That Kenny tribute... I'm in tears!! Seeing him on the screen was overwhelming. Also, the Kane Brown/John Legend performance was incredible! This was really an incredible show; I enjoyed it a lot!

I enjoyed the show more than I thought I would! It was throughly great to see the stripped down performances which we don’t often get to see from these artists.

I tuned in more as an "eh, why not?" I'd seen the list of songs and aside from Wagon Wheel figured it would be enjoyable (it's on my list of "if I never hear it again that's okay" songs), but everyone sounded really good and I think it was a really nice reminder of how talented so many of our artists really are when you strip away the production. I really enjoyed Kane Brown and John Legend, for instance - Kane is someone I'm starting to come around on more, but hearing him stripped down like that was really enjoyable. And Luke Bryan seemed more comfortable than I've heard him in a while. Music is definitely healing - I think they did a really great job with the show.

Just announced...ACMs will be broadcast from Nashville
Announced moments ago during Nashville Mayor John Cooper's daily press briefing, the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards will broadcast live from Nashville Wednesday, Sept. 16 on CBS. The Academy, Dick Clark Productions and the network postponed the show, originally set for April 5 in Las Vegas, as COVID-19 forced widespread shut downs (Breaking News 3/16). The new date will incorporate performances from the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium and the Bluebird Cafe; Keith Urban will host. A decision on whether audiences will be present will be made later. This is the first time the show has been held in Nashville.

Lmao wait, they’ve rescheduled to the same night as the Americana Awards, which are also scheduled to be held at the Ryman. What the fuck?
Bad look for the ACMs. Again.

In a statement released from the ACMs it appears the events captured from the Ryman will be pre-recorded in advance: “Thank you for the opportunity to clarify our plans. The Academy’s current plan is to utilize the largest of the three iconic Nashville venues, the Grand Ole Opry House, as the live centerpiece of the night with select live performances from the Bluebird Cafe. Special performances and moments from the Ryman will be captured in advance of Sept. 16’s CBS broadcast of the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards. Our plans will remain fluid based on the status of the quarantine and we are prepared to adapt them based on the status of Nashville’s Roadmap for Reopening.“

They’re best off coming up with a virtual awards show, the Emmy’s did it and it actually worked great. Just move passed 2020 and start investing in epic 2021 shows... Have some live and prerecorded performances from artists, and they can even present the awards live virtually - which would make things very interesting. It’d be worth a shot; nothing to lose.
But yeah, they cannot possibly believe in two months time they’ll be able to carry out a typical awards show. No way.

Honestly I don't blame them for delaying the award show since pandemic and I don't think any of the artists were really thinking about the awards being aired during early April since they were probably more focused on staying safe, healthy and away from the virus especially since it was so early on in the pandemic. That and fans aren't entitled to the award show airing originally, quite frankly the ACMs can do whatever they want in regards to when this airs.

Honestly, at this point I feel like the artists might even be fine with this award show being virtual if it has to come down to that. It seems like they’re already moving towards the 2021 show in April. I could see this being a socially distanced audience with only artists spread out though.

They should pick a date next week online, get the artists together on video chat. Say the nominees and announce the winners. Give the artists time thank everybody. We don’t need performances to have an award show. That’s how I would do it . Plain and simple.

To be fair I imagine CBS will want to air this award show since their schedule is so barren and performances definitely attract more viewers as well. Hell it can even be at home performances. You don't need performances but performances tend to be the more remembered thing for award show.
