"Rain on Me" is probably in good position for a Pop Duo/Group nomination, right?

I doubt they'd push the Bieber collab since that seems like it was meant to be short-term so unless it takes off on its own after the first week, then they might just drop it and focus more on the Gaga collab since it's part of an era so it might have a better chance anyway.

I feel like if the ceremony actually happens it's gonna be very somber, I expect a lot of nominations for Covid-related songs that are currently clogging the charts and we'll definitely see a tribute.

I doubt that will be the case. The nomination period began on September 1 -- a lot of music has been released since then. If anything, I think the current slowdown of the industry will help albums and songs released earlier this year / late last year have a better shot at nominations. We will definitely see a tribute, and who knows where our society will be by then. Maybe we won't be able to have an actual ceremony, since having that many people under one roof / in one room may not be permitted by then. Some are saying concerts and big gatherings might not be permitted as late as 2022.

Really hope Rina Sawayama's debut Sawayama gets a nod or two. Perhaps an outside chance at AOTY? It's phenomienal and has high critical acclaim.

Savage / Say so / Toosie slide for Best rap/ sung performance. π Paul Grein at Billboard was speculating that the track is a contender for a nomination in best rap performance, not rap/sung. This would be the first time in 23 years that an all-female collab was nominated in that category (or one of its forerunner categories, best rap solo performance or best rap performance by a duo or group). This would be BeyoncΓ©'s first nomination for best rap performance. Queen Bey has been nominated for best rap/sung performance (formerly known as best rap/sung collaboration) eight times, but she has always provided the "sung" part of the collab. BeyoncΓ© has been nominated for a total of 70 Grammys, more than any other female artist. She needs just 11 more nominations to surpass Quincy Jones as the most nominated person in Grammy history. That will all be on Gaga's management and label. Now whether voters are interested in both songs is another matter. Rain On Me is likely in but I can't see the interest in SWU remaining high. And if any of Scooter's clients plan to put out a collab later this year (I think Demi was supposed to have a duet with Justin in the works?) I see Scooter pushing that instead of SWU.

I can see a label not caring much for a song by their artist on another artist's album (and thus a different label), but would a management team even be directly connected to a label? I would see a management team as being employed by the artist themselves and thus being independent from a label in that they could do things (ie, promote) beyond the restrictions that a label would have, particularly when taking into account other aspects of an artist's career such as touring or merch that may not necessarily be directly linked or stemming from their record label.

Management is technically separated, and the label would be the one who foots the bill on FYC ads and whatnot...though I guess there's nothing stopping a manager from taking out a full page FYC ad if he or she wanted? But I think the schmoozing and working of connections is where the managers usually come in wrt to Grammy campaigning (and any award attention for their client is good attention for everyone's bottom line) which is why I mention Scooter. In that sense Scooter is more 'free' to campaign for ALL of Ariana's songs and not just the ones her label put out, but on the same token knowing that Gaga's peeps are going to be pushing it hard also frees him up from having to focus on it too much if he has other things on his plate. I made a slight mistake in my previous post, Justin's on Def Jam now (because I/DJ split up from each other again). I think he's literally DJ's only major pop artist to focus on, so SWU will at least get their attention. Republic (Ariana's label) has more options so they might or might not care.

It's a nice song, but not a ground-breaking collab. And nominating Scooter would bring an extra layer of controversy, which I'm sure the Grammys are trying desperately to avoid after everything that happened last year. Sam Smith and Demi (or really anything else Demi) would be a safer bet for Scooter's camp. And Gaga and Ari will most certainly land somewhere.

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question. With the recent release of Britney's "Mood Ring (By Demand)," am I correct in thinking that this song will still not be eligible for submission to a category such as Record of the Year because 1) it was from an album released back in 2016, and 2) there's no official album re-release to coincide with this song (e.g. Apple iTunes is still showing this album as released in 2016 as opposed to 2020)? The treatment of Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" got me thinking about strategies by record labels with respect to awards. Thoughts?

I hardly ever do predictions, but how's the Record of the Year frontrunners looking? Something like this? I'm sure I'm missing some.
Billie Eilish - Everything I Wanted Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now Harry Styles - Adore You Maren Morris - The Bones (would they submit Hozier version?) Maroon 5 - Memories Post Malone - Circles Roddy Rich - The Box The Weeknd - Blinding Lights
Possible: Selena Gomez - Lose You to Love Me; Dan + Shay with JB - 10,000 Hours; Lady Gaga & Ariana - Rain on Me; H.E.R. - Slide

I donβt know if itβs catching on in any capacity in the US but Moses Sumney could be a name to add to any of the general categories, or album with GrΓ¦.

I feel like Circles is gonna take Song of the Year if it's nominated while Blinding Lights will get Record of the Year, Future Nostalgia and or Run The Jewels new album for AOTY.

Does removing that 30 song limit have an effect at all?

Replace them with either Song for Our Daughter, Eternal Atake, Circles, SAWAYAMA or Heaven to a Tortured Mind. also no way in hell 100 gecs is gonna be even considered for Best New Artist. It would be amazing if they did but I think they're too niche and weird for the Grammys

For Rap Album of the Year so far, I think the picks are Mac Miller, Run the Jewels, Roddy, and Lil Baby, and I think Circles is gonna win the award.
