Oh I didn’t mean with the formula. I meant with the formatting of the charts themselves. Like how I’m making them. I’ve got a plan for something that might liven it up. Stay tuned for that.
As for the 2021 chart, I plan to post that as accurately to the real points as I can. Yes, it’s stupid that Billboard let One Too Many chart for as many weeks as it did, but I’m going for accuracy’s sake

Heeeeere's 1968! Points are a fair bit higher across the board with this one because there was generally a lot more stability on the charts. Normally I'd be annoyed that we had another top ten full of #1's and literally 11 through 14 were all #2's because i like the variety but in this case song #11 is terrible so let's just be happy with what we got. This will also probably be the only 700,000 point #1 song we ever get, at least within a single year. It didn't even get all its points in this year!

That 1968 Top 3 is iconic, and hey, we even got an instrumental at #2.

Wow, Hey Jude was psychotically massive for its time. Looking at the 80s charts, the only songs to top 700k in a year were Bette Davis Eyes and Endless Love in 1981

I know I've been blitzing these out lately I think I might take a break for a little bit. In any case we've finished up the years with actual classics that anyone cares about and are now heading into the wilderness of the early 60's however accurate Billboard charts still need to be made regardless so I will do them for sure just like not as fast because right now I'm a bit burnt out of making these. I wasn't even planning to do 1968 this fast but it was one of those things where once i started it kinda just happened.
Anyway about this chart the stability was kinda insane compared to the rest of the decade. Usually the bottom 30 or so songs are filled with 11 or 12 week chart runs but here it was all over the place. And it was really obvious but it's still nice to finally have a #1 song of the year that I truly love
Also now that their entire 60's run has been chronicled can we shout out the Supremes for having 6 top 10 songs of the year overall? Absolute queen shit, twice they placed songs higher than anything from the Beatles and pretty much all great songs to boot!

Looking at the 80s charts, the only songs to top 700k in a year were Bette Davis Eyes and Endless Love in 1981 To be fair my formula just gives more points to compensate for very short chart runs so you can't really compare. I think if you were to use my formula for 80's songs there would be a few more. But if you just compare to the rest of the big hits from the 60's its just in another league. Its full run including 2 weeks in January 1969 was actually 749010 points which means that there hasn't even been anything else from the decade to get within 100000 points.
Also thank god Sugar Sugar is no longer the biggest one lol

That list of songs that just missed the new 1968 list has me fuming. Several classics in there. Anyway, 9 more songs have been added to the playlist: - Chain of Fools - Abraham, Martin and John - For Once in My Life - Who's Making Love - Valleri - Just Dropped In (To See What Condition You're In) - Hush - Wichita Lineman - Stormy

I hope Aquarius ends up being 1969 J-D Year End #1. That felt like the biggest song of the year.

But also if we could just switch #100 and #101 I wouldn't really complain

When a 33 year old thinks they know which song felt like the biggest song of.... 1969.
That's a know-it-all complex on a whole other level.

I get what you mean about the burnout. There’s a reason I usually do my charts every 2 weeks instead of weekly. I always feel really tired after doing a chart and need some time to recharge. Plus, yknow, work, girlfriend, Bible study, social life, house work, other hobbies, etc.

Maybe just don't say stupid s**t -- repeatedly, every day -- and others won't feel the need to "attack" your posts. Posters like you deserve to be called out at every turn, because you take every advantage to troll the threads with your nonsense that you KNOW everyone is sick of hearing. It's never too late to adapt or change, but instead you keep doubling-down on your brand of ignorant, and even spiteful, in the same shit you continue to post. And weird posts like this one. Knock it off and you won't have to defend yourself against "attackers." You're not the victim here, boo. You are the perpetrator.

Ummmm hey guys can we not do this? This is supposed to just be a thread of old charts can't we just get along & share stories about how our minds were all blown when we heard Diana Ross for the first time?

Yeah, I don't need the infighting that occurs every damn week in every Hot 100 thread on these retrospective list threads. I'd prefer to stay sane, thank you very much.

Ummmm hey guys can we not do this? This is supposed to just be a thread of old charts can't we just get along & share stories about how our minds were all blown when we heard Diana Ross for the first time? Sorry, I was unprovokingly attacked and felt the need to defend myself. But yeah, the first time I heard Diana Ross was some time in the early 1990s when I was a little kid. I somehow got my hands on the Anthology CDs, and every time I listen to it, I get nostalgic and think about those times.

Saying Something “feels” like the number one song in a given year is relevant only if you experienced that year.
As we know some songs are tome period specific and may “feel” dated now but may have been a huge hit at the time

Are you glitching sis? You just apologized for going off topic and now you're out here with a random, spiteful, childish off-topic post minutes later. It's giving me unhinged vibes.

It's not off topic. It has relevance to the 2021 Year End chart, which will be posted in less than 6 months time. I'm just pointing out how ridiculous it is that this song is going to steal a spot on the YE chart because it gets to chart week after week despite having one of the worst callout scores on country radio, and is pretty much irrelevant in every other metric and submetric.

Why you include Kanye west? He didn't release again...such a mess Donda will probably be released sometime Saturday evening, when I'm at the Air Supply concert in Atlantic City. Please enjoy the Air Supply concert - should be a welcome break for you from your Keith Urban obsession

You know I was really enjoying this thread when it didn’t have the unnecessary drama and bickering that seems to plague most pulse threads. Can we please bring that back? How about we move all that back to the weekly hot 100 threads, since those are beyond saving anyways

I was here since the beginning of the thread and never really caused drama. The thread started going downhill when Edith Puthie went on here. I think the problem is that some people on here don't show basic respect towards others and don't know how to agree to disagree.

I really don’t care who wants to blame who for starting stuff. I just want it off this thread. Last thing I’d want is for this to get ruined like most other threads on this site.

Yeah, you're right. I should just ignore that user.
But anyways, back on topic. This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of Air Supply's only #1 hit, The One That You Love. My favorite Air Supply song is Even the Nights Are Better. When I was a kid in the 1990s, I had the Now and Forever cassette. The song that made them big internationally, though, was Lost In Love in 1979/1980. The song that would sound best at a concert is Making Love Out of Nothing at All, it would truly not be an Air Supply concert if they don't play that song (kind of like a Chicago concert without Beginnings).

I'm going through of these and wow, the 2020 is a downgrade from what we actually did get, it was good to see Kings & Queens (my guess is it won't make it on the 2021 one) as well as positions but it comes with Out West, I Should Probably Go to Bed and Tap In, if only we could've got Midnight Sky and cardigan instead.

Well, shifting the 2020 period to J-D removes the final 6 weeks of the UGC era that counted on the original list. That really altered the 2020 list, but I’m just glad that Sucker and I Don’t Care didn’t back their way onto the J-D list.
