Time for some extras:Move with Me Sister - The Del FuegosSounds like something I would surely upgrade for the guitars alone. His vocals have a bit of Billy Idol in them and ...wait for it. That sweet sweet "Cowbell". House of Freaks ''When The Hammer Came Down''I expected a lot more for a song with that title. I guess it's passable. Like a harder sounding Morrisey or something. I didn't really feel the hook, or in this case the hammer didn't quite hit me. Love is a Shield - CamouflageNow we are getting somewhere. I love these synthpop bands who were not afraid to inject a little Hi-NRG into their music. You can hear it in the bassline. Probably would have made my top 10-15 if featured on the list. In Vivo - WireI liked this one from that very first note. It had that classic New Order sound. Much better than "Eardrum Buzz". Download? Check for the mp3 archives Holding on to the Earth - Sam PhillipsI loved this one. The female vocals gelled perfectly with the psychedelic vibe. As of now my favorite discovery and I could have sacrificed one top 10 slot for this song. Stupid Kids - ChristmasThis is funny because at one point Mötley Crüe played around with the idea of X-Mas for their band name. With that being said. Christmas is a lame name for a band, but the song wasn't too bad. That one chick was the drummer? That's pretty hot. Answers to Nothing - Midge UreI don't know what it was about Midge Ure, but his vocals were kinda enticing, so while his melodies were not the best, the songs were pretty good. Hungry - Royal Crescent MobThis felt kinda corny. The whole "H A N G R Y" line sounded stupid. The guitars could not save it either. Control I'm Here - Nitzer EbbThis was just a bunch of noizy noize with terrible vocals that I really really wanted to click off. Worst listen yet. Bottom 10 for sure. Let's Go Round There - The Darling BudsI remember this band. I also remember being the only one who put "Crystal Clear" in the top 10 in that 1990 RD. Hard to go wrong with these female vocals. Love the early 80's Blondie/Go Go's vibe here. Easy top 20 on my list. maybe even top 10 again? Bonus X-Tras:Saved - SwansThis was a first time listen. I didn't care for it at all. Is that the lead singer of the band was later the Crash Test Dummies? Weird vocal tones are not able to save this one. Lullaby - The CureThis song is passable. I didn't really get his vocals groove here. I like that it sounded a bit like one of Thompson Twins melodies, but the whole "Disintegration" singles except for one song which I love were not really my cup o tea. For The Cure I was more into their uptempo stuff. "Inbetween Days", "Let's Go To Bed" , "Boys Don't Cry"even "Love Cats" was great.

Well, I did say I'd work on posting those extras yesterday; I didn't promise I'd actually succeed, lol. But either way, here they are at last. 10 songs in this post, and 1 more in its own post (warning: Doc is once again not going to like the one I singled out ) You'll see another song from The Replacements I would've preferred to rank instead of that weird-ass 101 Dalmatians cover, another Love & Rockets miss, and another song you can rank in 89 Active right now ("No Souvenirs"). House Of Freaks, Duran Duran, and The Innocence Mission are no strangers to being covered in these early Alt rankdowns. Fairground Attraction's song was actually a worldwide pop hit but only reached #80 on the Hot 100. Caterwaul was apparently a band with enough interest to make a couple appearances on 120 Minutes. Which leaves us with a few classically "D-List supporting act"-type band names like Fetchin' Bones and Scruffy The Cat (R.I.P. Charlie Chesterman) overall Year-End position | Song title | Artist | Video | peak | weeks on | chart points | 143 | No Big Deal | Love & Rockets | | #19 | 5 | 37 | 144 | Love Crushing | Fetchin' Bones | | #19 | 5 | 36 | 145 | Sun Gone Down | House of Freaks | | #23 | 6 | 34 | 146 | All She Wants Is | Duran Duran | | #24 | 6 | 31 | 147 | The Sheep's a Wolf | Caterwaul | | #25 | 8 | 31 | 148 | No Souvenirs | Melissa Etheridge | | #18 | 4 | 30 | 149 | Achin' to Be | The Replacements | | #22 | 4 | 30 | 150 | Black Sheep Wall | The Innocence Mission | | #22 | 5 | 29 | 151 | Moons of Jupiter | Scruffy the Cat | | #23 | 6 | 28 | 152 | Perfect | Fairground Attraction | | #23 | 6 | 27 |

Who else to lead us into the reveals but long-time friends of the retro rankdowns, the Beastie Boys? This song comes from their legendary Dust Brothers-produced sophomore effort, Paul's Boutique. This album showed they were more than just gimmicks/dilettantes in rap, maintaining legitimacy among both the hip hop and rock crowds, while helping to elevate the art form of sampling at the same time.

A little over 1 day to submit. we're up to 9 lists, and I've gotten word from quite a few people who are making their ballots. I'm hoping we can start on time...however, if you think you'll be cutting it close, LET ME KNOW, AND WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO WORK SOMETHING OUT.

