This is totally BS, Townes did nothing compared to Barrett or Ingrid in the US. How the heck did Green beat Wallen. Wallen had a huge year. The ACMs are bogus.

Maybe WMN split their votes with Ingrid & Gabby? Idk.
There is really no reason for Morgan to lose to Riley. lol Riley is more of a critical fav? And Big Machine probably has more voting clout than Big Loud? idk

Other than Combs didn’t Wallen have the best year in country music on the charts?

Voting blocks?

It’s also important to remember that the results were determined way earlier in the year even though the results are just now coming out. The voting period wasn’t pushed back. I’m not denying the fact though that it is political bogus.

I was talking more so about using I Hope and More Hearts Than Mine as examples when those songs mainly flourished way after the voting was determined but I’m not denying that it’s strange. I literally don’t care who wins those awards.

Green winning is just gross on so many many levels

I always wondered if there's many award voters that are "old-school" & prefers more traditional country. It could explain Riley getting the award. Voting blocks definitely matter, but I wonder if the voters are a factor, too.

Tenille Townes winning when she is probably losing her US record deal before the year is up is...a choice.

I was thinking the same thing but I guess they’ll always have this award for what it’s worth. Hopefully after their performances they don’t go “hi, I’m...” a la Brett Young from a few years back

I am baffled at Riley Green winning... As someone who is a huge Tenille Townes fan, I'm super pleased to see her win. She seems like the most genuinely sweet, hardworking person and I want her to have US success so bad. Heck, maybe this win will help.
Winning New Female Vocalist has probably been a critical part of Lauren Alaina and Ashley McBryde's success. Lauren's single was flopping at the time (still did) but her win helped retain a little bit of the momentum she was carrying at the time. Had she won the CMA I think she would be in a much better spot now -- like Ashley is after she won both the ACM and the CMA. Tenille winning this just might help her hang on to her record deal, and MAYBE even convince her team to push a single to radio ("Holding Out for the One" has been all over major streaming playlists).
Is CMA second ballot voting already over? I wonder if Tenille and Riley's win will help secure them a nomination for CMA New Artist if it isn't already finished.

I like Riley and Tenille but I’m shocked that both won honestly. Townes is doing her thing in Canada so I guess they’re working hard to break her over here.

can Riley Green just GTFO already. His music is vanilla at best, his personality is atrocious, and he brings nothing new to the table. There are so many artist that are so much better than him that deserve the radio success that he has been getting. I'm all for more traditional country being played but I want good traditional, not mediocre traditional.
I do really enjoy Tenille Townes but agree that Gabby or Ingrid deserved the win more. Even Lindsay Ell deserved it more. I do wish "Holding Out For The One" would be released to radio as that song is very catchy and she sounds great on it!

Here are the reaction videos of Riley and Tenille. Keith Urban surprised them on their Zoom. I'm assuming they will be playing new singles?

I am sorry there is something about Riley Green that rubs me the wrong way and I still can not fathom how Morgan Wallen who is about to have a song debut in the Top 20 on the Hot 100 not win this award. The 2 artists aren't comparable at all.
