The best thing would be to comply with the CDC and the rest of the world and postpone it; not handpick their favorite nominees and put them in a downsized room. A smaller gathering of of people is still a gathering.
The faster this gets dealt with, the sooner we can (hopefully) return to normalcy (whatever that even means these days). ACMs need to take the precautionary measure of postponing until the summer or fall.

I say cancel the ACMs. Announce the winners and ship the Awards to the Winners. That’s the safest way.

I think the best thing would just have the essential people, (nominees, presenters, production people, backing musicians for performers, etc) assuming it is not postponed. Pretty much go almost completely crowdless or postpone it. That list is not a small group

I say it'll be cancelled/postponed. Think about it, a group of musicians whose entire livelihood depends on their ability to sing are going to take every precaution that they can to avoid getting a nasty respiratory virus...
Most artists would ultimately be fine of course, but we know how much the Country industry loves its guests of honor... Imagine Loretta Lynn or Willie Nelson sitting prominently in the audience. Or hell, even Dolly seems pretty healthy, but she is of the age where this disease could greatly decrease her long-term quality of life. Reba's not exactly that young either. Not to mention Maren being like a thousand weeks pregnant right now. There's no way they keep this going as scheduled.

Not to mention Maren being like a thousand weeks pregnant right now. There's no way they keep this going as scheduled. If you read the announced performers of that cover song carefully, you will notice Maren Morris, who is among the performers in the studio version, is skipped. I don't think she would be there if there are no virus anyway since she is already 9 months pregnant when performing at RodeoHouston. I think they can still announce the winners on social media at that time, but the show itself could intergrate with ACM Honors that will be hosted later.

Hell, this is something that could actually easily kill all four of them were they to catch it and that's something I just don't want to imagine. I'm fully expecting them to move to perhaps June, maybe around the same time as the CMT Music Awards.

Gonna be quite an overloaded awards season in the fall — ACMs in mid-Sept., CMAs in early Nov., and while there’s yet to be any word on it, I have to imagine preliminary discussions have begun for figuring out what might happen with the CMTs in June.
(Also there are too many shows.)

They should’ve done the whole award show online with the artists doing vie satellite and give a speech once they win the award. That would be fun.

Why is Kelsea singing homecoming queen??? Well her new single is a duet with Halsey so it would be pretty hard for her to do that as a 'live performance' when they aren't in the same location, and she's not really any better off doing some random album cut instead of the recognizable hit, so it makes perfect sense to me for her to be doing HQ? honestly.

Well, John and Kane are. So are Lady Antebellum. And LBT. Maybe they didn’t think they’d have a new single already. 🤷♀️

I'm less shocked by Kelsea doing HQ? than I am by several artists doing random songs that aren't even recent hits. I think it makes sense given the situation surrounding the show being postponed because of COVID-19 for some of these songs to be performed, but if the awards show had been able to happen regularly, we surely wouldn't be seeing performances of "Humble and Kind" and "Most People Are Good," i.e.

That's probably even a better reasoning for Kelsea's song choice, honestly. "Homecoming Queen?" fits that more than her new single does.

Just want to say Kelsea sounded great on HQ, overall we've gotten some really nice performances...although less of the acoustic sitting in my barn strumming a guitar vibe then I was expecting (hi Shania!)
edit: we've now gotten a lot more playing guitar performances, this comment aged poorly

Let's have some wine over a Zoom meeting! Fantastic performance from Carrie btw, of course! Everyone has done great so far!

These are all honestly spectacular. You can say whatever you want about the state of country music, but there’s no denying the incredible level of talent in the format.
