luke Bryan should go recurrent, I think "What I'm Leaving For" stands a good chance of passing Dillon Carmichael, and I can easily see one or both of Billy Currington and/or Gone West going recurrent given the terrible start this week for both of those songs.

By the time I saw they were gonna be on the premiere of Songland this week I thought if the choosen song would have any adds on the radio.
Does anyone know if "Champagne Night" is gonna have it? I thought the song fit them really well and I liked it a lot but I wouldnt like they drop the songs on the album so soon.

I gotta say, after that ACM special I've really come around to "What I'm Leaving For" as a single. It fits the times we live in very well (and can be interpreted as a tribute to medical workers, as Hillary said before their performance in the special). Apparently the general public thinks the same since it got all the way to #12 on iTunes last week, and seems to be steady in the top 300 which is decent considering what "Heart Break" did (or didn't do) on iTunes. P.S. This post makes me 2x Platinum ( onebuffalo)! I thought it would be nice to make it a tradition to make every milestone post in a Lady A thread (though that could backfire horribly on me if they're in between albums, lol). Just like I said when I went Platinum, I've loved being a part of Pulse and interacting with everyone here, so thanks for making this such a great community!

I’m assuming like Kelsea’a Better Luck Next Time from last season...Champagne Night will be a digital only release. Getting to #1 all genre on iTunes for that song though was very impressive!

Yep this song is done due to release of "Champagne Night" as this song lost over 50 spins and 300k in audience today on Mediabase. I expect this song to last one more week on Billboard before dropping out entirely. Kind of sad this song is done as I love it, but it makes sense because "Champagne Night" has more buzz (#11 all genre on iTunes), and this single isn't exactly the best to have our during a pandemic where most people aren't leaving their homes.

They made the right choice. This single was looking like another "Heart Break" for them (slow climb, low-impact, wrecks their momentum). They needed to hit with another surefire hit after getting some of their magic back with "What If I Never Get Over You," and "Champagne Night" is looking like it'll do that for them.
