Just wanted to say that I've been working on this on and off for a week or so as I needed to familiarize myself more with her Christmas material. Given that Trisha is only featured on "Silent Night", I really have no idea yet where I'm going to rank that because as much as I love it I'm not sure I can justify a high ranking for it here. Also, I did want to add that Trisha's version "The Man With the Bag" from Christmas Together is pretty good albeit kind of short. Too bad there isn't a version available on YouTube because it'd be a great addition.

I totally agree about “The Man With The Bag”, and had actually meant to include it and it was an oversight that I didn’t. If castleoblivion26 (the only one besides me who has submitted so far) would be ok with adding it in, we can add it to the list.

It's about how good the song is, not whose album it's on ;)

I will start this soon, but a handful of questions first.
1. What will be #1?
2. What will be #22?
3. Which 'era' will do better - The Sweetest Gift or Christmas Together?
4. Which Garth collaboration ("I'm Beginning To See The Light", "Marshmallow World", "Baby, It's Cold Outside") will place the highest?
5. Any other thoughts/comments?

1. What will be #1? No idea! "Away in a Manger" seems like a favorite if I remember correctly so maybe that, but honestly I really have no good guesses for what will win
2. What will be #22? "Santa Baby" or one of the Garth duets such as "Baby, It's Cold Outside"
3. Which 'era' will do better? Going to have to go with The Sweetest Gift
4. Which Garth collaboration will place the highest? "I'm Beginning to See the Light" with both "Marshmallow World" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in the bottom five for sure
5. Any other thoughts/comments? Despite my love for Christmas music and long adoration for "Another Angel Gets Its Wings", I had never listened to Trisha's first holiday album nor the collaboration album with Garth. Because of that I ended up spending a bit more time on this rankdown than the other Christmas ones as I wanted to familiarize myself more with the songs. In the end I can say that I'll for sure be revisiting her Christmas songs in the future and will always have this playlist to fall back on. I really have no idea what to expect going into this other than the certainty that anything attached with the name Garth to it will more than likely be an automatic bottom 5 contender lol.

It’s already started but don’t forget to tune into Garth and Trisha’s Christmas special tonight on CBS! They’re taking requests and he just did a great performance of “Belleau Wood” as well as “Santa Baby”.

#22 - Marshmallow WorldWriters: Peter DeRose, Carl Sigman Total Points: 120 someguy - 17 bboat11 - 19 castleoblivion26 - 20 tim - 20 taylor - 22 .indulgecountry - 22 We kick things off with "Marshmallow World", the first Garth duet to leave us. The song isn't often recorded, but was first a hit for Bing Crosby 70 years ago. This one was always destined for the bottom, as it received two last place ranks, and an additional two more bottom threes.

#21 - Baby It's Cold OutsideWriter: Frank Loesser Total Points: 116 bboat11 - 17 tim - 18 taylor - 19 .indulgecountry - 20 castleoblivion26 - 21 someguy - 21 The Garth duets take another hit, as "Baby It's Cold Outside" leaves us at #21. Like "Marshmallow World", this one was always destined to be a bottom contender, and managed to squeak out of last place by 4 points. This one didn't receive any last place ranks, but like "Marshmallow World", its highest placement was a #17 ranking. Written in 1944, this song has seen many, many recordings of it, and brought many interesting combinations. Rod Stewart/Dolly Parton, Anne Murray/Michael Buble, Lee Ann Womack/Harry Connick Jr., Kelly Clarkson/Ronnie Dunn are just a few of the country related combos that have recorded it.

#20 - I'm Beginning To See The LightWriters: Duke Ellington, Don George, Johnny Hodges, Harry James Total Points: 108 tim - 13 castleoblivion26 - 15 someguy - 16 taylor - 21 .indulgecountry - 21 bboat11 - 22 And with that, we lose all three Garth duets in a row to kick off the reveals. "I'm Beginning To See The Light" is our #20, and actually loses a tie with our #19, which also has 108 points. It loses the tiebreaker, because its highest rank is #13, while our #19 song will also bring the first top 10 loss of the rankdown. The song, written in 1944, hasn't been covered too many times, but notable versions include Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra and two of the song's writers - Duke Ellington and Harry James.

#19 - Santa BabyWriters: Joan Javitz, Philip Springer, Tony Springer Total Points: 108 .indulgecountry - 10 bboat11 - 12 taylor - 20 castleoblivion26 - 22 someguy - 22 tim - 22 As mentioned in the last reveal, #19 is tied with #20, but "Santa Baby" wins the tiebreaker as it has our first top 10 rank. We also see the remaining three people lose their #22s, so this song was quite polarizing. The song, written in 1953, was first made famous by Eartha Kitt. Other popular versions include ones from Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift and Michael Buble, who covered it as "Santa Buddy". Trisha's version reached the top 20 of AC radio. This is one of my least favourite Christmas songs, no matter who sings it.

I'll stop there for a little bit, but will hope to come back and reveal a few more later tonight. The next song will NOT come from Christmas Together.

"Marshmallow World" is just plain not a very good song. Melodically it is passable, but those lyrics are cringeworthy af. It's like it belongs on a Kidz Bop Christmas album or something.
"Baby It's Cold Outside" was alright. It's never one of my favorite Christmas songs, but Trisha and Garth do a pretty good job with it.
"I'm Beginning To See The Light" was absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! It was literally painful to sit through. This should have been last place, but thank God it was still bottom 3.
"Santa Baby" is a cute song. I don't love it or hate it, but I am always mildly amused by it. I was honestly surprised by what a great job Trisha did with it! The song requires a sort of natural sweetness to the vocal that really fits well with the image that somebody Kellie Pickler had when she recorded it. Trisha has a much heavier voice normally, but she absolutely nailed the personality of this one!

"Marshmallow World" isn't something I've ever heard before, but honestly that may be the worst Xmas song I've possibly come across to date. Garth Brooks of course set the bar low, but wow that was unbelievably bad. Happy to see the other 2 songs he ruined went out right behind it, too. Hands down the correct bottom 3 as all of those duets were horrific and totally unlistenable.
"Santa Baby," on the other hand, was a decent cover of a song I quite enjoy imo. I know the song has a niche appreciation though so I am not surprised to see it out early.

#18 - I'll Be Home For ChristmasWriters: Kim Gannon, Walter Kent Total Points: 99 someguy - 7 taylor - 15 tim - 19 castleoblivion26 - 19 .indulgecountry - 19 bboat11 - 20 "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is the first non- Christmas Together track to leave us, at #18. The song can be found on Trisha's Christmas Icon compilation album. I lose my #7 here, but most people had this in the 19-20 range, so it was never really on track to do that well. The song was written in 1943, and first made popular by Bing Crosby. It has since been recorded many, many times, by artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, Pentatonix and Elvis Presley/Carrie Underwood, just to name a few.
