As I said in a previous thread, UMG couldn’t afford to lose out on the buzz of this song. It looks like they made the wise move. According to Mickey’s Twitter, What Are You Gonna Tell Her?, goes to radio on Friday.

Thank GOD! UMG made an excellent move here! I'm perched to hear the studio version (never like hearing it live until I hear the studio because I'm crazy I guess) and I am on my hands and knees praying to the good Lord that this becomes an actual hit. This woman should've had like 3 or 4 Grammys by now.

The live performance of this gave me chills so I am ecstatic that they are not wasting any time on getting this out into the world. This song deserves to be the one that finally breaks her out and all those radio programmers in the room who gave her a standing ovation better put it in rotation, too!

sabre14 can you confirm this song going to country radio as a single? Because as much as I am hopeful it will, I feel like Mickey Guyton might have been just talking about releasing the song in general. Excited to hear this song, especially since it sounds more like her debut single"Better Than You Left Me" which was amazing, than her follow-up "Heartbreak Song" which for me was very underwhelming and after a while grew kind of annoyed with the song.

Wow that was amazing! Country radio better make this a hit - she should've had a hit ages ago with "Better Than You Left Me" but if they're going to give her a hit this better be the one! Such a quality song. Definitely looking forward to hearing the studio version!

Sounds amazing! The studio version better be even more amazing ♥ If this isn't a hit, I wonder if we will have Mickey among the entertainment industry, given how many songs she has released with no album. Hopefully this is at the very least a minor hit.

I almost commented in the original thread that I was going to be annoyed when, as has happened with songs that get performed during CRS and have promise, we wouldn't hear the studio version for another six months or so...so I'm glad to hear that's not the case! The song sounds fantastic from the live version, as expected.

I really, really, really dig this! I can't wait for the studio version.
This sounds like a much better executed and much more authentic "Female". I am rooting for this to be her first hit. And those vocals...powerful.

It's beautiful to see that radio PDs are excited about her performance and getting their hands on the song. I don't wanna get my hopes up because this literally happened once before with her and then radio still let her flop, but the climate for women on country radio is slowly improving from where it was at when "Better Than You Left Me" debuted so I'm gonna remain optimistic. UMG has produced a better version of the CRS performance that left us all awestruck. You can clearly see Mickey's emotion at the end.

I had refrained from the live CRS performance so this is the first time I've heard this song and oh my God, what a POWERFUL, powerful song. Dear Lord, I'm in tears! Those lyrics are all too real and raw: Cause there ain't no way, you can't explain what you don't understand. What are you gonna tell her when she figures out/That all this time you built her up just so the world could let her down? And that her friend's older brother's gonna keep his hands to himself/And that somebody's gon' believe her when she tells? Do you just let her pretend that she could be president?/Would it help us get there any faster?
This is easily one of the best songs I've ever heard in my entire life. Beautiful, beautiful song. I am SO glad country radio is finally ready for a song like this; she should've done been up there with the greats by now!! This deserves to be a #1 hit!

A feature in today's Los Angeles Times indicates that "What Are You Gonna Tell Her?" will be promoted to radio in June, with an album theoretically coming later this year.
