I still think the Bieber album will be huge. He made a mistake with Yummy but heβs still got it. Nobody can predict itΒ Listen to the new song. Much better than Yummy and a clear evolution from Purpose, heβll be just fine. If he can chart high with Yummy then imagine what he could do with an actually good song.

You said album tho and you can never tell how an album is gonna do , not counting the front loaded bundle filled first weeks , I donβt see his album being massive but you never know

The new Bieber song is so boring. The cadence is so slow, kinda a snooze fest.

Moneybagg Yo is gonna have a hit sometime this year (also feel like he'll be a XXL Freshman). All Dat is past it's prime but U Played is a banger and if not that, then Protect da Brand with DaBaby could also give DaBaby another hit. Also been on the look out for Herion Young. Personally handpicked by Future to be a part of '1800 Seconds Vol. 2: Curated By Future,' a 12-track project featuring a crop of rising stars in music and his song, Hit Like Mike, has the potential to be a big hit. Moneybaggβs been in the game way too long to be considered a Freshman. His final pitch for XXL came back in 2018.

No, she didn't. Her sound is largely influenced by Lana Del Rey's sound and Lorde's sound. People who came before her. I can hear the Lana and Lorde influences, but I think Billieβs best description is watered down SOPHIE. WWAFAWDWG has kind of a similar theme as SOPHIEβs last album, but the experimental side is just not as provocative as SOPHIE. I don't think SOPHIE when I hear Billie. FINNEAS is too much of a minimalist to match the chaotic and glitchy style of SOPHIE. A better example for Billie would be early Grimes, especially Visions. Similar minimalist style, same soft vocals, not to mention both Billie and Grimes like playing dark characters in their music.

Oh my God, is Bieber just gonna do Chris Brown imitations now??? I swear he is because this s**t even sounds like it was made with a type beat.
I swear he and Chris Brown are in a competition as to who can make the most successful generic R&B song ever.

All this discussion I've seen about who invented ASMR in music and not a single mention of the Ying Yang Twins smh

I swear he and Chris Brown are in a competition as to who can make the most successful generic R&B song ever. They did a song together years ago called Ladies Love Me, which definitely wasn't a generic R&B song lol (it sampled Look At Me Now). I think more than Justin imitating Chris, what's really going on is they are both imitating Michael Jackson (Chris Brown especially). Having two other Michael Jackson imitators in Usher and Justin Timberlake as your choice of mentors when you enter the pop music industry doesn't help much either lol.

A month into the new year and we already have three Top 10 debuts (Yummy, Life is Good, Godzilla), and since this year is expected to have a lot of new albums from big acts expect more.
For comparison sake, 2018 had 40 Top 10 debuts - 19 of which didn't make any year-end list. In contrast, 2019 had 21 debuts and only 5 (counting Futsal Shuffle and Take What You Want for now) didn't make any lists.

If Drake does as many features as he did in 2018, including his album bomb week, he should score anywhere from 10 or more top 10 debuts. That's from one artist. There's also artists like Adele, Rihanna, Kendrick, J. Cole and other artists who should score at least 1 top 10 hit, not including the several other top 10 hits we will mostly likely see during the year. All in all, I'm expecting the top 10 hits this year to surpass the mark set in 2018.

if you put all the 2019 XXL freshmen in a lineup and asked people to guess which one would be the biggest in 2020 I wonder how many people would pick Roddy

Big rises for Billie: bad guy and everything i wanted back in Spotifyβs top ten, when the partyβs over at number 22, and lovely at number 46. Disappointing numbers for Demi (47) and LNX (not charting).

YouTube US finally fixed the issue with it's numbers for Life Is Good. It's back to #2, behind the Box.

Wow that is pretty bad for Demi although it's not on any playlists. Demi's performance is the top trending on Youtube US. Like I said, it's a very awards-friendly song so I'm not that surprised it's not attracting that much attention beyond an eye-grabbing performance.

So, Life Is Good is directly behind the Box on YouTube US, Spotify US, Apple Music US and the Hot 100. Ugh. Very little gains for both songs in today's radio update, too.

Woah, Letter to Nipsey is #6 at AM, Anyone is #16.
Also damn, I didn't realize how big Pu$$y Fairy is but it's #12??? I mean, I'm glad Jhene Aiko is finally getting a proper hit of her own after Sativa was unjustly snubbed but it feels like this came out of nowhere.

Rodeo remix isnβt doing too well. Iβm confident Lil Nas can have another hit but he needs to release new music, clearly

I just canβt believe that with all the bad press they been having recently they had a muti talented black female in all four major awards with two massive hits critically acclaimed inderisty backing , Who career broke all models of the pop star who also raps and they decided to award someone who canβt sing . They had it on a sliver platter I just , the perfect opportunity for good press and not be seen as sexist and racist as they are If anything, the bad press likely motivated them even more to reward someone white. It's like how calling Trump supporters racist only makes them dig in deeper.

Didnβt Norah Jones, a new artist, sweep the general category in 2003 also? π Her music did, but she did not. Jones didn't write "Don't Know Why" and therefore didn't win SOTY. Wow, all this arguing over an awards show that hasn't been relevant in nearly a decade lmao. Billie deserved all the wins she got if anything she is the sound of popular music to come. People saying Ariana 'revived' pop music are also admitting that 7 rings is poppy in any way are hilarious lol, 7 rings is far more RnB than anything (and also pretty terrible all things considered). I think of it like this, a decade from now people aren't going to see 2019 as the year of Ariana, or the year of Lana, but the year that Billie Eilish became huge. Honestly, the comparisons to Lady Gaga are very accurate as thats how we see 2009 in hindsight. Now can we PLEASE stop arguing? The Grammy's do not even really matter and not worth all the anger lmao Just because something doesn't matter to you or isn't relevant to you doesn't mean that's true in general. Tens of millions of people watched the show, the show has helped with press and sales, and obviously the industry itself paid a lot of attention. So, yes, it is relevant. Plus you were apparently bothered enough to post about it, so on some level it does have relevance to you. The sales effects are relevant to this thread.
