"Me & You Together Song" is still on the Alternative chart. It makes no sense to kill it's momentum, but they should have it ready at the gate as soon as "Me & You Together Song" goes recurrent.

I love this but it is a shameless replica of Itโs Not Living (If Itโs Not With You). Correct. I enjoyed their last two albums, but I am getting kinda sick of them, tbh. They aren't bringing anything new or fresh to the table and are now apparently just content to rehash prior songs. I'll still give the new album a chance though. |

I've been digging this song a lot, even though it does sound similar to lots of their other songs. I am a big The 1975 fan and I am hoping this song does well on the Alt chart, and maybe even the Pop chart!

Lol No. I mean, the song has not been given a radio push anywhere, let alone pop, so I guess it's awesome any pop station decided to start playing it, but Hits 1 specifically is a strange station that plays mostly obscure pop songs with the stray hit here and there. (Which really makes zero sense given the name lol.) It's also a satellite radio station, which for some reason means it doesn't contribute AI. |

Just watched an animal crossing video and they were being sponsored by Polydor Records to promote this song lol. I was so confused, I thought I might have a tab playing it but it turns out it was the sponsor. At least theyโre promoting somehow haha

I don't get how Alt can snub The Sound and It's Not Living, but push shit like AJR, Sub Urban etc...
If alternative doesn't snub this, I'd be very surprised, even though this deserves a #1 spot and is probably their catchiest release so far.

In AJRโs case, itโs family friendly pop thatโs easy for a station to play. There isnโt anything you need to censor in terms of words or lyrics, meaning no complaints. Sub Urban is an artist that only got popular because one song went viral. That song is also easy to play because that style of pop is popular. Fortunately for this song, the lyrics are also squeaky clean for radio to play. Nothing too risky, deep as a puddle. It doesnโt seem to be just iHeartRadio strangely. Out of the top ten stations with the top spins for Bang!, only one of them is owned by iHeartMedia, KTCL in 9th place for spins has Bang! in their heavy rotation. I donโt know why alternative radio stations in general WANT that generic crap in their playlist. Iโve ranted way too much on an off topic subject in here. Letโs just say this song sounds like it should be a hit. Letโs see if radio will let them. I really enjoy the cheesy 80s vibe it has. |

Yes, this means bad stuff gets elevated with the good. But most of the worst stuff is soon forgotten (how many of MC Hammer's several hits are remembered today other than "U Can't Touch This"?) and the good stuff hangs around to be remembered for decades if not centuries. Anyway, the biggest tragedy of this being sent is that "Me & You Together Song", a tune I absolutely adore, is most certainly done. I was hoping it'd make it to top 10 on Alt but I guess the realization that they were sitting on a pop smash was too much to ignore. |

I mean I like this a lot, definitely more than Me & You Together Song. But...i don't really think it's the 1975's *best* song or that it's like some kind of unprecedented smash hit in the waiting. It's very on brand for them, kinda just sounds like an inferior It's Not Living If It's Not with You to me

This song reminds me a bunch of the kind of alternative songs that would crossover to Top 40 radio in the late 1980s/early 1990s, pre-Nirvana. This is true for a lot of 1975 songs, including "Me & You Together Song", and is part of what I like about them. They've done a really good job at bringing that era of alternative music back into the public eye. Like, I can't say I'm shocked to find out that Matty Healy is a big Blue Nile fan, for instance.

I personally really enjoyed this album, the initial reviews came out as positive, but it's now sitting at about a 69 on Metacritic.
If you appreciate or even play along with Matty's ego, you'll enjoy this album. If you have a problem with the ego thing? You'll hate it. It's an album casserole with layers of traditional catchy 1975 (Too Shy, Roadkill, What Should I Say) slower 1975 (Playing On My Mind, Don't Worry, Jesus Christ God Bless America 2005) and these catchy, "driving around at 2am" dance vibe tracks scattered throughout the album (Yeah I Know, Having No Head, Shiny Collarbone)
I've seen 10/10 and 1/10 for ratings for this album. Do I think this is better than their last album? On first listen, no. But I feel like the more I listen to it, the more I can see it having better replay value than ABIIOR.
8/10 for myself. (ARTV gave this a dismal 1.5/5)
(Oh and so this is related to the thread; Too Shy is 100% the best song on the album.)

Yeah, I can see how people hate this album. It's definitely a love it or hate it thing. However, i love it and think it's my personal favorite from them. It grows with each listen so on the thrid listen a lot of the songs stand out more than they did the first time. My personal fav from it is What Should I Say, it might even be my fav song from them ever but only time will tell.
With the album, I can definitely see it growing on critics with time and in the future being greatly appreciated for what it is.