A few more extras: Bring Me Edelweiss - EdelweissThis song came up on Tom's RD. All I can say is that my actual #100 song would have moved up a notch to make room for this travesty. Mixed Emotions - The Rolling StonesI like this song a lot. Charted it and all that too. I could easily slot this jam in between some Def Lepp and Ratt in the Active RD we will be doing soon. Parts of the song remind me of "Start Me Up", "She's So Cold" and other 80's Stones classics. Also it's great to see Mick with a guitar. Satellites - Rickie Lee JonesThe only song I really know about is "Chuck E.'s In Love" and it isn't for me. This one falls around the same level. It's pleasant, but that's about it for me. Praying to a New God - Wang ChungThis was always an interesting and versatile band. They went from New Wave to Dance Hall to Synthpop. This has a bit of "Fire In The Twilight" which is a lot more guitar oriented. I like that. The Prisoner - Howard JonesGood old Howard Jones. Hard to go wrong with this uptempo style. This song is driven by a great bassline. Shatter Shelleyan - OrphanThis one didn't do much for me. I didn't like her vocals and the instrumental composition was all the place. It reminded me of Bjork songs. One Little Girl - Toad the Wet SprocketI wasn't aware they had songs before "All I Want". This one wasn't too bad for a first time listen, but the one little girl and boy lines before every verse sounded lazy , and became annoying real quick. Pity because I enjoyed the melody a lot. It even had a little of Heart's "Crazy On You"That Smiling Face - CamouflageI didn't recall this single, but it sounded just as good as "The Great Commandment". I can hear the Italo Disco influences in the bass. Sun King - The CultSomething about the Cult always made me think of The Doors. With that said I'm definitely aboard with this jam. Also I just realized "Sun King"------ More extras: Twist in My Sobriety - Tanita TikaramThe music was alright, but a bit too mellow for me. Also I would have preferred some more feminine tones in her vocals.

We're down to about 12 hours before I'll be back home from my shift tonight. However, one poster ( MoD) has told me that he will be submitting, but needs Tuesday to do so. So, in actuality, your window of opportunity will last at least until his list has entered my inbox. But unless you give me a heads up, MoD's ballot will be the last one I'm accepting, and anything arriving to me after his will be considered late and not counted.

And done. I liked about 80 of them. Only didn't care for about 7.
My #100 was obvious the second I heard it.
Not worried about rankdown closeness...I suspect my top 3 leave fairly early, but wanted to boost those songs.
Top first time listen was my #5.

Yea I won't be able to make it.
From the songs I know, I would have had She Drives Me Crazy at 1 with Love Song at 2 and A Little Respect at 3.
New Order songs and Orinoco Flow would have been high too. Personal Jesus isn't one of my favorites from Depeche but still a nice song so I probably would have had it really high regardless. I would have likely tanked Love Shack, a rare 80s song I cannot really stand.

No Big Deal - Love & Rockets same ass bassline as "So Alive". better song, but I still expected more fire from this. Song title fits my thoughts perfectly.
Love Crushing- Fetchin' Bones LOOOOOVED IT! Love That Hook. This has got to be the most "Hair" Alt got. Easy top 30 on my list if we had ranked this.
Sun Gone Down - House of Freak This one had a cool vibe. Great vocal tones were a plus. They sounded British but they were not. I do love the percussion in this the most.
All She Wants Is - Duran Duran I always thought this song sounded really off cue for Duran Duran. It wasn't bad I just got very little Duran Duran vibe from it. It still some how managed to get a peak of #21 on my charts. Blame that on Simon LeBon's vocal perfection.
The Sheep's a Wolf - Caterwaul The song title sounds like a better name for a band. I found her vocals to be very fetching. The rest of the song falls into perfect melody.
No Souvenirs - Melissa Etheridge I found no use for this song on Mainstream Rock either.
Achin' to Be - The Replacements I have enjoyed all The Replacements songs so far. Nice melody. Not nervous, and still very catchy.
Black Sheep Wall - The Innocence Mission I didn't really get the feel for her vocals at first, but the melody rose them to a level were I enjoyed the song as a whole. It Has a nice sophistipop style that reminds me of Cock Robin.
Moons of Jupiter - Scruffy the Cat I knew there would be problems when I read the band name Scruffy The Cat. The hokeyness is off the chart here.
Perfect - Fairground Attraction I wanted to write this off as hokey, but I kinda ended up liking it. Stray Cats with female vocals. Not bad at all, and I could have easily pushed it into my top 50.
Pick Hit Extra
Hey Ladies - Beastie Boys I don't know what happened to these three ultra vocal wonders, but I'm glad they got day jobs or whatever. So this is what would have happened if this raptastic classic had graced the list we are ranking. The Edelweiss travesty would move to #99, my actual #100 , which is still ear bleeding terrible would now be up to #98 ,and this undeniable mesh of ear soothing sounds would be my new #100. ;)

Last time I'm using the broad tag list. We're technically past the deadline. However, I'm anticipating at least two more lists, from Juanca and MoD, in the next 24 hours. I don't want to delay the start of reveals for too long, but if both of their ballots aren't in my possession by 4am PT tomorrow, I won't be able to close shop until the next day. So let me know if you can sneak in a list by Thursday morning, so you don't miss out.

I have to say I’ve discovered SEVERAL good songs in this list. Actually it’s one of the few instances where a discovery has made my top 5 in a Hot 100 list! It was a tough list to rank. Actually I decided to rank a few pop-ish songs a bit lower than what my love for them would indicate, just because they were a bit too pop for this list. Look forward to the results and seeing how far I’m in the Closeness ranking
